when you can use the same controllers and sit in the same position as you can on consoles, and then you have things like mods and vastly higher resolutions, it ceases being an opinion

Consoles are simpler and many of my friends own a 360 and/or PS3. Plus consoles have some amazing exclusives that appeal more to me than big exclusives on the PC. Honestly, as of lately, I've been preferring my DSi XL over the PC and consoles.

I have a solid PC I can just about everything maxed, but still love my PS3. I am a huge action adventure fan, games like Zelda and Uncharted can not be found on the PC. I think Steam is pushing me to go more PC though with the killer sales.

I set up the network at home and administer all my room mates computers on our domain.

My friends always come up to me to help them out with their PCs and devices.

I'm a Desktop/Junior Systems Admin. Looking to complete my

MCSE+Security -CCA -CCNA course online.

Might go back to Uni and Study Computer Science

I think I've mentioned it here a few times I'm a Technophille.

One of the big appealsof Consoles is the Conveniance.

I have a PC, although it isn't high end or anything I can manage games like Crysis just fine. I just have to tweak the settings a little bit to make it playable. I usually use my PC for older games, like Deus Ex, Vampire, Morrowind. Those type of games seem nonexistent all around right now and I like to reexperience them.

The reason I end up playing my PS3 more often than my PC is because the games I enjoy the most are there, such as Uncharted 2. I also end up buying multiplats on my PS3 just because I find it more convienent and comfortable (just opinion). My TV is also way bigger than my monitor.

I will say though, that with FPS and TPS games like Battlefield or Assassin's Creed, I'll happily play on my PS3 because the differences on the PC aren't enough to change my mind. But there are some games that have to be played on the PC, imo. I bought Dragon Age day 1 for my PC, beat it twice and last month found a really cheap copy for the PS3 and figured I wouldn't mind playing one more time. I found that game practically unplayable on the PS3.

complete opposite.

I can replace the HDD, Graphics Card and RAM and know where some things are inside the PC, but that's about it.

Generally, I just prefer Consoles.

I am tech-savvy and love building custom PCs. I prefer consoles fot the following reasons: 1) Motion sensing. I love the PS Move and Kinect, so I prefer consoles primarily for that reason. If motion sensing never existed, I would be a 90% PC gamer. 2) I prefer playing in front of my TV while sitting on my bed, rather than a desk with chair. Yes, I know you can connect your PC to a TV, but I won't bother that much just to play games. I use my PC for work, so I don't want to connect it to my TV and vice versa when I switch from work to games. On top of that, keyboard and mouse feels clumsy on a bed 3) Most of my real-life friend play online on consoles rather than PC.

The troll is strong with this one...

Mods (can't get enough of MWLL :D)and Steam keep me gaming more on PC than PS3, can't beat PS3 exclusives though.

I am. I have a pretty good gaming PC (It's not top of the line but it runs somewhat new games like BC2 and STALKER: CoP on high settings) but I still prefer playing on my Xbox 360. I mainly prefer consoles because: a) I don't really care about the "advantages" PC gaming has over console gaming such as mods, better graphics, dedicated servers, KB+M, (slightly) lower price overall, and whatever else I forgot. They might be important to you, but really, I just don't feel that they enhance the gaming experience significantly and are rarely worth the trouble PC gaming can sometimes be. Which leads to: b) I like the simplicity of console gaming. With consoles, you only have to upgrade every 5-6 years. The upgrading process is dead simple, just buy one single machine of your choice (or more) and plug it in. Nothing about painstakingly selecting parts or taking the time to put it all together. Once I get my hands on a game I can just jump right in and start playing without having to fumble with patches, drivers, hardware upgrades, installs, or anything of that sort. DRM is rare in console games, which means I can very easily sell games I own, borrow games from friends or rent games to try them out. Compared to PC gaming, console gaming is relatively hassle free.

Funny thing is, you dont have to just play Crysis and the Witcher on PC ;). I was just playing Bad COmpany 2 on my PC with far superior graphics, controls, and amount of players (compared to consoles). I love my PC. PC IS the best, but yes consoles have some amazing exclusives I will never ignore (Zelda, Uncharted, Metroid, Mario, and more).

