I've come to a sad realization today as I put my brand new Xbox 360Elite up for sale on my local website. And no, it's nothing against the Xbox (I tradedin my ps3 for it lol), it's just that I didn't find it enjoyable. I played Halo 3 for like 5 hours over a week's time and I just don't have the desire to play it anymore. It was the same thing with my ps3 and Motorstorm, and I also have an uber PC that I built for Crysis, and it will probably end up with the same fate (although I really enjoy the Crysis beta).I find myself having more fun looking at screenshots of upcominggamesand reading the boards than actually playing video games, and now that is even getting boring.

I bought Bioshock and played it for like an hour on PC, but I don't even care if I ever play it again or not. I love Half Life 2, but I haven't even finished Half Life Ep1 despite having it for a year. I played Motorstorm, but I didn't care to finish it. Same with Halo 3, same with Dirt, same with Heavenly Sword, same with Resistance FOM, and same with other games. And it's not like I suck at gaming, I'm pretty good at it. I'm a God in Motorstorm with over 300 races. I played Halo 3 multiplayer once and I had the 2nd most frags. I was always in the top10 on Gran Turismo HD online times, but for some reason I just don't find it fun. The only games that I have truly been addicted to are Counter Strike and MX Unleashed for ps2. If Crysis doesn't excite me, then sadly I won't spend anymore time on gaming.

I guess its becauseI'm getting older (19yrs)and I just don't enjoy video games anymore. And it's sad because I used to love coming home from school/work and just chill on my couch and play a game or two. Its also got me down because ofthe fact that I've spent nearly $3000 on gaming in the last year (ps3, xbox, 32" lcd tv, pc parts, games, etc). Anyone else feel the same way?

Sort-of. Gaming is an expensive hobby. I have no next-gen systems. I've played them though.

You're still pretty young for a gamer considering the average age is around 30. But, if you don't want to play games anymore..that's up to you.

TheDuffman26

Um... I doubt it's because you're getting older, my stepdad is getting ready to hit his 40's and he still plays a lot of games.

And to answer the question, no, I've actually been playing games more than I ever have.

This happened to me too. Just slow down with games for a while. Don't force Yourself.
When something interesting comes along that You want to try then by all means try, just take it slow.

I was like that for a while. The wii was my cure, but i'm not sure it would help You, right now.

No way, and I won't be anytime soon, there are so many quality and addictive games out now and that are coming out soon, that there is no way I could be bored with gaming.

It's not the gaming itself that you're board with...It's mediocore games. The so called "great" Next gen gamesyou are playing right nowjust aren't on par with the great games we were used to playing just last gen. That 's why I haven't purchased any next gen console yet because I'm waiting to see which one, if any, will come through.

It's not your fault that you're board, but it is your fault that you jumpedup and purchased new systems expecting great gaming when no great games have been released so far. And if you actually thought Halo 3 was going to be a "great" game then you let the non stoped lemming hype mechine get you.

Hell, i'm a PS3 fan because I "believe" they was come though with great games (MGS4, FF XIII, and Tekken 6 almost guarentee it) But intil they actually deliver thegames that willblow me away, I'm not going to hand over my money just so I can be disappointed and wanting to sell the system....like you.

To be more accurate, games from last gen are still better than's what currently be produced in this generation of gaming.

I am in your exact situation.

I couldn't even enjoy Halo 3's Campaign because I've seen it a million times before. There fore I only maded it up to the part 3-4 levels then I said meh and I returned the unopen copy of the game to Target.

I dunno if I'm getting older or if the games aren't as fun as they used to be....

2007 the most fun I actually had was playing The Simpsons game demo on PSN.

I believe it's going to take some time before devs and forget about graphics/how many people are in a sean/the shinnyness of the textures and all that stuff. Most of them still seem to be struggleing to get the fundamental elements of making the game workitself to actually have to time to make the game GOOD.

I think this is the main reason most of PS3 high profile titles are being moved to 2008. I think it's a wise desicion on the part of sony and the deveopers to not only get those fundimantal elements right but to also deliver a GOOD game. Something most developers can afford or aren't willing to do.

We will see good games, but in this generation it's taking devs longer to get the fundamentals so it will also take longer to get GOOD games. It's not you, the games right now just aren't that good.

Gaming only moves forward and gets better IMO.

Sure it also gets bad in ways but there's also games that come out like HL2 or KOTOR or Bioshock or Halo 3 or NHL 08 or MGS or Shadow of the Colossus etc....

