This may be by choice or not by choice. But do youtry and cut corners for quick fixesor wait until a game becomes a platinum hit before you decide on buying it? Or you're definitely not an early adopter of hardware perhaps? Or maybe you really only relugate yourself to one purchase for whatever period of time you deem fit.

Very few games I'll buy without renting first and seeing what it gets rated. I'll buy used when I can and if games are border line to own, i'll pass and wait till it drops $20 new, $30 used.

Yes, I do all of those. For gamecube, I think I only bought 3-4 games new. The rest, about 25-30, were used from gamestop or EB or Ebay. Only one gave me problems.

I buy most of my games a while after launch, many of them pre-owned. There are a few that i buy around launch

I will not buy a CD game unless it's complete with its original case and intructions, however. If that was my only option, i would just spend the extra money to get it new

When I have enough money for a game I want, I buy that game. But if it's a full-priced ($50-60) game, then in order for me to buy it, I need to REALLY want it. I don't think games are worth $50.

I rarely ever buy new games I usually always buy older titles at budget prices. Exceptions include blockbuster titles and Madden. There is no benifit to buying a Madden title late and must have games that get like AAA every where are games you have to buy. $50 is too much for games and $60 is way too much as well. I could never invest that much money into games. Yet for some forseeable reason I bout a $132 Arcade Stick. Go figure. I'm a sucker for the classics its just a good thing they are cheaper. I rarely ever buy new games.

My stance is that I blend both worlds. I REALLY like to get games when they're fresh and new. Especially online multiplayer games becuase I don't wanna wait for the whole community to thin out later on and move onto a new game. But I do shop around for deals also. It's kinda like a mix and match for me. Some things however I am definitely a sucker for, like console launches, and of course games that are highly anticipated for me. Like every year, I wait for Madden for it's midnight release. It's just a thing now. Or I remember when Super Mario Sunshine came out, my EB had a midnight release for that too. Some games I just HAVE to get right when they come out.

I buy games right when they come out if I don't have anything else to do. For example, I'm probably not going to buy either PGR4, GTA4 or Halo 3 right at release because I'll be playing one of the others, there's no point of buying a game you're not going to play. Also replay value matters. I knowI won't buy Super Mario Galaxy right at release because once I beat it I probably won't touch it again.

I rather not buy Pre-Owned, as I like to support developers, and not give $ back to the greedy EB barstards.

Seriously they makeso much profit on preowned games, and not a penny back to the devs. Its a disgrace.

I think so. Prettymuch never buy any games a release... barely any games are worth $60 to me. Rent most everything else from Gamefly. Imo there's no point in waiting on hardware since price drops so little unless it is unreliable (360) or vastly overpriced (Wii)..... unless of course a killer killer app comes out (GeOW does not cut it for me.. Mass Effect maybe)

Yeah I buy pre-owned games here and there. But most games that score a 9.0 and above I get them at launch. Because who can wait!? I say if you can afford it and are a true gamer -go for it! :)

Good point there on Super Mario Galaxy. I should do that as well. Like with PGR4, I also probably won't buy it right away (and probably never because I didn't buy it right away) because I'll still be busy with Forza 2 for my racing.

It's not a perfect system, but it's cheaper, so I'll always buy preowned most games preowned. If the devs decreased their price at a faster rate, I'd buy new though. And they easily can. After the initial game is made, it takes 50 cent to a dollar to make each game disk. They can easily make bundles on profit even if they charge $30 for games after a couple months.

Before the 360 came out I told myself I wouldn't buy as many games as I did on Xbox, but I've managed buy just as many in half the time I had the original Xbox. So, I want to be, but I can't help myself.

I buy the best games for the system I own. Anything i'm the fence about I wait until they are cheap.

for example:

Mario Galaxy, Metroid 3, Wii Fit (for the board and experience), Smash Brothers I will all get at release

My Sims, Umbrella Chronicles, RE4, Dewy's Adventure, Dragon Quest Swords, Battalion Wars 2, Fire Emblem, DDR I will get once they drop price a little or if I can get them cheaper somewhere.

