I'll add more to this, food for thought.
Digital on PC is Backwards Compactibility meaning it's a league ahead of any of the current-gen consoles combined. I can still play my copy of Prince of Persia: Sands of Time from 2003 on a brand new PC with or without the physical media. Folks that have been with Steam and many other storefronts still have their libraries in most cases and can come back to PC gaming to find their stuff there vs consoles without BC issues or worry of their store getting shut down in most cases; even then, PC community is excellent about archiving and sadly, Nintendo, on the other hand, doesn't give a damn about preservation.
I'm a PC gamer at heart, I still like physical stuff and hope it doesn't fade away for those who still adore them. It is rather amusing how the physical media for things like movies, TV shows, and music CDs is pretty much a dying breed. You have a very small group of die-hards that love physical media in that and some hardcore record collectors. But for the most part, that entire retail space and purchasing are gone, very few even care about acquiring it 99 times out of 100. Even places like Gamestop knows they may never survive the next-gen consoles, they even hate selling XSS & PS5 digital-only.
I'm also a movie fan, I still like to buy physical Blu-Ray movies despite I tend to stream nowadays. There are huge benefits to owning physical movies. If you've ever watched a 4k Blu-Ray in Dolby Vision, you would realize how terrible streaming quality is. Now in the future that might not be the case when streamers start increasing the bitrate to match physical media, but I think we're a long way away from that. Gemini Man, (though not the best movie) for example was the best-looking movie I've ever seen. 60fps uncompressed HDR. Your average Netflix exclusive in 4k Dolby Vision at 24fps doesn't even come close, the compression is terrible I tell ya.
What I'm saying is that physical still has its place. As long as everyone has options to choose digital or physical, there's no right or wrong answer to go either way. Whatever you desire, that's more important than someone else opinion telling you otherwise.
