Same here and also for some strange reason if i'm bored i usually play an RPG game ( usually kings bounty or the withcher) until i get "unbored" againOccasionally I get bored of just about everything for small periods, even games I enjoy alot at that particular time, and then I just stop and can't continue. It's usually a bit confusing, but for whatever reason I just play an RPG and I'm fine again, and can go back to what I was playing previously.

Don't sell your system just take a break for a little while. You do not have to play it everyday heck every week to justify owning it. The worst will be the day you really want to game and its not there.

I had the same happen to me I was last year but I think im done with gameing for a few months. I am addicted it keeps me up late and all I do is play its becoming an issue and I think a few months away will help.
I spend more time reading about games than I do playing them.

I think the same goes for me.
I've come to a sad realization today as I put my brand new Xbox 360Elite up for sale on my local website. And no, it's nothing against the Xbox (I tradedin my ps3 for it lol), it's just that I didn't find it enjoyable. I played Halo 3 for like 5 hours over a week's time and I just don't have the desire to play it anymore. It was the same thing with my ps3 and Motorstorm, and I also have an uber PC that I built for Crysis, and it will probably end up with the same fate (although I really enjoy the Crysis beta).I find myself having more fun looking at screenshots of upcominggamesand reading the boards than actually playing video games, and now that is even getting boring.
I bought Bioshock and played it for like an hour on PC, but I don't even care if I ever play it again or not. I love Half Life 2, but I haven't even finished Half Life Ep1 despite having it for a year. I played Motorstorm, but I didn't care to finish it. Same with Halo 3, same with Dirt, same with Heavenly Sword, same with Resistance FOM, and same with other games. And it's not like I suck at gaming, I'm pretty good at it. I'm a God in Motorstorm with over 300 races. I played Halo 3 multiplayer once and I had the 2nd most frags. I was always in the top10 on Gran Turismo HD online times, but for some reason I just don't find it fun. The only games that I have truly been addicted to are Counter Strike and MX Unleashed for ps2. If Crysis doesn't excite me, then sadly I won't spend anymore time on gaming.
I guess its becauseI'm getting older (19yrs)and I just don't enjoy video games anymore. And it's sad because I used to love coming home from school/work and just chill on my couch and play a game or two. Its also got me down because ofthe fact that I've spent nearly $3000 on gaming in the last year (ps3, xbox, 32" lcd tv, pc parts, games, etc). Anyone else feel the same way?

If you play only the hyped and "AAA" games then you are definatly going to get bored
In fact if i only played shooters or linear 5 hour games i would have stoped gaming decades back
Try some of the less scored games, these are by miles the best ones, the AAA and great scored ones are the worst games these days by far
Playing hyped and games with good scores and AAA status is a guarantee to get bored, these titles take huge ammounts of money to make like movies but are not about fun at all, they are about watching the game and doing a same repeatitve thing over and over
I can relate but I think it's the games that are getting more boring since i can easily go play sonic 3 start to finish and it felt like it was the first time i'm playing it. There is always a few games that are great nowadays, but gaming in general is not as fun and way too much limited compare to beforeI've come to a sad realization today as I put my brand new Xbox 360Elite up for sale on my local website. Not at the moment, but I've been bored of gaming countless times. What you're going through is pretty much a phase. You shouldn't find it a shame though, it's how you feel, if you're bored go do something else--go out with friends, read a book, or help yourself into doing something else that you like.
Right now I'm on that same phase but it's pretty much with reading--I haven't touched a book in a few months. Sooner or later you're going to gain interest again and if you don't, hell, there's so much out there that can entertain you or make you busy.
Just don't take it as a sad realization though, not only is it a bit silly, but taking gaming or any other form of entertainment as some sort of commitment is the easiest way for you to get bored out of it.
Am I the only one who realized that this thread is from 2007...

Seems I just gave some advice to the TC back in 2007
Nope, I've never become bored with gaming. I switch between game types, go from an uber-game to a casual one, then select from several different uber-games.
I'm feeling that way with FPS', I was hyping up Killzone 3 and I've considered getting it a few times but I just don't really feel the appeal anymore. The only FPS I'm excited for is Rage, and that's because it's open-world, by id (love those guys) and creative weapons, amazing AI, 60fps, etc. etc. so many reasons. But I'm really getting tired of FPS'. The only games I'll be getting this year are RAGE, Battlefield 3 (I can never get bored of the battlefield series, but I do get bored of the individual games, BC2 lasted me a good 200 hours, I expect BF3 to last me more than that) TES: Skyrim, and Uncharted 3: Drakes Deception(Yes, I'm a huge uncharted fan).
instead of selling everything, why dont you try other hobbies in moderation with gaming?
edit: just realised how old this game is
u bet he sold his xbox all compulsively, and then like a week later he was like "i feel like playing some halo....CRAP"
I Wrote a topic on this over a week ago TC on how gaming has become a redundant cycle of graphics one upmanship and shooters with no end in site.
i got ripped apart for stating what should be abundantly obvious.
that gaming is stuck in a rut. a rut of shooter wanting to be the next halo and Sony fans going ape over games with great graphics and little to no replay value.
of the glut of casual games smothering the market.
so yes, gaming has gotten stale.
Only when nothing but shallow games come out. I have no interest in Call of Duty, Halo, Killzone, Mario, Zelda, Dead Space or whatever major games are coming out. They are good once in a while but my main love in gaming is the simplicity of making a very complex game.
A game can have a difficult learning curve but once passed gives hundreds of hours of entertainment. Total War, Heroes of Newerth, League of Legends (to a much lesser extent), X3, Magicka, Natural Selection, and Guild Wars (PVP in particular) all are deep games that I keep coming back to because of how much there is to learn and how much I have to think.
On the other side of the coin story based games keep my interest too. Give me a world and I will rip apart the lore in addition to the storyline within a game. Planescape Torment keeps my mind working on this world with so much depth to it.
I know it sounds cliche but the day that blockbusters take over completely is the day I quit gaming.
it's sad because I used to love coming home from school/work and just chill on my couch and play a game or two. Its also got me down because ofthe fact that I've spent nearly $3000 on gaming in the last year (ps3, xbox, 32" lcd tv, pc parts, games, etc). Anyone else feel the same way?

Wait what? If you enjoy coming home and relaxing with a video game THEN KEEP THE CONSOLE! I don't understand your logic.
