@JangoWuzHere: Killer Instinct

I liked MK9 as it was a return the the epic MK2 and the story arc was the one for 1-2-3 with slight variation and it was good ... now they kind of goof it up again just like Deadly Aliance, Deception and Armageddon were ... many returning caracter that shouldn't be here at all ...
MK9 was a lot of fun, and it felt like MK finally had a fighting engine that didn't completely suck dick and being overshadowed by cool ass finishers. So yeah I'm excited for MKX.
The reason the few people that talk fighting games on this forum don't talk MK is, because games like Guilty Gear and Street Fighter fucking outclass MK on their worst day. Killer Instinct is nostalgia goggles, because those old games have awful fighting engines. The new one is actually pretty decent, albeit one could argue it has better teaching tools than an actual game.
Even being that MK is proboly my favorite fighting game series I can agree with you on others being much more deep. Though the characters and gore kept me coming back. I also like that they have a story mode and added single player modes since while I know some feel all a fighting need is online sometimes you dont want to get outclassed online but just want to play the game and modes like that help.

I never thought I could enjoy a story mode in a fighting game, but MK9 had me hooked. I played it all in one sitting. A lot of my enjoyment hinged on nostalgia since I love the MK 1, 2 and 3 era, but hopefully MKX can pull me in all the same.
Hell yeah I am each character has 3 separate type to choose, oh the options, can't wait to see how that plays out. Day one purchase for sure!
Well, I'll be a little cautious. The 3 fighting style mechanic isn't a new thing. Mortal Kombat 5, 6 and 7 already had that, and was received with lukewarm reception. The number of fighting styles each character will have isn't gonna make or break the game. It seems that content, 2D gameplay and story is what made MK9 critically acclaimed

This is a bit different though.
I haven't played Armageddon, but in Deadly Alliance and Deception, the different fighting styles were on-the-fly switches that happened during the course of the fight.
In MKX, these fighting styles are load outs for the entire match. You pick your character, then you pick your style. In a way, this artificially increases the roster, though I'm not sure exactly how substantial the differences will be from one style to the next.
This could turn out great, or shitty, or it might not even carry much weight either way, but it is different from what we've seen before with this series.
