The Wii is going to win the "sales war." The PS3 is going to pass the 360 WW for 2nd place this Gen. The 360 will finish dead last. However, unlike in previous generations, 360 owners will fail to be deeply impacted by this, since the games will continue to flow in. In fact, I could see the 360 finishing this gen with the best library despite losing in sales, for the first time in history.

lol

Xbox 360, despite of its errors in the past, is still selling and offers good games for the lemmings to enjoy and bash/counter-bash their arch fan nemesis, which is the the cows

While the PS3 is as of now, a glossy chunk of brick that can give but a few good games (only their MGS4 gave them a big boost of morale). And it is also currently selling in the market....as the cheapest blu-ray player

I really don't care who wins between 360 and PS3, we all know that the Wii has won this generation, only a true disaster can stop the Wii sales, I really don't care who wins second place, we all know that second place is the first loser. I totally love my 360 and I don't care if it ends in second or third place, the only thing that I care is that the 360 keeps getting better and better games, and as far as I know that is happening this and the following year, so I have absolutely no worries, I am not a fanboy, I am a gamer and as long as I get better games everyday I am totally happy!

what has ps3 left this year ??

LPB?

R2?

It might amaze you to know that some people actually perfeir games like LBP ,R2 over gears of war its all down to the player one could easy say

Gears 2

Fable 2

about the 360s line up so cut the fanboy crap that i have seen you spouting in nearly every thread just remember opinions differ its not the end of the world

God, you are both Fanboys. Which is proven by the fact that you both scoffed at the two systems respective AAA/AAAE's.

Also, I find it quite funny that the six-month headstart that 360 had is exaggerated madly.

'360 Had a year's headstart'

'360 Had a year and a half's headstart'

Sigh. Six months. Not that long. Sony should have been able to recoup from that with ease.

First of all the Dreamcast was the first system to come out last gen and got stomped by the PS2's hype machine. Secondly, don't even begin to compare the unreliability of the PS2 to the 360. Sure the PS2's DRE's were a fairly common problem on the PS2's but nowhere even close to the scale at which the 360's RROD affects people. I mean listen to any gaming podcast or community, it is not uncommon for an entire group of people to have had to send their 360 in, usually multiple times. Hell, the 360 was the first system I have ever had to send in for a warranty repair and btw Microsoft's customer service is atrocious.

Anyways, no the 360 has not won. The Wii is slaughtering it in sales, and even if you consider the Wii to be in a different market the PS3 is now outselling the 360 in every region. The 360 still has great software sales and still have favorable mindshare with much of the enthusiast press and hardcore gamers in general, but the same could have been said of the Dreamcast in it's heyday. If things continue the way they are going, when the PS3 reaches an installed base large enough to nullify the 360's excellent attach rate, the general perception of who is winning this console race is going to take a dramatic turn towards the PS3.

Zerostatic0

So people pull the 'Wii is slaughtering 360 in sales' card on 360 (From which I get a damage control feeling, and just making up for the fact that 360 is still ahead in sales than PS3.) yet everyone has seemingly forgotten deliberately that PS3 is behind both. Both.

I firmly believe that we have hit saturation point in attach rates at the present moment. Sony is going to have to work extremely hard in order to work its way up to the point that 360 has hit.

What console did i scoff at ?? god i hate when people don't read a post though it really shows the education level of some members in system wars

If you had read it you would clearly see that he is making fun of games like LBP and R2 (just because he doesn't like them or what not)I just stated that someone could also say the same about gears2 or fable 2 and that everyones opinion is different and then you come in and start calling me a fanboy without even reading my post correctly

The 360 came out in November of 2005 didnt it? And the PS3 came out in November 2006... a whole year.

yea it did nov ment to say. but he said 6 mouths head start and we exaggerated the year head start. just trying to prove him wrong

Ya but at the time the 360 games came out and the system itself, were games such as Assassins Creed, Metal Gear Solid not being developed on? Thats why I don't understand why people say this head start crap. Didn't the devs have the developement kits already for the PS3 before the system came out? Maybe sales could show somewhat of a headstart, but to make it an excuse such as why some of the overhyped games of the PS3 and some of the ports or muliplats were underwhelming is rediculous.

Lets look at history:

PS2 is released first in the new generation, as a result, it is an all-around inferior console to its rivals when it comes to hardware and capabilities.

However, because it was first, developers supported it, and it became the most popular system (And consequently the best buy since all the games are on it.)

This generation, the 360 has been released, and it lacks blu-ray, a large hardrive, and processing power compared to the PS3. And yet we're seeing the same marketing pattern as last generation.

