As much as I dislike Sony, I'm pretty sure the PS3 will outsell the 360

Lets examine the 3 major territories:

NA - In the most recent NDP, the PS3 sold a mere 50 k less than the 360 even considering the fact it has no games, and it costs 600 $,... whats happens when it does have games, and doesnt cost 600$? Seems like the PS3 will score a lot of sales on brand popularity alone

Japan - It's a given that Sony will Dominate MS in this region

Europe - Europe has a history of giving Sony strong support, and if pre-orders are any indication, the PS3 will have its largest success in this region.

So there you have it, as much as I think the 360 is superior, breaking down the different regions I believe the PS3 will outsell the 360 this gen, though not by nearly as large a margin as last gen...

I would agree. If the ps3 can keep pace with the 360 from here on out in NA , then the 360 (as good as it is) will be caught and surpassed.

If Sony gets a better game library then it can outsell both the 360 and Wii. If it doesn't, then it won't. Period. Using sales from 3 months in to a lifecycle to predict a consoles success is pretty silly, if you ask me.

I agree even though the 360 is a sweet system to have Sony has name recognition which that alone sells alot but there 1st party gaming studios is unmatched I think in my opinion Microsoft will have a tough time competing once Sony starts unleashing all there First party games.......

You do realize that the PS3 has sold more than the 360 in its first few months than the 360 did its launch. There is only a 7 million difference between the two and it has only been out for 3 1/2 months.

There's a difference between sitting in stores waiting to be sold to consumers and being bought by consumers. Besides, Sony chose to launch late, it's no one's fault but their own. Excuses are not valid at this point.

Then it will no longer be benefiting from the launch sales rush and the 360 will have taken a huge chunk of it's brand recognition away from having been #1 for at least 2 years. Oh, and the 360 will have had a price cut long before then.

To be fair, the PS3 is still living off of its launch hype, and Halo 3 has not been released yet. It is possible that the 360 can overtake the PS3 in NA, but in Japan that will never happen, and it's very unlikely to happen in Europe. So it seems even if the 360 beats the PS3 by a narrow margin in NA, it will fall behind the worldwide tally... unless of course, it pulls off a major coup (and upset)  in Europe. I'm not saying it's impossible for the 360 to best the PS3, just seems quite unlikely.

About NA.  you make it sound as though things will only get better for sony, and the 360 is not getting a price drop or getting any more games.  Do you know what happens once the PS3 has games and does not cost $600?  The 360 will have a price drop and will have MORE games.  You make it sound as if nintendo and MS will play nice and sit around and wait for Sony to catch-up.

In Japan, it doesn't matter, because the Wii is totally annihilating both ms and sony's next gen efforts, while the DSLITE is destroying the PSP.  Japan is no longer Sony-land.  It's all about Nintendo.

Europe.  Europe we have no idea, but we should take note that not many people in europe are gonna dish out half-a-mortage payment for a videogame system.  Also take in to your head that even though Europe does consists of lot of countrys, it's considered the smallest market compared to NA and Japan.  Do you really think that the SMALLEST sales region will magically put Sony on top.  I doubt that.

Lmfao 360 being number #1 for 2 years well it had no competetion and PS2 still outselling it so your numbers are wrong 360 sells an average of 4 thou world wide a week PS3 23 thou (not even in europe) PS2 19 Wii 75 Ds Lite 200 thou (Gawd nintendo hit the jackpot)

There is no reason to suspect that Europe is going to be so much more loyal to the PS3 than Japan and North America were, especially with Sony screwing them over the hardest. The 360 has already outsold the PS3 in NA, and is making progress in Japan. Of course, with the PS3's sales being in the toilet in Japan, it doesn't matter anyway; the 360 can easily make up the sales difference in other territories.

OK, MS will lose 2 of the 3 major territories and possibly all 3 of them.  What in the world makes your think that they will be SONY territories.  Once again, your forgetting Nintendo.

Beating 360 sales is not a huge accomplishment in Japan.

The PS3 is the heavy favorite in Europe?  really?  i didn't know you had a cystal ball.  Your bold claim is yet to be proven.  hint hint..  PS3 hasn't release in europe yet.  BTW did you see that article that says the PS3 will not play as many BC games as the NA/JPN systems.  After the delays and now this BC issues, and of course the over-inflated price in europe, i really don't see the PS3 having as much success as the PS2.  Remember the PS2 was the favored system NOT because of brand loyalty or whatever.  It won because it was cheap and had a huge catalogue of games.

and yes i 100% agree.  All your posts are nothing more than speculation.

no it's not....

It's funny how you speak of Europe........I've learn here at system wars that you guys have absolutely NO idea of what Europe thinks about the three consoles......

The 360 has a major advantage in Europe and it will continue to have it.....people are not interested in the PS3 or the wii......People want a gaming console...not a media center or a kiddy machine (yes the wii is considered childish).....ofcourse if you ask a European to choose a console for free they will choose the ps3 because it's simply better and with blue ray.....but European teenagers (the majority of the gaming community here) only want a thing that can replace their old DVDs and play great games at the same time but doesnt cost a fortune....

with that being said.......the VAST majority of European gamers save their money for High end PCs instead of consoles....
