I thought this game was hyped as having a Superior crashing system.
This topic is locked from further discussion.
Aesthetics have always been pretty weak. The more important factor is how they affect the car.
It doesn't matter what kind of hardware the game runs on, or how talented the developers are. If car manufacturers won't let them damage the cars beyond that, then they can't do it. Plain and simple
I think the general public is expecting too much in regards to damage. It still seems too early in eras to see "perfect" simulations of damage, and most people are neglecting what makes these games great, the actual racing and driving experience.
its true tough, the damage system was overhyped, and forza 3's damage system is very much like forza 2's really. I was driving 140 mp/h with the porsche, and crashed right into another car(driving reverse) that was atleast going 100mp/h, and the car has paint scratches and bumpers that fell off. Also, if the windows break from the outside, the interior car view does not show the windows.
in fact, the biggest complaint i have about the whole graphics is that in the car view there really is no window visible, its like you are always driving in a car without windows...
sigh...Go play Burnout for a damage simulator. The cosmetic damage has always been weak in Forza (obviously due to manufacture limitations), it's the internal damage that matters. This is a race sim folks :|
People should still be hyped. Internal damage has been vastly improved, from tire wear to aerodynamic penalties, its all there. and its better.People overhyped Forza 3's damage, it's really underwhelming once you see it.

***EDIT. forgot to mention misshifting and over reving which can damge your Engine and tranmisson respectivly. And It's even more brutal now with the addition of a clutch.
TC, you obviously havent played the demo, because your car damage can still effect performance. I was testing it today, and i screwed up my transmission, and the car would take forever to shift, sometimes it would even skip gears. The alignment was off, and the car would smoke something terrible lol. Also, its important to note that the demo was built on an old, pre-e3 build, and the game has since been changed due to complaints on the offical forums since the game's announcement. 1) the cockpit view has been changed, and is further back, and 2) damage has been tuned, and tweaked. Its still nothing too damaging to the overall model of the car because its simply not allowed. But the handling of the car, and the way it drives, and sounds will be affected.
Demo (pre E3) build
Gold (final) build

I disagree…Of the 100's of threads concerning this it has been extremely rare a fan would even comment of the "looks" of the damage. Just as it been said numerous times in this tread. The praise that FM has seen from it's fanbase has been because of the consequences or mechanical damage the model represents. GT fans simply refuse to acknowledge the true purpose of "damage".
GT did not have it and any discussion about it would constitute hype simply because GT was lacking the feature..It's that simple
F3 damage is worse than F2..OPINIONkillzowned24Fixed it for ya. Also I take it you have played the full game to pull out such allegations..

You're just a sad little fanboy who doesn't know what he's talking about. Heck you probably don't even own a 360. Just taking a quick look on your profile and looking and some of the games you've rated really shows how sad you are. You can have have the last post, I couldn't really care what you say now that I know you're just another fanboy. :)

The only reason Forza3 is being bashed on this is because Forza fans overhyped the damage as the second coming of Christ whilst bashing GT. Most people aren't dissapointed because we knew what to expect in the first place. This isn't going to be Burnout levels of destruction.II_Seraphim_II
pretty much this, the damage is acceptable for a sim

Dude, you havent played Forza2 or Forza3 so you obviosly are just trolling. I have put like 400 hours on Forza2 and 10 on Forza3 demo and im sure the game improved in every department ;)

oh really.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VcYaS1_KruA
I agree. I'm not going to total my car and throw the race just to see how realistic the damage is compared to real life ;). Granted, seeing a few dents and scratches is more realistic than having indestructible cars, it's not going to make me stop dead in the tracks just to see how accurate the scratch is when I hugged the corner a little too close or slammed my bumper into another driver's front door (yeah, I do that sometimes :P).I think the general public is expecting too much in regards to damage. It still seems too early in eras to see "perfect" simulations of damage, and most people are neglecting what makes these games great, the actual racing and driving experience.
PSdual_wielder
In the end, damage on all of the cars is better than damage on 10% of the cars.
Cyberfairy
Gt now will have damage on all cars ;)
damage control, to bad the last gen codies game were better and grid and dirt 2 are in a class of their own. damage is not damage if your car doesn't fly apart in a bad highspeed crash. want mechanical damage go play gt2, it not fun when you car look perfect but doesn't drive straight.Aesthetics have always been pretty weak. The more important factor is how they affect the car.

Couth_
so why can codies get it so much better than everyone else bonnets crumple bumpers fly off light smash wheels can fly off doors come off cars get shortened and twised windows smash fully or partly and they have had most of this since the ps2 days. It's just other devs haven't figured it out yet.I think the general public is expecting too much in regards to damage. so why can codies get away with smashing up most makes of cars? is it ok if they are racing cars but not road cars?sigh...Go play Burnout for a damage simulator. yeah so? nothing but 2002's toca race driver, so sad how long is is taking all the other devs to catch up to their last gen damage and now they have the current one which is miles better. forza might be better than gt but it has nothing on any codemasters game. not one thing you mentioned was not in race driver 1.Please Log In to post.