The original PS2 was a piece of junk when it came to reliability. Disc Read errors and the like plagued its users.

The 360 has the RROD, but like the PS2, people don't seem to care.

The original X-Box, in spite of being a more powerful system, often looked worse than a lot of the PS2 games.

The 360 looks better than the PS3 a lot of the time, albeit this is regarding multiplats rather than exclusives, which is a swap from the PS2/X-Box relationship last gen

Although the PS3 is a better system, lack of 3rd party support drags it down, just like the X-Box was dragged down last generation.

I hate the idea, but if history repeats itself, things are looking good for 360 owners.

Actually, it was the Dreamcast that came out first, and then the PS2. This gen, it was the 360 that was released first, then the PS3, and then the Wii. Take that for what it's worth.

There is a major hole in your theory

The xbox never stood a chance against the ps2 sales Wise it demolished it on the other hand you have the ps3 vs 360 where the only reason the 360 is winning is due to the years head start and the ps3 has been out selling the 360 world wide since mid 2007 and is set to pass it in mid 2009

Not just the 1 year head start but also the fact that the PS2 cemented the Sony brand in the gaming market. That is MS' strategy this gen.

Are you on crack?

PS2 was just as PS3 released after the competition has started with Nintendo and Xbox. It was considered problematic to develop for and game companies cried their eye balls ever since it day-viewed.

It also had a crum precentage of faults and maulfunctions - 2% to be precise just like PS3 has today.

well , since you forgot wii let me tell you somthing , 360 isnt winning, just yet, microsofts got a big chore the nintendo wii what made nes successful and ps2 successful is the same exact reason wii is gonna be succesful , its revolutionary , its new controller you take that add free online wifi out of the box a virtual console that lets you dl vast selection of nes snes n64 genesis tg16 sms games and wii ware all new games from the ground up in one console, add backwards compatibilities with gamecube games , then you add a whole bunch of good wii games to that mixture,

you got your self one heck of a gaming machine,

all youll need is a ps3, and youll have almost anything 360 has and more, so no microsoft is not out of the woods no ones gonna top wii , thats the plain truth, sony had 2 good runs at the top now its nintendos turn , they may have 2 more runs 3 if good, at the top , loads of gamers are starting to realise doign the same thing over again with better processers isnt gonna cut it no more, hence why nintendos back at the top ,

mariokart64fan

Okay I have a question about downloading vast amounts of games through Nintendo virtual console. I don't own a wii but I know it lacks a hard drive so how do you download all the games?

As for the second part I would argue that gamers are going back to Nintendo. I admit that Nintendo is winning the war of the gaming machine but it's not because hard core gamers everywhere are abandoning their 360's/PS3's. If anything the Wii is normally a secondary console for the hardcore gamer. The reason Nintendo is back on top is because hordes of housewives, children and grandmothers are getting into casual gaming and buying Wii's.

In essence the Wii can't really be put in league with the 360 and PS3 as there is really no comparison. So far there are only a handful of hardcore gaming titles on the system and none of the features can compete with what the other systems have to offer.

Nintendo obviously doesn't care about this they're just glad to be making money, as can be seen by there showings at E3 this year.

Nintendo made smart business moves by capitalizing on Sony's PS2, and mega corp. MS jumping into the console mkt. The PS2 put gaming into the mainstream, and MS being an American company competing with a Japanese dominated industry, brought press. Sony and MS stuck to the more mature gaming crowd while Nintendo attacked the kiddie/entrance crowd, imo.

[QUOTE="angelkimne"]But 360 isn't the same in hardware sale, that's the Wii.mstc_Q

The Wii isn't a traditional gaming platform, nor will it ever be.

It's something else entirally, so I tend to ignore it in comparisons like this.

It most definately can't replace other systems if you like Traditional gaming.

So in the consol wars the 360 wins by default because?

1.This generation is far from over and may be the longest active generation from the looks of it.

2.Wether you like it or not the Wii is part of the system wars, you can't just ignore it because it's not part of your plan or idea of a system.

3. With deminishing sales and being outsold month after month by both the PS3 and Wii, your hypothesis has a few flaws.

4. Just because the PS2 won last generation by a HUGE margin, doesnt mean the 360 can or will ever replicate the sucess of the system that still continues to sell tons of units.

5. You are trying to compare apples and oranges...

Wins by default because it's better at everything and first to the table with everything. Ths wii, is a winner of last generational proportions, but not current gen.

Well it is pretty obvious. It has the largest variety of games currently available and is getting far more than both the Wii and PS3 in the future. It's also getting all the best versions of the console multiplats.

Difference is, the PS3 has all the First party support the PS2 had while the 360 has the same First party support as the Xbox
