yeah, im officially amped up to get this game now

"First up, let's check out that awesome AC-130. If you thought calling in a helicopter strike was intense in Modern Warfare, then you'll be blown away by the destructive power of the 55 tons of flying death that is the Lockheed AC-130, which was featured in the Death From Above mission in the first game. You'll need to be a pretty elite player to get the AC-130 (because it requires 11 kills in a row), but once you do, it will be enough to send all your enemies cowering in fear. But even this massive piece of air support is not a confirmed match winner--the AC-130 sticks around for only 30 seconds, you are vulnerable while using it (because your character will be controlling the plane while crouched using a remote laptop), and organized enemies can take it down using RPGs and other antiaircraft weaponry.

The AC-130 is one of the new killstreak bonuses in Modern Warfare 2, a system which has been expanded with the addition of new rewards as well as the ability to choose the order in which you unlock them. While you'll still get the UAV bonus at three kills, a missile strike at five, and chopper support at seven, you'll also get care packages, counter-UAV, sentry guns, and, of course, the AC-130. The Care Package is an interesting addition: you'll gain this after a four kill streak, and when used, it drops a supply crate onto your chosen point in the map. What's inside the Care Package, however, is random. It could be as simple as ammo, or it could be a killstreak reward, allowing you to access the higher bonuses without having to do the tough work of killing your opponents. It's a potential match winner and will allow even novice players the opportunity to use the longer killstreak bonuses (at least if they get lucky with a package). Care Package users need to be careful, though, as enemies can also open the package and steal whatever goodies lie within.

Balancing out the improved killstreaks are new deathstreaks, which are rewards that are conferred onto players if they're killed multiple times in a row. The deathstreaks we saw (which kicked in at three deaths in a row) were copycat and painkiller. Copycat allows you to "steal" your killer's ****and loadout (even if you haven't unlocked those weapons), while painkiller gives you a temporary health boost when you first respawn. These bonuses obviously aren't as powerful as killstreaks, but they may be just enough for players who are getting constantly squashed to score a morale-boosting victory now and again.

You can customize which killstreaks and deathstreaks you bring into battle, which is just one part of Modern Warfare 2's improved ****creation system. Both primary and secondary weapons can be fitted with attachments and camo, with Infinity Ward reps telling us the list of adds-on has increased significantly (silenced shotgun, anyone?). Players also have a new equipment slot that they can customize. Mapped to the right bumper, this equipment slot allows you to swap out frag grenades and instead choose from a list which includes throwing knives (a one-hit kill), a blast shield, semtex (explosives which stick to an enemy when thrown), tactical insertion (where you can choose your next spawn point), and two others which were locked in the multiplayer build we played."

unlike treyarch whosthe copy and paste champions, IW brings newideas to the table. in this case were not simply talking about maps but also perks, weapons, multi match opitons....the works. honestly how can this possibly be related to MW1 except by name? (aside from the engine which has also been improved)

EDIT: i dont know whats up with GS. you cant even say the harmless of words in some cases

I actually had more fun with World at War than Modern Warfare because it had a better, longer campaign. Co-op too. Still won't be buying Modern Warfare 2 though. I'm sure it'll be good for those into that sort of thing, but most big-name FPS are just starting to look/feel the same.

The only appealing thing in MW2 is the sheer variety in the MP. Other than that it looks to be another cut/paste job. Wait wait.. I just saw the deathstreak thing.. that's actually a pretty smart thing to do.. good way to reward those who like to charge.

Yup, I'm pumped for this game. They are doing different things, adding co-op, and hopefully have a good story mode. I see no reason why I wouldnt put down money for this game, despite it being similar to #4. Even so, the gameplay is awesome-sauce and I cant get enough of it.

If crap like Madden, NHL, and a whole load of other sports/annual games can get away with it, I see no reason to pick on Infinity Ward's MW2.

I had my doubts, but I'm sad that I did-- this game will be awesome.

I'm not liking the idea of deathstreaks. If a player keeps dying, why should they get rewarded? I'm also hating the fact that u can get a mystery box at 4 kill streaks that can automatically give you a 10 kill streak reward. What kind of bs is that? They better keep this game balanced and fair.

The thing is the game isn't balanced, and death streaks are for people who don't think camping is fun. It seriously is what made me completely stop playing cod 4, the sheet amount of camping.

Looks good, I just hope they don't "noobify" the game too much. COD4 is already bit too noob friendly. I saw the videos on GT and the guns seem to have even less recoil, and the shotgun looked way overpowered(perhaps he was using a extra damage perk?(I sure hope so.)). In other words I don't want to get good at the game, just to get owned by some noob using a cheap gun/perk combo. But, at the very least it should be a fun single-player experience, if only for a few hours...

Treyarch copy and pasted cod WaW coz of activision. Looking at the success of cod4 would you really think activison would let treyarch do something else? Treyarch did good with cod3, it had 24 player mp on consoles + no regenerative health + vehicles like tanks, jeeps and motorbikes. they did their best with cod3 but no one appreciated coz everyone wanted cod2 clone....well thats what IW did, made cod2 with new paint, everybody loved it then treyarch made cod waw coz they knew it will be success and activison likely forced them to. i dont understand the treyarch hating

I hope people will finally stop bashing the game soon, the multiplayer looks vastly improved, and there's so much variety I'm gonna be playing this for so long it looks amazing. The singleplayer we've seen nothing of, but judging by the early trailers it looks even more explosive than the first game, which means that too, whilst short, will be fantastic, I wish people would'nt ignore a games quality just because the singleplayer is short. And the spec ops mode looks like it'll be a great diversion, especially considering the short intense blast of awesome that mile high club was.

