I'm pretty sure you missed a couple zeroes, unless you're talking about Uganda's monthly sales?
Then Uganda loves them some Wii LOL
Anywho what is it for? 1 week?
This topic is locked from further discussion.
[QUOTE="kcpp2b"]Yes I do know this just trying to make a point. Ur now comparing various different companies to one console company each? That makes sense how?
On top of that ur talking about video cards, well dont similar or the same rather, companies make these cards for both systems?
My point is when u argue these kinds of things its like a game
Like the yankees vs. the red sox. Or if a race bring in some more teams to take place of MS Sony etc...
But ur talking about a match between the Leafs vs. the entire NHL, AHL European elite leagues, OHL etc... How is that any kind of ownage? What's the point in that? If there was this one company called PC that sold specific gaming rigs and sold $30 Mill of them since 2005 then that's different. Or for ur argument the ONE company made Cards
CaseyWegner
it's system wars...not company wars. the pc counts as one system.
Ok then if that's true and its not company then lets throw in the sales from the DS, PSP, PS2, Xbox, 360, PS3, Wii Gamecube, Ngage etc... since 2005.
I dont get how its fair to compair a league of companies joined together to one company making consoles.
I guess it works in ur favor then to look at it like that.
[QUOTE="CaseyWegner"][QUOTE="kcpp2b"][QUOTE="CaseyWegner"]last thread got all ruined and stuff so here this is. >_>Eltroz
I dont understand... why did u change it? I gotta ask. Do u still compare PC sales to console cause I gotta know if u do and if u do how on earth can u do such a thing?
Also i think the Wii will slow down and the PS3 will rise and win this gen but not by much. People seem to know little of business really with how fast they think winners are official here. Wii is far from winning anything right now.
i changed it because i didn't want it to be a "does the pc count" thread. tracking sales of high performance video cards seems to have worked well in the past.
Only problem with that is video cards are just a upgrade. It would be kinda like counting the new controller for PS3 even though they just wanted to upgrade the rumble. A person could go through a few video cards through out a console generation. That does not mean that many PCs were sold. My comp is not the best but I do play PC games and I have had my PC for a couple years now so if I bought a video card it would not be the same as if someone bought a 360. Either way though I will leave it alone now.just one of the reasons i was so opposed to using sales as the determining factor and also why i changed the thread.
[QUOTE="CaseyWegner"]awesome100Gamer
not as bad as cows say?
why would you listen to cows about a 360 game?
i hope wii doesnt go in first
simply because it doesnt deserve it
-PS360FTW-
Casy, we still know you love box360!this generation in CONSOLE SALES? the wii is absolutely stomping all over the 360. what's it going to take to change that? it'll need a miracle.
*sigh*

Daaaaamn, Casey done call out dem lemmins.
And only delusional lemmings think it will come in first. I honestly think the PS3 has a better chance, if only because of brand name.
The Wii has dominated so far without Super Smash Bros and Mario Kart, which are their two biggest franchises. Mario Kart has sold over 5 million (and sometimes upwards of ten) on every single platform it was ever released for, and so has Super Smash Bros. Melee and Double Dash were by far the two best-selling Gamecube games. Add that to WiiFit, which is sure to catch on like WiiPlay and WiiSports. And then you have to look at Animal Crossing, which sold nearly 3 million on Gamecube and over 8 million on Wii. The Xbox 360 has seen Halo 3 come and go, and it's been through two Chritsmas seasons vs the Wii's one. The Wii has broad appeal in all three regions, and there is no way that it is going to get caught.SmashBrosLegend
Im sorry dude Mario is their biggest franchise lol

Yeah, its brand name is why the PS3 is number 1 in sales now even dude no lie!

Not sales-wise. Melee and Double Dash outsold Sunshine by a large margin on Gamecube. Nintendogs and Pokemon have outsold it on DS. Pokemon outsold it on GBA and GBC. The largest franchise in terms of cumulative sales, yes, but in recent years the individual titles haven't been as big.[QUOTE="sexy_chimp"]Daaaaamn, Casey done call out dem lemmins.

