Are Xbox Exclusives Overrated?

If you think gen-defining games or innovative games, it goes without say that Sony has provided the best experiences that redefines gaming as we know it. Every gen. (MGS3, DMC, Jak and Daxter, LBP, Uncharted, B2S, Heavy Rain, TLOU etc) Even Nintendo and the PC have their top notch exclusives, and then if we take a look at Microsoft, they've not provided good exclusives since the OG Xbox (which was last thanks to GC and PS2 and of the least quality).

Gears was overrated. Halo still looks like a child's FPS. (compare it to KZ, it's literally like going from K-A to Mature in an instance) Forza is probably the only quality exclusive to date. Fable flopped over and over. Alan Wake didn't compare to Heavy Rain or B2S. This gen, it flopped with Ryse-Son of Flop, which doesn't compare to God Of War...other than Halo and Forza? When has the Xbox actually provided quality exclusives that aren't overrated?

(Please don't say Gears as Rogue Trooper and Kill.sWitch pre-date Gears, and Gears was a blatant rip-off)

Well I'd list some of the games you mentioned, but you quickly discarded them for whatever reason.

There's also Ninja Gaiden, Lost Odyssey, and a handful of Rare games (Nuts and Bolts, Viva Pinata, Kameo).

This gen has been pretty weak on the exclusive front (Sunset Overdrive and Forza Horizon 2 being the most noteworthy games).

They are pretty much Hitler.

Stupid thread is stupid. For something to be overrated, it must be highly rated in the first place. So far xbox exclusives were getting mostly average scores, nothing groundbreaking, and xbox one sales reflect that. So where this perception of xbox exclusives being overrated (by whom ?) comes from ?

Uncharted and TLOU = Terrible game design and mechanics, generic stories, linear corridor shooter with clunky mechanics, some of the worst AI ever, tacked on multiplayer and QTE galore as the game specializes in hand holding

God of War = Lulz, rehashed over and over again

Infamous = Rehash

Ratchet and Clank = massive rehash

Gran Turismo = hasn't been good in over a decade, consistently gets it's ass kicked by Forza

Killzone = mediocre shooter

Knack = flop

LBP3 = flop

Drive Club = broken flop

The Last GUardian = Vaporware

Bloodborne = Dark Souls for dummies, 20 fps goodness

No more so than Nintendo and Sony exclusives. Each console has "overrated" exclusives.

Not to sure, Xbox has some classics, Crackdown, Dead or Alive 4, Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts, Dead Rising, Fable 2, Forza, Gears of War, Guilty Gear 2, Halo, Had some exclusive Naruto games, Lost Odyssey, Perfect Dark Zero, Ridge Racer 6, Rumble Roses, plus had the Ziods exclusives.

I think after this year is over they will have better exclusives then PS4.

So far Xbox has the best FPS and TPS, the best racing game and will have the best fighting game when Capcom caves in and brings over SFV

Xbox exclusives fade with time, and their impact on the industry isn't significant as Sony or Nintendo

However, they had their moments with Halo and Forza.

My favorite game on Xbox was the original Fable game. I didn't try the newer ones, I wonder if I should.

The only really good PS4 game in the foreseeable future is UC4. Xbox One has 3 maybe 4 AAA titles coming before Christmas. I'd rather have just Halo 5 and FM6 than a PS4 and its entire library at this point. I will buy a PS4 next year though if GT7 manages to launch by then. UC4 looks awesome, but I won't pay full price for it unless it has amazing multiplayer also.

I don't think so. I actually think it's the Playstation exclusives that are more overrated. Most are made out to be the best things ever and they aren't. And this gen they've been flopping left and right.

With most Xbox exclusives, people pretty much know which are actually good.

Xbox exclusives are pretty good I'd say. Cows cry about Halo/Forza/Gears, but let's take a closer look.

Halo- Hands down the best FPS that is exclusive to a console. Killzone was Sony's answer, but lulz...

Forza- Hands down the best racing sim on consoles. GT has been bad for years.

Gears- Hands down the best third person cover shooter that is exclusive to consoles. UC might compete if only the controls weren't so damn clunky.

God of War was fun for a couple of games, until I grew up.

Infamous was good as a one time playthrough. PS4 owners can look forward to Sony milking the pants off of this ip for years to come.

Bloodborne is just a Souls ripoff. Nothing new here.

Yes, they are basically crappy dumbed down PC games, then again many modern playstation exclusives are dumbed down pc games as well. It is the fault of the xbox brand why console gaming turned into a dumbed down version of pc gaming in the first place though.

Halo- And that is not saying much since console FPS are garbage.

Gears of war- This game is the reason why we were flooded with crappy cinematic cover based third person shooters. This genere is a pure failure on every single level and this of course includes Gears of war

BloodBorne cant be a ripoff if its done by the same company that made Demon Souls.. Not to mention that gameplay wise its basically the best game of the current console generation.

Nah, but those Sony IPs almost routinely get more credit than they deserve. For every rare moment a Naughty Dog makes a The Last of Us which is legit a great game, there is a Resistance, a Killzone, A God of War, or Little Big Planet that is getting by on some superficial shit with dull average gameplay, or in a lot of cases straight trash gameplay.

Halo, Gears, and Forza were at least very good for what they were (Halo and Gears for mp, Forza as a simcade), but they just got milked because Microsoft hasn't created enough new things in awhile.

Playstation exclusives are overrated. Flower? I mean wtf there are windows 95 screensavers more interesting than that. Heavy Rain? Garbage.

@XboxStache: For my taste they are .... big time. Objectively are fine games . What X1 lacks is variety and quantity of this variation is missing. Otherwise i dont see how games scoring 9s left and right should considered overated aside personal preference.

Sony Exclusives however....

Not at all, I actually think many of them are underrated. Forza does so many cool things, but because there is a sequel every 2 years(and because of the Horizon series, which is like totally different than Motorsport), a lot of people blast the series. Sunset OD I think is one of the best games I played, it's nothing revolutionary but it's a well designed-game from a gameplay perspective, and it has a solid online 8 player mode to boot. It's just very entertaining when you get into it. I don't see enough people talking about it. Those are just 2 off the top of my head, and by "overrated/underrated" I am also referring to the general community consensus, not just critics.

Ah this guy with his the "XBOX has fail me via ________" rant. Honestly the xbox exclusives aren't just many of them aren't my genre that I would like to play.

Gears Series: Loved it from a story and gameplay aspect.

Halo Series: Same as gears.

Forza Series: I think the games are good just not huge it to racing sims but I did like how they did Forza Horizon which takes the gameplay of Horizon and made it more open world. Which is why I would love for Forza Horizon 2 to be more of an underground open world street racer like game NFS: Carbon was but minus the whole teammate thing.

Killer Instinct: It's a good fighter but the gameplay just isn't there for me because of how easy it is to pull off huge combos.

Sunset Overdrive: I liked the story and the gameplay alot. I though the weapons were really fun to use espically the gun that shoots out explosive teddy bears, that gun be mah favorite.

Other than I'll be looking forward to Quantum Break and maybe Phantom Dusk and Scalebound. Scalebound and Phantom Dust I'm waiting for a review/youtuber gameplay footage.

Sony exclusives pretty meh to be honest, so I don't know why you talk like they are the second coming of Jesus.

Most exclusives are overrated to some extent, but Halo and Gears might be the MOST overrated (and over-purchased), generic, and formulaic franchises of all time. Forza on the other hand is actually quality. That's basically the one franchise Microsoft has that maintained it's quality though the years. Everything else has either been either rehashed to death, bastardized, or ported to a superior PC game (making Xbox irrelevant).