I usually wait and pick a game up used, or I get other people to get them for me. Probably more than half my games for last-gen systems were gifts or bought for $15 or less.

I'd like to be, but it just doesn't work for me.

For some reason, when I buy an older game cheap/used, it just feels worthless. I don't know what it is, but it seems like there's something in my head when I buy a game at $20 that says "it's not important to play this game at all" but when I buy one at $50 it's like, "you're wasting your money if you don't play it."

I suppose it's something to do with the freshness of a game. After you hear everyone talk about it for ages and pick it apart, it just loses something special about it.

I do think its a bit funny. Im going to assume most people buying used games and/or rent are due to the high costs of games. Its rather ironic that people that continue to buy used games and rent games are only contributing to higher and higher prices of the very games they buy.

I cant blame them for trying to save a buck, its only natural for people to get a better value for thei money. But anyone that mostly buys used games really has no right to complain if games ever get more expensive.

I 100% Agree. If you look at my previous post where I quoted someone and said that I won't be buying PGR4 when it comes out because I'm still so deep in Forza 2, and therefore I will probably never buy it......this is why. The games lack of freshness has made it lose it's appeal to me. It's weird how the mind does that to someone

Since I bought my PS3 one week after launch, I've bought Resistance, Motorstorm (which I don't ever play). That's it. I haven't touched Resistance since I beat it last Thanksgiving or so. I rent all my games because once I beat I never play again.

After the initial game is made, it takes 50 cent to a dollar to make each game disk. They can easily make bundles on profit even if they charge $30 for games after a couple months.

This is the jib with Pre owned games.

$90 AUD for a new game - For each sale of that game a % goes to the publisher, developer and store. You trade it in and get $40 for it (this is as if the game is brand new)

Now the game is put back on the shelf as a preowned game for $85 or $85. When the game is sold the store will get $40 to $45 from the game - and its not even new stock.

So you see its simply recycling games - and every time a game is traded, more profit is made.

I mean you trade in an Xbox 1 game for $7 AUD and its sold for $20!!!! They are making $7 back and $13 profit from a re-used game - that is freaking robbery!

I'll be honest, ive bught pre owned games quite a few times, but that was before I realised the jibbed system.. Honestly i'd like to support the platforms and devs.

Another note, have you noticed at certain game stores (i dont know what its like in the US), that PC games are always to the back..... Well its done simply because they dont want to sell PC games over console games. Why this big conspiracy? Because there are no preowned PC games, thus no mega profit - Even if PC game sales are rising!

Graah its an evil system..... Funny thing is, in 10 years time most games will probably be soldd via Digital Distrition. I mean there are HUGE PC games sales over D2D, Gametap and STEAM - So we know it works - and its far cheaper than retail.... The backlash has already begun ;)

Depends on the game. Games like Okami and Suikoden I buy new rather quickly to support the developers and to send a message that I want more. Games like MGS and GTA were its a fun game though I don't really care that much I buy when they are buy 2 get one free for 5 bucks a piece at game crazy.

I'm an economic gamer, but not in the sense that I don't buy games at full price or first hand. I'm an economic gamer in that I only buy a game once every few months but manage to buy the games that will take up all the time in between it.For instance, I'll buy games like Advance Wars or Oblivion new, because I know I'll get hundreds of hours of fun from them.

Regarding pre-owned, I have bought a pre-owned game, didn't really think about it. I won't do it again now that I see the issue with it. I prefer supporting developers to saving a few quid every now and then.

I try not to buy pre-owned games because I'm pretty OCD when it comes to not-brand-spanking new looking cases and whatnot.

Also, I try to support the developers, who see none of the money when I buy a game pre-owned.

Only if it will last my family a long time will I pay full price for it. The last games I paid full price for were Pokemon Pearl, Rocket Slimeand Spectrobes. Pokemon gave me 65 hours, Rocket Slime 50 hours, and Spectrobes 40 hours. My kids run around in my saved games now, making them well worth the full price. Otherwise, I wait until a title hits $20 or below new before buying them. I don't have a Gamespot close, but I do hit pawn shops looking for cheap games.
