The PS3 isn't an infallible piece of hardware (obviously no where near as bad as the 360), but also the failure rates of the PS1 and 2 may have left a sour taste in the mouthes of older consumers.dommeus

I still have my PS1 from 1997.

Never bought a PS2 though....I had a Dreamcast. Can't vouch for PS2.

Dreamcast is alive and kicking too. 8)

You basically just proved what I said earlier. The average consumer is stupid and purchases the 360 because they know their buddy has it and it plays CoD so why not...herp de derp. IDK maybe because if they were smart and did research they would know that the system was a rediculously awful piece of tech (IDK if the slim is still). These are the same people that buy alienware PC's that are WAAY to exepnsive and overheat (laptops). Luckily, we have the knowledge to be smarter than the average consumer ;).

While I hear and understand what you are saying, I am glad I don't see it totally that way. I don't believe the average consumer is stupid for buying a 360 or PS3 or Wii. I believe this is our passion. I am not passionate about car engines, so I can't be bothered with researching them. If someone doesn't want to research game consoles and buys a 360, I don't see a problem with their intelligence.

True, but if you buy a car to get you places and you go with something horribly unreliable and it breaks down in a couple years, where as you could have went with something very reliable like a Honda and it lasts you far longer for the same price, wouldnt you have wished you had the knowledge of knowing that? I know what you mean, but luckily for us, we DO have that knowledge when it comes to gameing ;).

don't talk about cars, it won't help your cause.

you and you friend can buy the same car, and it doesnt mean they both will or wont break, it all depends on how you drive it, and where, you wouldnt in your right mind drive a enzo in winter, also how hard you brake, can also damage your car faster, and if you never get your oil replaced well car troubles!. no one should ever compare consoles to cars.

Yeah the 360 desperately needs more exclusives. I'm scared they're just gonna focus on Kinect from now on though.

yeah, I realized I was being childish :/ Lots of flaws in my logic. Just was sick of MS taking everything for granted. I mean it kinda sickened me (especially in the situation I am in Off topic so I won't go into it) but Really I'm sour right ow- bad mood sowee I reported you SUD123456 you caught me in a bad mood. Anyways you had really good arguements. They kinda bummed me out, I highly doubt MS will start trying any harder than crusie control since they don't have to really try to sell consoles.

IMO opinion MS/360 problem is where the money is going. MS has WAAAAAAY more money than Sony but Sony spends much more money on ACTUAL games. All MS does is advertise and advertise and advertise and advertise, i mean 500 million USD for kinect alone? o.O No wonder Sony 1st party games are better than the best on the 360, if only they spend a little more money on games... Honestly they ever charge for the online service, they can't afford better/more dev teams?

2) Some cars have better parts, more features, and are put together better....Just like consoles or anything

[QUOTE="mayceV"]strange I expected hundreds of lemmings to attack me. Funny thing is I posted this n the Xbox forums and nearly everybody is agreeing too. I honestly can't see why someone would buy a 360 at this point unless for kinect or XBLA since MS obviously is oblivious to the fact hat they need a bigger 1st party. (hints of flame bait in here)dommeus
How many more exclusives does the PS3 have? Like 10? Not everyone is going to like those 10 games. I'm not defending MS, but where I live the xbox is cheaper than the PS3 and the kinect bundle is only a little more. Not every consumer is going to find out about all the exclusives and make a decision. Not every gamer is as 'core' as most of SW is. For some it is just a passing hobby, playing popular games like COD, Madden, Fifa etc...they likely make up the large majority of the console userbase, and they couldn't give two ****s.

This^ My guess is 60% of console gamers are just the average joe

1) its for everyone

2) cars have better parts because they are for a different type of person. Consoles are for anyone, Cars are not which is why there are soo different options, not everyone wants the sports package, not everyone wants a small car like a fiesta. someone with money will go for a Lexus over Toyota, both are owned by Toyota, but they are different because they are made for a different group

I hear ya guys, but some "casual" gamers do indeed buy consoles (PS3) for some exclusives. I would say God of War III is one of the biggest ones for casual gamers to notice. Gran Turismo might be up there too. BTW it has way more than 10 ;). not saying I love them all, but it has quite a few haha.

I did not bring up "cars". I merely used a subject I have no interest in, ENGINES, to illustrate that I still wish to drive my car although I am not passionate about engines. Point being, we are not the average consumer in the video game market. We are aficianados in gaming. The point brought up about exclusives against MS are not hindering their sales. The average consumer just doesn't care that much about these details. They want to play what's popular, at the cheapest price.

Precisely the reason the Xbox brand doesn't appeal to me. I don't care about Halo, Gears or Fable and don't think XBL is not worth the cost. Alan Wake doesn't intrigue me as much and the 360 is just too alien for my tastes. Where's the God of War type game? Where is the MGS type game? Demon's Souls? I know Im just picking the exclusives 360 doesn't have but it's not my fault Sony caters to my gaming needs better, heck even Nintendo has titles Im interested in and if Im not buying that than 360 doesn't have chance to appeal to me this gen.

I'd say games like MGS and GT are definitely up there. Gears too, I guess a 360 owner looking for a racing game will see Forza, but obviously the brand doesn't carry nearly as much clout as GT. Especially in the EU and Japan (which is also where the PS3 happens to be beating the 360).