DragonfireXZ95

Funny i was just playing Bad Company 2 on my PS3. Small world lol

Just as i said, i don't have fun gaming on my PC. No idea why. I could sit at home with my PS3, 360, Wii or DS and play for hours. I play a game on my PC and get bored in like 10 mins. I guarantee you if Crysis and The Witcher were on PS3 i would have beat them.

Sounds like you're just biased. Not a real gamer.

Not really, it just sounds like he happens to hate Crysis and The Witcher...

For some reason, I really don't believe you, especially if you have DA2 on the 360.

Wow bro you shut down three people in a row for preferring consoles (they didn't even say consoles were better, just preference) and ironically, you had the nerve to call one of them "biased" in the process. :roll: You are the biased one! :lol:

just kidding;) but still, I don't know why it is so unconceibable to just PREFER consoles.

You play games in sub-hd and low-med settings on consoles because no game on any system has surpassed the technical graphics of Crysis?

Consoles have the exclusives I want, the console multiplats(an example is Bayonetta), certain genres do better on them(platformers, fighters, action adventure) I have friends that play on them and that's pretty much it.

I prefer the graphics, higher framerates, mod support, community, exclusive features, controls, server browsers(not many console games have it), best multiplats(unless unoptimized) and lots of exclusives on PC as well, along with building PCs for fun.

I think PC has the edge on this one.

there is a demo out too, he might have played that, right? there is previews and gameplay vids everywhere, he might have watched those? You guys are just assuming that since he prefers consoles, he must be lying about owning a pc.

I prefer what PC has to offer, but mostly game on my consoles simply because they afford me more convineince and comfort than my PC does. I like kicking back on my couch and playing on my large HD-TV than hunkered down in front of a relatively small screen sitting in a small chair. I know I can play my PC like I do my consoles, but it's such a hassle to set up. Plus, a lot of PC gaming requires a bit of technical know-how install, get to run, mods, etc. Most of the time I just want to pop in and play. So unless there's an exclusive on the PC that is impossible to get on my console, I'll usually stick to consoles the majority of the time. That said though, I think PC gaming brings a better gaming experience.

There's a time and place for PC gaming and a time and place for console gaming. It depends what you prefer. If you want to be involved in communities of your game. PC is the way to go. It's easier to be involved in a community on PC, where you can just congregate on an IRC channel idling, have a community forum Alt+Tabbed while your playing, or just being logged in on Steam while your computer is idling. If you need to entertain a number of present guests at a household, console gaming is the way to go.

Painstakingly selecting parts? Really?

And patches, drivers?

Steam does those 2 for you actually.

Also hardware upgrades are not mandatory, unless you buy crap in the first place.

He just said he would play the games if they were on the PS3 as opposed to the PC. Why would the platform matter? If he actually liked playing games and stuck with an unbiased view, he would just sit down and enjoy those games on whatever platform is available.

I'm playing Alan Wake on my RROD'd 360(DVD drive is bad, so I got the download version), and I would prefer to play it on my PC, but I can't, so what do I do? Not play the game? No, I play on my 360, even though I hate controllers and I'm actually enjoying the game.

If I can game on a 360 and PS3 despite hating controllers, I think he can play through those games and not become bored... How do you become bored just because it's on a different platform? That's called Bias.

It's conceivable to prefer consoles, however the reasons they gave were pretty bad and it almost seemed like they don't actually own gaming PC's. They are just saying what they want to say in the defense of consoles.

Loving mass effect series on pc, but besides I'm going back to ps2 these days. That console alone trumps all 4 major platforms combined.

also, you can sit back on your couch and still own at a game.

No, the reason I hate them is the analog sticks. Especially for third person/first person games.

I'm very fast on a keyboard, so every button that's assigned is at instant reach.

I'll take my mouse over those crappy analog sticks anyday.

I could never do this consistently with a controller:

They should make a FPS Multi Plat for PC, 360 and PS3 and link the servers together. That would be interesting. We could see if controller type matters.

I guess you can hook a ps3 and 360 controller up to a PC and play games with the different controllers and find out.

People like you are exactly people wich are holding competitive gaming back lol. I bet your mind explodes at the word 'keybindings'.

