Poll Are you a main quest or a main/side quest kind of a gamer? (57 votes)
Which describes you best, SW? I tend to be a main & side quest kind of gamer. I like to get the most out of a game, unless the side quests really do suck.

I mostly focus on the main quest. With games being as long as they are nowadays (often too long in my opinion) plus needing to focus on my adult responsibilities, I don't have enough time to also focus much on side quests unless it sounds like a very interesting side quest. Plus, side quests are usually just busywork filler content and I got more than enough games to keep me busy that I don't need any busywork filler content to extend the life of any one game.
I tend to like to do everything before I finish the main quest... Or at least until I get stupid bored.
I do this, also. One of the main reasons I do it, though, is because sometimes proceeding with the main quest can fail side quests.
I am a bit of a completionist so I like to go around getting all the side quests done before progressing in the main story. I did this with FFXV and then discovered there wasn't much main story to FFXV it made me feel like all the side quests were a waste of time and I was really disappointed with it.
Both, depending on how interesting the side quests are. In Witcher 3 for example, I enjoyed a lot of the side quests as much as the main quests.
Generally focus more on the main story and do a couple of side-quest along the way. When I reach near the end of the game, I focus on side-quests.
On first playthrough usually both equally...I won't do sidequest that is hidden/not obvious like you need to go out of your way to find it.
I like to mix it up like I did in AC Origins, I would do a main mission or 2, and then go do half a dozen side missions. Or if the map is broken down into segments I will try and clear each segment with both main/side missions before moving to the next segment.
I get more enjoyment out of side quests and unlocking things than I do main story quests. Sometimes, I will just side quest until I have reached peak enjoyment of a game, then go back to the game and finish the main story sometime down the road.
Same here. Also find I get a little more powerful in character development (depends on game of course) before I tackle main quests.
I'm fine with both main and side quests so long as I get as a minimum, ample reward for the effort. It doesn't matter if they appear repetitive. I need the cash. If side quests are used to earn moolah, so be it.
I suppose this can go for any game. I like to do side quests as much as I can. It helps build you or get you those better unlockables to help you through the main quests. Like even on Forza Motorsport, I spend a TON of time outside of the main single player game, building up cars and tweaking them and what ever else. But I have that same way of thinking for every game no matter the genre.
I love side quest and I get sidetracked too easily. I'll finally get back to main quest once I'm done bs'ing, doing quests, and level grinding for hours, tho lol
Side quests; I feel those are the ones that can give you a full panorama of the world and its inhabitants.
Especially in games like Persona 5
Side quest always have the best stories and the best jokes. Main questlines are always boring chores.
I do sidequests more frequently to get enough buffs for the main quest and get the chance to meet that interesting NPC. Side quests can sometimes get repetitive in most games but they are usually fun and always prolonging my gaming experience, the reason why i love games that give a player freedom to switch between side quest and main quest.
Both main and side quests. In general I try to squeeze a few side quests in between each main mission I tackle.
Ditto. For the games that let me dictate, I'll try to to several side missions in between each main mission.
I tend to squeeze in around 4 or 5 side quests before knocking out 1 line of the main quest. As someone said up above, the side quest is where you earn most of your XP and loot making you more powerful for the main quest. I also just like to get the most for my money.
I tend to get a little tired of the main quests on games and take a break by doing side quests, which often lead to more side quests, then I go back to the main one.
I'd have to say that the main quest is usually my least favourite part of a game.
I usually rush through the main quest so that I can get to the good stuff unfettered.
Both, but I have a bad habit of focusing on side quests and exploration to the point that I get burnt out and can't bring myself to finish the main quest.
This is the reason why I have over 400 hours in Skyrim, but have never even come close to finishing the main quest.
