How does the animation compare in the games? Uncharted series has some incredible animations, it is beautiful to watch.Ravensmash
The animation system in ArmA can be broken at times; as in animation loops cannot be interrupted in instances.

Mo-capped and applied it can look great, however the transition between animations is noticeably jarring. One of the reasons the a.i. can look less intelligent than it actually is, is due to their animations being unconvincing if not odd.

Uncharted 2 is a world ahead in this regard.

I'll vote for the one the has over 140 awards, 50 GOTY awards and its one of the highest rated games of all times....funny how hardware of 2005 can outscore the supposed"etilists" games :D

tonitorsi
And I choose the one which is technically better...

Uncharted 2 by 6666 miles, HDTV's make computer games look like crap. Plus it got a higher score on Gamespot and it is more popular. I'd love to see hermits come up with technology more advanced than The Cell™.

well that depends what you find more imprssive?

Uncharted 2 utterly romps it in terms of character models and animations but hermits will praise arma 2 for the scale and amount going on screen at a time.

ArmA 2 wins, end of story. Anyone denying that has not played ArmA 2 in it's full glory.

Puckhog04
Well full glory is very demanding on that game, so i might as well go for uncharted 2, its just not fair having a rig like mine and playing arma 2 with a high resolution, yet looking very edgy and blurry. I guess very big enviroments demand much more for proper geometry.

Next time someone will be comparing Pokemon with Flight Simulator

I have a feeling next you'll make a thread comparing metro 2033 to killzone 2 :P

Arma 2 obliterates Uncharted 2 in the technical department. visually though, I'd say Uncharted 2 has the edge.

It's pretty because of the art direction. The colors are too saturated for real-life realism.

The "saturation" is a trick to hide the flaws. That is why from a far, even Crysis looks inferior to Uncharted 2.

Uncharted 2 has a beatiful art style but realism and technical superiority? You just can't compare it with Arma 2.

In effect, it hides the flaws. Try "desaturate" in your imagination. It won't look as good as it looks.

I also do believe my 400+ hours of ArmA 2 will beat the value of my 5-6 hour romp through Uncharted 2 and the 5-10 hours I spent online.

Oh btw, that 400+ hours was pretty much all original content that I created or was created by the community.

Funny what kind of value are in these "elitest" games.

I'd like to corraborate this post. Uncharted 2 is fun, sure, but I've spent a total of ~150 hours playing the Arma 2 games, and I haven't even touched the online or co-op aspects that Wasdie plays. There is so much to that game that it's insane, and in a proper world it would have far more recognition than Uncharted 2, simply for delivering on its massive scale. Of course, those who haven't played it wouldn't know. ;)

If that makes me an elitist, well, then I'm a god damned elitist. :D

I'm going to have to try and get into it here shortly. It's a tactical shooter right? Or at least moreso than most shooters? If so it's the only one I have in the genre aside from my Ghost Recon games which I like.

I'm sure I'd like a more realistic version of those games.

Yeah trying to argue graphics against Teuf is as pointless as trying to wrestle a bear with your hands tied behind your back...

Calling it a 'tactical shooter' doesn't really begin to capture it... haha. It's basically an infantry simulator. Very slow-paced, very hard, very easy to die - impossible for many to adjust to, but very rewarding just the same. :)

Watch this video and you'll see what the game is about. At least the co-op aspect of it. I really suggest getting a TrackIR system for it, or at least something like FaceTracknoIR (you only need a webcam or a PSEye camera), as playing the game feels very restricted without it.

That looks great, but I'm not part of an online community, or anything.

I guess I'll just have to give the single player a go sometime, and go from there.

Single-player is also good, just be sure to check out custom maps and campaigns after you finish the official ones, then there's the editor to muck around with. Though I really recommended you get a few friends together and play some online co-op, it's great fun.

Yeah Arma 2 is obviously technically superior. For what it's worth, UC2 is "prettier" but then Mario Galaxy is "prettier" than both, so..

Uncharted 2 looks good because it's set in small areas and it's locked in 30 fps. Arma 2 is set in an actual battle zone, which is appropriate considering the fact that the game is a military simulation, rather than an attempt to mimic a mediocre action film. That said, not everyone would find a military simulator fun compared to Hollywoodized warfare games like Call of Duty and Killzone.