I would decimate you so badly controller vs mouse. And not to forget better framerates, higher fov ( lol at 55 on consoles ) and better AA. I would kill the **** out of U by only seeing one pixel and shooting at it.

lol wtf I assume you are talking about if we played an FPS or RTS, right? yea you would probably destroy me.... I never said the opposite, tho. I just said they are more comfy. :| In the other hand if you are talking about a fighting game or an action/adventure like NG 2 survival mode... then I would destroy you. badly.

also, the part in red is cool. you assume someone's mental capacity based on their gaming preferences? nice

No, the reason I hate them is the analog sticks. Especially for third person/first person games.

I'm very fast on a keyboard, so every button that's assigned is at instant reach.

I'll take my mouse over those crappy analog sticks anyday.

I could never do this consistently with a controller:

alfredooo

Mouse is obviously faster and more accurate than an analog stick. But then the same can be said about the analog stick when you compare it to WASD. That's why sometimes I wish I could get an analog stick on my left hand and a mouse in the right hand, that would be so awesome for a lot of games.

Your sight is essential for movement. Digital is faster than analog, you know this right?

Analog sticks do not allow for better movement in FPS games, it's all in conjunction with your sight which is bound to your mouse/right analog stick. If you do not realize this, I don't know what to tell you. You might not be very good at FPS/TPS or platformers if you don't know this.

you hate controllers? don't you find them comfy as they fit your hands pefectly, every button at instant reach, and the best part: analog sticks! no WASD crap. controllers. ftw.

also, you can sit back on your couch and still own at a game.

People like you are exactly people wich are holding competitive gaming back lol. I bet your mind explodes at the word 'keybindings'.

nope lol. I love my PS3 and my Wii (although PS3 more), but PC is the best :).

NaveedLife

Same here. I keep my PS3 and Wii around for their respective exclusives, but PC gaming is king.

never referred to fps (or any genre) in specific. and yes I know mouse is better than analog... i said it above. mouse>>>analog>WASD

of course, WASD is not as relevant in an FPS because you use sight to put signal direction.

I'm not bashing anything btw, if that's the idea you are getting.

Obviously you have no idea what I'm talking about, and it's too hard to explain. So you have fun with that.

ok.... I think you are the one who has missed the point of what I posted, all I said is analog is more accurate than WASD.... unless you are implying the opposite then I don't know what you are arguing about.

For me, it strikes just the right balance amongst several factors:

  • price
  • easily available at retail
  • convenient, out-fo-the-box experience
  • ergonomics

I can't afford a capable PC at the moment. That is why I do not have a gaming PC. But if I did have one I would still game on PS3 mostly because I'm used to it. I've been console gaming for a long time and I like it.

mrmusicman247
if you took all the money you used to buy games on the ps3 and save em up...200+300 and use ebay and amazon you could create a highly capable pc, that actually can offer you true hd gaming, compare to the ps3..lol

I really also have another good reason pitty, because games these days are going more multiplat and being dumbed down for consoles. Meaning that alot of times new games are sometimes even better on consoles. *Cough*... GTA4 for example. Any other examples?sethman410

First of all what you said it simply doesn't make any sense. Multiplat are always much better on pc no matter what.

GTA4 PC version(how it is on my pc)

* Mods
* option to use k/b or 360-controller or whatever controller you like.
* Fast loading
* video editor
* online with 32 players
* Don't require to use the dvd in order to play the game just double-click
* much better graphics
* 1920x1200
* fps 45-70fps
* high textures rez
* large view distance
* more traffic(casr, pedestrians)
* much better shadows
* other effects on high etc.

GTA 4 console version

* no Mods
* slow loading
* online with 16 players
* require to use the dvd in order to play the game
* Looks unbelievable bleary...
* 1280x720 – 1152x640(ps3)
* low fps 20-25fps
* low textures rez
* low view distance
* low traffic(cars, pedestrians)
* poor shadows
* other effects on low etc.

'Rasies hand* Yep, I love my PC but I just prefer the console experience most of the time. I couldn't ever play something like Football Manager on a console though.

well the fact that GTA IV had so many issues was a sign that Rockstar cared so little about the Pc platform.

what issues:? all the facts indicate that the PC version is much better. Did you even read the bullet points in my post?
