This might not necessarily be your favourite game - but would be a game that is very hard to pick fault with because it does what it does so well and that any tweaks to the game would only add marginal value to the playing experience.

I think Dark Souls is a good example of this. A game that suceeds perfectly in what it is trying to do. The only patches required are very very minor tweaks to the gameplay or bugs ironed out. It is hard to imagine how it could be significantly improved upon.

An older game is GTA Vice City - Achieved everything the vision set out to be, the cars, gameplay, music - just flawless!

Super Mario Galaxy 2, probably. I do have a few issues with the game, but they're mostly disagreements with certain design choices rather than technical problems.

GTA Vice City was pretty flawed, btw.

Agreed, that game is the closest thing to a flawless game objectively. Any issues people find would be nitpicking.

Not flawless, but as close to flawless as possible

  1. Rayman 2(only problem were the on rails portions since those aren't actually fun)
  2. Banjo Kazooie(framerate)
  3. Donkey Kong Country(when playing 2p if you die over a pit your monkey friend will spawn over the pit, and die as well. This is quite hilarious actually)
  4. Half Life 2(I wish there was more Ravenholm sometimes)
  5. Batman AA(sometimes, just sometimes, when you go to use a tool it'll use it the wrong way because you aren't quite close enough to an enemy, but you're in combat anyways, so why do you do this to me Batman?????????????????)

Nah dark souls is not flawless. The lock on camera has caused a few unnecessary deaths and a few bosses can be defeated using exploits.

The camera in SMG2 keeps it from being flawless. Uncharted 2 was a little too linear and scripted.

It's somewhere on my list of games to beat. Somewhere after WC1, WC3, The Witcher 2, STALKER (hopefully I can figure this game out), and I might play some Diablo 3 or Path of Exile.

And now my friends also want me to get Sins of a Solar Empire, so maybe I'll never get to play Batman AC!

SUBSISTENCE you mean...cause the fixed camera on snake eater was atrocious and infuriating. But even in Subsistence the increased difficulty of lack of radar and the constant need to feed and heal wounds got annoying. Far from flawless. Enemy A.I. was a bit wonky at times.

The camera and platforming in Psychonauts were blah...and don't get me started on that final boss. Braid's text-athon ending was pretentious.

Far too subjective... all you're really asking is for people to name their favorite game, and for other people to point out it's flaws.

It's not too hard to find fault with pretty much every game listed in this thread, like for example...

Dark Souls - high difficulty

Final Fantasy IX - plot and gameplay lack depth

Super Mario Galaxy 2 - lacks HD graphics

GTA Vice City - bad graphics and outdated

Tetris & Pong - simplistic and repetitive

Resident Evil 4 - no walk-and-shoot

StarCraft - outdated

Psychonuats & Braid - too simplistic

Metal Gear Solid 3 - slow loading and shallow villains (besides The Boss)

The more complex a game gets, the more likely it is to have flaws. So, yeah, Tetris.

If I had to pick one game in recent memory that is close to being flawless, then Batman AC.

To be honest the only game drop iv seen on this topic that fits in is tetris mainly cause there really isint much wrong with and theres not much you can screw up as well. Its just droping blocks and clearing blocks and it does that very well. Some games that people mentioned here like RE4 and ff10 I cant say are flawless. 10 had that forced love story and the vo wasint the best. RE4 lacked atmosphere execpt for like 1 or 2 spots and forgetable bosses. At least thats my opinoin anyway.

For it's time, FF7. Unless you count poor localization, but that really depends on what language version you played. Now? Nothing is close.

A lot of those aren't "flaws"