Well, even the biggest brand name couldn't justify a 700 dollar price tag and no appealing games.
Because we all know what brand name loyalty did for SEGA and Atari, and for Nintendo with the N64 and Gamecube right?Daaaaamn, Casey done call out dem lemmins.

nothing can compare to the wii when it comes to sales.
it's broad appeal to all types of casuals, and even people who have never touched a video game before, as well as satisfying the hardcore crew, is truly a great marketing strategy designed by nintendo.

I will agree with you completely! I'm a lemming/ hermit at heart and I think that the Wii has this generation hardware sales on lockdown and any fellow lemmings that disagree are a little misinformed on sales forcasts and in recognising customer demographics.
However, however successful the Wii is, it will not detract from the success of the 360, no matter how much people want it to. The reason is things like, joining clans, taking part in online tournaments. There is a sizable market out there for competitive gamers. Gamers that like sports games and like to play online, gamers that want the latest graphics and gamers who are generally more into gaming as a whole. I'm NOT saying the Wii cant cater or these things but you have to agree it wasn't developed for this market in mind.
It's doing great for attracting non-gamers into gaming and in further bringing video games to the mainstream but it isnt going for the same customer base as the ps3 and 360 are. I'm sure you and casey will recognise that. (Casey hardly ever responds to my posts lol).
360 doesnt need a miracle!!!
It's like comparing a phantom rolls royce with a honda. Honda will obviously sell more, doesn't mean it's better though.manningbowl135Better is entirely subjective, and that Honda isn't in direct competition for developer support with that Rolls Royce.
Lemmings- US alone is enough for MS. We will be 1st this gen. We dont need the rest of world to help out on sales.
that kind of thinking is reason why i laughed when Wii took 1st place in one year, when MS had a year head start.
sorry lemmings US alone is not going to be enough for MS to even make 1st place, let alone 2nd place. maybe next gen. until then good luck
now playing

Hold on, hold on...are you implying that nintendo are competing for developer support?Because if we are, we better take a peak at SOFTWARE SALES! lol

Quite a convincing argument you've got there. I give up.

I would've bought one.. but the hardware specs really scare me for its future.
In answer to your question casey, no I don't think the 360 can beat the wii..
I think YOU know this lol
You get paid for this?? lol

i wasn't asking anybody to convince me.

So the Wii is awarded extra points for coming out later? Cows use the same argument. This isnt a time-trial. If your late to the table and catch up thats great, but just think how well you'd have done if you got here on time. Its your disadvantage not ours.
By the end of the generation no one is going to look at sales and say "arh, but the 360 came out a year earlier bla blah blah" its a mute point my friend.

The Wii didn't come in too late, the 360 came in too early, as you can see by the Xbox's extremely short lifespan and the hardware problems :P
But that's beside the point. It's pretty much impossible for the software sales of the Wii to be there with the 360 in half the time, however, a year from now, games like Metroid Prime 3 and Guitar Hero 3 and other games from 07 will be million sellers, along with 08 games like Brawl, so they will accumulate, and the Wii will catch up to the 360 eventually.
I think MS is strictly aiming to beat out Sony this gen, and condsiders Nintendo a niche product. I am amazed at the 360s success to this point. The 360 has alot more 3rd party support this go round, who I assume will continue working with future MS consoles, which in turn will make MS more money in the long term.
Will either Sony or MS beat out Nintendo...probably not. I bought all three, most hardcore gamers will too. Anyone looking for a cheap option will go with the Wii. Anyone serious about HD will look elsewhere. I really think the Wii craziness will die down a bit as the games look more and more dated, and the competition gets cheaper.

Lol I agree with you, IT IS BESIDES THE POINT!
It is entirely possible the Wii will catch up in software sales and I'm not going to say the Wii wont win. I use common sense and it's obvious the Wii is becoming a remarkable success. 10 years from now, people will be referring back to how it changed gaming.
My whole point, from the beginning is that none of this takes away from the success of the 360 especially considering how the xbox finished, especially how few devs they had signed last generation, especially considering the predictions made on how the 360 was doomed to fail, especially how the ps3 was supposed to dominate and the widely recognised fact that any gain in market share by the 360 was to be seen as success.
But most importantly, you have to factor in the different customers that each console is going for, as I highlighted in a previous post. They're just not fighting for the same customers.