Gaming rocks!

Yes I am kind of that way sometimes, I think it's simply because gaming is not as good as it used to be now.. In my opinion.. too many generic shooters, too many casualized games that present no challenge, too many rpgs that have lackluster stories and unintresting characters and less quality games basically..

I findd myself browsing these boards more than I do play my PS3 or XBOX 360 which is pretty sad, I'm planning on getting a PC and buying some old games for it, the games that where actually good.

How can you not enjoy Bioshock? Not only is it among the best games in recent years, but it has a compelling story that practically forces you to play it through. I just don't understand how any gamerwould not be gripped by it.

I hated it....other than a good story and great looking enviroments...the gameplay was really really average...you know the part that actually makes the game??? Game was boring....the FPS part of the game (the main part) was just really average....nothing different, special, stand-outish about it at all....

I think people like you need more than one major hobbie. I have three, I'm a competitive downhill bike racer, pastry baker, and gamer. When I race too much downhill or bake one too many birthday cakes, I play a good game and vice versa. Then after a bit, my hobbies feel fresh again.

Then they's hobbies that never get old like womanizing but tha's a different matter.

same...

so many 360 fanboys on this board...and they all think the game is godlike...im willing to bet if it was on ps3 they would say it was nothing special/nothing they havnt played before...

but it was honestly just boring....

Game was boring....the FPS part of the game (the main part) was just really average....nothing different, special, stand-outish about it at all....

This exactly how I feel about bioshock and I FLAMED to death for this.

Kill me for having an Opinion about something.

The gameplay is BORING.

same...

so many 360 fanboys on this board...and they all think the game is godlike...im willing to bet if it was on ps3 they would say it was nothing special/nothing they havnt played before...

but it was honestly just boring....

I really wanted to like this game, but your right it was really boring to me. Killing big daddys was not satisfying to me. The gameplay seemed repetive kill splicers, kill big daddys, power up. I didnt even finish the game but I was about 9 hrs in.

I feel the same way except when i find a game i enjoy there is no sequel or it is too short. I owned a ps1 and did not really care for ps2 except i bought a few games to play on my friends system, God of war ect... The problem i think is due to sequels and lack of core gameplay mechanics such as funfactor, length and innoviation. I enjoyed gears but it was too short. Doom for xbox but, that kind of level by level fps is gone nowadays. The great talent of games that came form treasure(developers) gone also. The only reason i keep my systems is for the next group of AAA titles. I have lost interest in MGS , FF series(except tactics/12 which i have to purchase) and most racing games. All i care about is new IPs such as alan wake, too human, ect...

I think you should or anyone in this situation should rent or seek out classic games.

i think boredom comes from playing games too much. ive been playing halo since it came out and although i didnt get bored playingthe single player, the multiplayer sometimes gets boring. this isbecause ive been doin alot online, more than any other game. So if i do less, im pretty sure the game will stayappealing.

Wow.

Just wow.

I have been feeling like this for awhile now. Almost everything you wrote are the exact words I think of when I think of gaming nowadays. I have no idea what's happening. Just a few months ago, I was ecstatic. Now it feels like I can't even get up for Metroid Prime. Have FEAR, HL, GTA: VC on PC and haven't played them in weeks. I feel EXACTLY the same way.

Hopefully it'll change. Well, maybe it's better if it doesn't. :)

I think people like you need more than one major hobbie. I have three, I'm a competitive downhill bike racer, pastry baker, and gamer. When I race too much downhill or bake one too many birthday cakes, I play a good game and vice versa. Then after a bit, my hobbies feel fresh again.

Good idea.

I'm also 19 years old and finding gaming to be boring and a waste of money. But I do play Zelda for my DS once in a while, its a great casual game to play when waiting for the bus. I come to these boards just read other people's messages, which can be quite funny.

its normal to get bored of something that you do on a regular basis, don't worry though you will be sucked back in meanwhile you should try a new hobby.

With the Hellgate London, Tabula Rasa, Crysis, Warhammer, and (one Ic an't name) betas on my PC and Halo 3 in my 360 I'm far from bored with gaming. I also got an undisclosed company sending me an early release of a game to review for a website that I can't name. Aaaaah gaming right now is great.

And thats why, like the other guy said its good to have more than one hobby. When you play something for 10-15 hours a week your bound to get bored of it eventually. Try something new and then come back to gaming later on.
