Poll Are you getting a PS5 or an Xbox Series X Day One and why? (130 votes)

PS5 37%
Xbox Series X 25%
Both 6%
Neither 32%

I'm getting a PS5 day one. I got to have it. After seeing what Epic has done with the hardware and knowing the quality of work PS Studios put in, I'm sure for most that's a no brainer. I have an Xbox One so for now I don't need to upgrade to chase Craig around with a carbine lol

Anyway, who's upgrading and what games influenced that decision?

@hardwenzen: Its been delayed. No big deal. If it makes the game better I’m 100% supportive of it.

And even without it the lineup is still more impressive, The Medium, Hellblade 2, Fable, Avowed, Forza Motorsport, Grounded, Darktide - All far more interesting and varied than what Sony has shown so far.

Why are you mentioning games that won't be out in 2020, not 2021, not in 2022, and high chance of not even being ready in 2023? This lineup would've been very impressive if it was for 2020-2021, but it isn't, its far from that. Be happy if Hellblade 2, Fable and Avowed are released before half of the next generation has passed.

@hardwenzen: Because these are games that have actually been announced. Sony has announced next to nothing beyond a Ratchet and Clank and Horizon sequel which also won't be out for quite a while. Everything else is multiplat.

I'm sure that will change, Sony undoubtedly has things in the works. But as of this moment, Microsoft has simply shown more than they have which makes me more optimistic for Xbox's future than Sony's. And there's no getting around the fact that Microsoft is offering a massive library of games (old and new) that will be available immediately at launch. This is very exciting for those of us who love to build collections and replay old favourites. I'm really looking forward to it and I think the Series X will be a great console.

Horizon is for next year guaranteed and isn't Ratchet a launch title? Sony didn't even show everything they had. They have a show incoming that will be focused on the ps5, and that's where we'll see what's up.

This upcoming show, would it be increasing the number of launch titles for the PS5? Ratchet and Clank isn't listed as a launch title nor was a launch date release. Spider-Man is the only launch exclusive title announced.

I’m getting the Xbox Series X day one because I like the Xbox platform and ecosystem the most. I also really enjoy Halo and want to play Infinite day one on that system along with a number of third party games that are coming out around the same time. I also have a very extensive library of Xbox games and look forward to seeing how many of them perform on the new system as well.

I’ll get a PS5 later on down the road.

that sucks you get to play halo day one no more. and i don't mean this in a laughing matter. it sucked so bad when last of us 2 did not come out last feb. even though i never ended up getting it. but before the leaks i couldn't wait to play it.

gunk looks good and grounded but those can be played on xbox one.

maybe ps5 first because there alot of games coming in 2020 and 2021 for the ps5. you will see after there next show. they held off showing on 3 of there games one being a launch title.

those three are rumored to be resistance, socom, and god of war. all in 2021

then you have silent hill not showed yet that is coming in 2021.

along with ratchet and clank, demon souls, hzd2, miles, kena bridge of spirits and few other all in 2021.

i think 2022 is the year xbox will roll out there gems.

and use the xbox one x if you have it until xbox is ready.

this is not me trying to sell you a ps5 lol. you said you will get one later down the road.

might want to rethink this before you buy a next gen machine without next gen games.

unless you buy more third party games and they most likely will run better on the series x.

Then what kind of a clusterf*ck of a launch lineup is that>>>

If things remain as they currently stand, neither console has a stellar launch line-up.. Xbox lost a cross-gen game that got delayed and PlayStation has a Spiderman game that could easily be described as "standalone DLC"..

That said, Spiderman: Miles Morales is absolutely better than nothing and will carry tons of marketing potential.. still, this is easily the worst console launch across the board for both parties involved..

Stellar? Its not even good. Its not even decent. Its trash. A trash launch lineup. I am not getting a PS5 if all there is to play is Spiderman, a superhero game, something i cannot stand.

@gifford38: Yeah it certainly would have been nice to play Halo: Infinite day one when the system launched but these things don’t really bother me much to be honest. I always have more then enough games to play anyway so I can wait.

Still plan on getting the Xbox Series X at launch because I just enjoy getting new hardware. There’s enough third party games that I want to get and play on the XSX. At the end of the day first or third party they are all just games that I want to play on the system anyway. I also want to really check out a bunch of games that I already own and see how they run on the new more powerful system.

good answer im the same way with the ps5. im holding off from ghost until i get the ps5. plus i have the psvr and it being black and white its going look so nice next to the ps5 lol. i just to much ps4 games physical copies that its hard to change systems. but once fable comes and a few more games xbox will be mine. i skipped xbox this gen so i want to play some games i missed out on to. like sea of thiefs and oni and gears 5

but i know what you mean once you get to one system ecosystem its hard to change.

After the recent news of halo Infinite being delayed, I have decided the PS5 will be my first console this gen. I was flipping back and forth, but Spiderman and Bloodborne are my most played games this gen and Demon's Souls was my most played the gen before. So with more spiderman coming, I'll go that way. Plus Kena looks amazing.

PS5, because they always have better exclusive games. I will get a series x though after about 3yrs later. MS isn't gonna burn me anymore, I've learned my lesson.

Returnal dumps of all of those games plus we got to see gameplay of it. We haven't seen gameplay of any of those games you listed except for Grounded and thus far that's gotten 6s on both IGN and Gamespot.

Aside from Returnal, there's the new Square game that looks amazing (because they showed actual gameplay), Ratchet&Clank look AMAZING, Sack boy looked super fun, Deathloop looks great, Demon Souls remake looks AMAZING.

I know Hellblade is probably going to be an amazing game but I'm not sold on Avowed just because it had a cool CG trailer. Forza is going to be great...that we know everything else is up in the air at this point.