Not anymore, it appears. Thankfully I will always have Arma 2 to play. That game is so realistic its actually comforting to me, knowing no one is using bizarre perks and such...

it doesnt give you 6 extra kills, it only gives you the perk that you get when you get 10 killstreak. you still gotta fight for every kill, theres no getting around that from what im understanding.

Because thats is what gamers who suck at these type of games want. they want to be rewarded for failure instead of learning. The only way to truly be successful in COD from COD4 on is to camp. I hate camping.

maybe you fail to see the irony. IW had to copy MW to get its 5 minutes of fame. (of course thats well know now) THATS what i mean by copy and paste....every sequel is guilty of copy and past in some way but for one company to steal anothers formula even if its on the same franchise shows the sheer lack of creativity and is deserving of whatever ridicule comes their way..

W@W was great, i liked it a lot. im not hating on the game, just the company. also how do we know activision forced them to emulate? even though its activision and we can pretty much assume that would be true, id hafta think that Treyarch did it just because they saw an opportunity to capitalize off anothers success

And God of war and other SEQUELS dont come out yearly with Lil to no improvement like Call of rehash does. ok where to begin. i know how many COD games there are, im fully aware of that and no it hasnt gone past 10 yet (technicly its only currently on 7 with MW2 being 8) but every game has its own story, its not like its a spin-off of the previous game. i agree the call of duty name is being milked but.... hell nevermind. already i see youre one of those people who will forever fail to see the point behind someone elses statement when you firmly believe youre correct. i dont even know how i got onto the topic of being milked to begin with now...

If you don't want to be milked by the Call of Duty franchise then keep away from the garbage Treyarch release. That's what I did and after playing COD4 on and off since 2007 I can't wait to get my hands on MW2 :D

Throwing knives one hit kill? Sounds OP if you look at the gameplay clip. I mean, you can't even see it or avoid it if you stand still for a second.

Rewards for dying.

Increased experience gain for kills with minimal effort.

XP for joining a match.

Casualized Mechanics, Woot, mystery boxes in the middle of a battle.

Yeah, I'm going to have to pass on this noob fest . Here's hoping for a decent FPS experience on consoles with OF

Treyarch's World at War was more of a Call of Duty game that IW's CoD4 could ever be.

unlike treyarch whosthe copy and paste champions, IW brings newideas to the table.

slvrraven9

Co-op, nazi zombies.

also, Treyarch is PAID, as in, HIRED by activision to do exaclty what they do, calling them copy and paste champions is moronic, especially since prior to this what did IW really do new? made a modern game? whoopty do.

If you don't want to be milked by the Call of Duty franchise then keep away from the garbage Treyarch release. That's what I did and after playing COD4 on and off since 2007 I can't wait to get my hands on MW2 :D

PS_John

If you think treyarch games are garbage then your odnt like CoD games.

I have mixed reactions about more powerful kill streaks. :?

When you've already called missiles strikes and helis, the last thing you need is a AC-130. It makes the game unbalanced... winners win more, losers lose more. Where's the fun in that?

i hate that people hate on this game just cause it popular or they let their hate for activison spill over to IW. IW always makes solid titles and has never made a rehash or a copy and paste job like someone said above. they continually try to out do themeshelves and work hard to give gamers the type of game they want

IW doesn't do anything new, Treyarch just does less new. I doubt there is a single thing in Call of Duty thats entirely original.

call me up when MW2 has 4 player splitscreen/online co op and a original Nazi Zombies esque mode. Until then IW fanboys should keep their mouths closed.

Your perks level up too.

For example the more you reload with sleigh of hand the faster the reloading takes.

I'm pumped for MW2!!

codwar brought the best thing the series has ever seen: coop and now iw has dumped it. sorry but iw is no better than treyarch. a lot of mw2 is a copy and paste not that that is a bad thing.

I actually had more fun with World at War than Modern Warfare because it had a better, longer campaign. Co-op too. Still won't be buying Modern Warfare 2 though. I'm sure it'll be good for those into that sort of thing, but most big-name FPS are just starting to look/feel the same.

Silent-Hal

Treyarch pretty much just taking all of IW's innovative ideas from their last game and copy it into a WWII COD with 1-2 added features/weapons... IW does the innovating, Treyarch does the copying and crap talking!

And who cares if big name FPS's are "similar". They are competitive online, and thats whats keeping me into gaming! F the single player! :P

Bashing Treyarch for copy/pasting and at the same time praising IW is stupid. Modern Warfare 2 is just as much a copy/paste job as WaW, maybe more so. Hell, COD4 was basically just a reskinned clone of COD2 in a modern setting...

great post, i feel bad for treyarch. so many nobodies ragging on them for just doing their job, and doing it pretty well imo. i dont see what is so great about infinity ward. they have been reskinning the same game forever now, just adding more and more crazy scripted events and garbage, 'ding' based multiplayer. death streaks? one of the worst ideas ive ever heard.

WaW was a lot better than CoD4, it had a lot more replay value like zombie modes , co-op , longer campaign.
