Sup SW, are you getting your games at DAY1 or rather wait for a price drop (or complete edition this gen :) ) ? I usually can't wait for games and have to get them ASAP on DAY1 , it's kinda infuenced by the fact that the shops here do not have much stock for other than major mainstream games and they are being sold out on DAY1 and then restocked after a month or so soonest (sonetimes they just got 2 copies in total for less mainstream games) .

Let me know how you mostly purchase your games.

In my 10 years of gaming, I've never, ever bough a game at full price. Even GOTY editions, I get them used or after a price drop. There's no point in buying a game the first day it's out.

Price drop guy, got a huge backlog so unless it's something I anticipated for a while I wouldn't buy it day 1.

I wait for more reviews and reception to come in before I buy a game.

Just so I don't get disappointed. ;)

Usually day 1 as I want to support the devs. Got overwhelmed last autumn though, so now I'm waiting for a price drop for some of the games that came out back then. I hate to pay full price after some months.

I wait most of the time. Why buy one $60 game when I can use that $60 to buy 3 or 4, maybe 5 good games? Eventually the $60 game becomes one among the group of cheap games.

Black Friday is where it's at. November 2011 was awesome in terms of game releases, with some good ones coming out just before like Gears 3 and Battlefield. I remember Black Friday at Best Buy had all the 2011 releases for $29.99 or less, and I dropped like $500 bucks on new games. It's totally worth waiting, Best Buy had some crazy deals last holiday.

Plus, they had some crazy deals going on with "Deal of the Day" specifically for video games, and I ended up getting $5 Crysis 2, $10 L.A. Noire, and a ton of other games for $5 or $10 bucks brand new sealed. You seriously can't beat that. Not even Steam beats that.

This generation I became price drop waiter. Games with 1st day DLC or alot of DLC after release are guaranteed to get wait 'til price drop treatment.

I only buy 1st day for great niche games developed by small team because of its low print quantity.

Metroid Prime Trilogy kinda screwed me up in the head, because I saw it one day, passed on it thinking, "Oh, I'll just pick it up next time".

Well, I never saw it again. It's because of that that I will sometimes buy games like the first week they come out. Like for example, I bought MGSHDCollection week 1 because I just didn't wanna miss out on it.

Damn Metroid Prime Trilogy, lol.

I wait for price drops for most games but make a few exceptions for buying games on day 1.

Thieres always a game that releases once in a while that i just must have on week 1. Most of my games though i would say i haved payed anywhere between $20 - $40.

You wouldnt believe how many great games are dirt cheap. I can go to the store right now & pick up 3 amazing new games for $20 each. they may be a little dated but still great games none the less

this. i tend to go for day 1 buys though, because i tend to lose interest in a game if i wait too much to buy it :P steam sales have been changing this habit though...

Generally, price drop waiter.

But occasionally launch buyer. Although even then, I'll look for a good deal new e.g. got Uncharted 3 launch week for around US$45 iirc.

of course , but what's your attitude for games you really want much? do you need to buy em ASAP or rather wait for them to become cheaper with the intention to save cash

Day 1 purchaser here.... gaming is my one and only hobby.

Of course I don't buy every game on day 1, many I'll see in the bargain bin or on sale down the road and think...

"hhmmm... i kinda wanted to check that out *BUYS IT*, *TAKES IT HOME*, *PUTS ON SHELF*... and then I forget about it.

I've got 20+ games I've bought and never tried. But big releases that I'm amped for I go day one ie:

any MARIO platformer
Starcraft II
Diablo II and soon (hopefully) DIablo III
Mass Effect (all of em)
SW:ToR
Kingdoms of Amalur
Bioshock
Resident Evil: Revelations
Dark Souls
WoW (vanilla + first few expansions) (done with it now, thank god)
any Zelda title

and many more... I just hate the idea of something I know I'd enjoy, that is readily available to me, being enjoyed by others and not myself.

Gotta be a part of it.

With my backlog the size it is, I am lucky enough to be occupied enough where I can wait till every game reaches 15 bucks. Steam sales FTW

DLC price plans have pretty much forced me into waiting.

I can't afford to pay £30 on a game and then another £15 on the DLC.

I'd much rather wait a year and get the GOTY edition in a Steam sale for under £10.

Obviously some games are day 1 regardless of DLC (HL3 I'm looking at you).

I believe the only reason I wait for price drops may be because I already have a big backlog as is.

It's hard for me to bring myself to buy a $50 game when I look at my collection, and see so many unplayed games.

I'm sure once my backlog is cleared out I'll be more willing to purchase the games I want at full price.

I wait for price drops. Also, nowadays I wait at least a month or two to see if any DLC will be released for the game. If that DLC isn't included in the game somehow, I don't make that purchase.

This, but even still, I don't buy full price, I only buy pre-order sales. (okay, okay... I buy Blizz games at full price, can I really be blamed?)

Depends entirely on the game. Only announced games right now I will definitely buy day one are GTA V, Borderlands 2 and Bioshock Infinite. Pretty much anything else will either be rented, or purchased at a later date.

the last 2 games I bought day one were Halo 3 and MW2 .. and that was due to mostly peer pressure.

since then, I always wait a month or so.
