I am . I just won't spend $70 (in Canada) for a new game unless it's just as long as oblivion.

This is the jib with Pre owned games.

$90 AUD for a new game - For each sale of that game a % goes to the publisher, developer and store. You trade it in and get $40 for it (this is as if the game is brand new)

Now the game is put back on the shelf as a preowned game for $85 or $85. When the game is sold the store will get $40 to $45 from the game - and its not even new stock.

So you see its simply recycling games - and every time a game is traded, more profit is made.

I mean you trade in an Xbox 1 game for $7 AUD and its sold for $20!!!! They are making $7 back and $13 profit from a re-used game - that is freaking robbery!skrat_01

No, they are not making $13 profit. Do you think people work for free? That space rent is free? That electricity is free? Out of that $13, they might make $4-$5 of actual profit at some point when the game actually sells, which might be weeks or months later

Yes I own all 3 systems from last gen with a sizable collection of games for each system. Only once did I pay $50 for a game. I payed $30 about 6 times, $20 or less many times.

Im talking about per unit, not total profits.....

And im sure they generate a large sum of money, as of course.... They are a very sucessful franchise (or chain?) of gaming stores. Very Sucessful.

Even penny arcade did a spiel on pre owned games and the profit it generates........... And prophosised the downfall like many others, via digiatal distribution.

The facts are on the table, all we need to do is wait.

Comming from a personal perspective however: I will always buy retail, or boxed online. I love my hardcopies.

There are a few things I buy straight away. The others, I wait and wait until their price matches my desire.

Oh, and, I only buy used if that's the ONLY way to get a copy of something.

I hate when people I don't know played something of mine first :x.

I usually look for games that are within my price range. With a job, I have money coming in, so I can still go and purchase games that are $50 or $60 without a problem.

Do you know now its cheaper for Aussies to buy games from the U.S ? :P

Our dollar is worth 87 US cents. Thats AWESOME.

Think about it:

$599 USD for a PS3

$1000 AUD for a PS3

Imported US PS3 in AUD $689 :D

HOLY CRAP :D

Depends on the games. If it's a potential blockbuster like Gears of War, Super Mario Galaxy, or MGS4, I'm definitely buying it at launch, assuming I have the money for it. Otherwise, I don't have a problem buying used games, since I've never had a problem with a used game before.

If there is a game or a console that I really want, I am willing to spend the money on it when it first releases. However, I'm also someone who will buy plenty of games which are either on sale or pre-owned to increase the # of titles I can afford to play.
