Arkane Lyon is reportedly working on a "more ambitious" project

According to a supposedly trustworthy but biased insider, Microsoft never really believed much in Redfall in the first place.

Critics and audiences don't like Redfall at all and the situation is getting worse. Now, there's an influx of new info about the game's development. An interesting tale supposedly comes from a French retailer who throws Arkane Lyon and Redfall under the bus.

For context, Arkane Studios is split into two different studios. Arkane Lyon is the lead developer of the Dishonored franchise and Deathloop. Meanwhile, Arkane Austin worked on Prey, which had nothing to do with the game of a similar name from way back then, and Redfall.

Going back to the source, a rough translation claims that no one believed in Redfall and Microsoft wanted to push it out of development as soon as possible. Furthermore, Arkane Lyon is working on a "much more ambitious game," which is in line with earlier rumors.

Unfortunately, the same source refused to reveal more information about what Arkane Lyon is working on.

Please Make immersive sims again. instead of some online coop loot crap.

Hope its Dishonored 3, Prey 2 or new IP that is immersive sim.

After redfall faliure. Arkane should return to immersive sims again.

Not sure if I believe that rumour, but I agree completely that Arkane should return to immersice sims! The Dishonored games are so good! And Deathloop was pretty great as well. Don’t know what the hell this Redfall thing was all about.

They didn't even have the budget to do cutscenes in Redfall, and you expect a quality title from ANYTHING Arkane? They cut local coop in Infinite because of resources as well. Remember, the game is made for Gamepass in mind. They're not making anything by releasing on their rent service, and when you can't turn a juicy profit Sony, and especially Nintendo exclusives make, you have no choice but to release low effort shovelware aka Minimum Viable Product.

Forget quality titles from Arkane, and accept them as the new Rare.

Its a good thing i never really cared for their games, tho. Loved the depth and level design, but everything was bleh.

What the snapping crocodile's beak happened to Arkane Austin?

They made one of the worst shooters in ages, guns have terrible aiming and reloading mechanics. And they threw away everything they stood for, having multiple routes to any objective, for "find X key to open Y door"

Prey was good. Not sure WTF happened since then, but Raphaël Colantonio leaving did not help. They have lost their way.

Both Skillup and Gmanlives make some really great points, things that should be a developers 101. And also a lot of it seems like the developer is shooting its own feet while also pissing in the wind. Like this reverse logic.

For example Skillup mentions that a good portion of the skill tree is dedicated to increased ammo counts for your guns... When you'll never run out of ammo anyway. Reminds me of games like COD or BF where they place ammo boxes in missions, so scared of losing the players attention when he starts exploring and finds... nothing.

And then Gmanlives also mentions skills and upgrades, and mentions how your health goes from 100 starting points to like 250 at the end, yet you never get stronger health kits. You'll just need to heal more in the end. Instead of the game upgrading your health kits they go with all these meaningless or worse, illogical upgrades.

Honestly Ghosts' theory sounds plausible and watching this turd of a game has me believing that Arkane is already working on the next game and might have been doing while developing this flop.

And then there is that PCgamer preview that I read a month ago that diminished vampires alltogether and said they were just attack dogs.

It stuck with me and yup, that's all they are. They are attack dogs from Wolfenstein 3D that attack you in a straight line.

That leaves human enemies which try shotgunning you from 50 meters away and don't even bother coming closer to attack you eventhough nothing is in their way.

None of this makes any bloody sense.

Probably not Prey, though I would no doubt love another of those. Arkane Austin made Prey and they just did Redfall, I figure Arkane Lyon would leave it to their Austin studio. New Dishonred or a new IP perhaps. Curious about whether they'll revamp their Void engine with maybe improvements to the newer iterations id Tech.

The new Rare is fantastic though. A different group of people from the OG Rare, bit still a fantastic group nonetheless.

Nope, it's still the same slogan MS launched with at the start of this generation...

Nothing for xboys has changed that from this seemingly always applicable tag line.

Didn't that team make Deathloop? A game with Ai just as bad as Redfalls and only four levels that were about as big as a single Dishonored level, that all the critics loved for some reason?

Deathloop was disappointing, so Arkane is off my "good developer" list.
