I really don't think Kojima and members of Kojima Productions used the full power of the PS3. In recent interviews he claims while developing MGS4 ( which will be a great title btw) they used the PS3 to its full specs. The reason I doubt Kojima because there's a few titles that are out, and in development. The devs of those games say their not even close to using the full specs of the PS3. I'm speaking of Square-Enix on FFXIII,Vs XIII, Polyphony digital on GT5 and a few other devs.

DO you think MGS 4 was developed using the full specs of the PS3? (let's discuss)

(BTW lets clarify this now I'm in no way shape or form a cow or any type of fanboy. I don't even own a PS3 yet MGS4 is reason I'll own a PS3)

Just because they used the full power of a console doesn't mean their isn't going to be better games in the future. Its up to the developer to wisely use their resources they have. Kojima's team were misguided by Sony and during the planing stages they overstepped what the PS3 could do and now the game is too far along to go back and rework things. The most they can hope to do is optimise their game the best they can at the stage they are at.

For his idea it did...
Point A : No fully destructable Enviroments
Point B: Weather system does not have a strong effect on the enviroment
Point C: The level of graphics aren't where he wanted to them to be, although they matched the original trailer he wanted to greatly surpass that level.
Point D: no evolving enviroments, Kojima had an idea where you could plant a seed, and later return to that part of the game and see that it had developed.

They didn't use the full power of the PS3?

What the **** do you people know? Where's your upcoming title for the Playstation 3? Where's your development team?

I doubt he would lie. And I doubt even more than the cell is the 3D gaming powerhouse Sony's marketing department and it's brainwashed adherents claim it is.

Why does Kojima insist on criticizing his game before release? I mean honestly, he says they maxed out the game, but he was dissapointed in the graphics. I mean if I was a dumb blind fanboy that believed everything the man said, I would conclude that the PS3 has graphics max only capable of MGS4. I'm sorry, even the new high rez shots from IGN, FINAL GAME, are not really impressive to todays standards for next gen games. Kojima's team has a bad tendency to use washed out environments, but, very detailed characters wheras most other devs build high resolution environs and characters.

I'm pretty positive Kojima used the PS3 to the full extent that is known as of today, sure better ways may be found and other ways to work around bottle necks will appear but people are just twisting his words around...leave the guy alone.

Im a firm believer in thinking a Console is never tapped out so Early in its Life cycle. Code can always be better and redone in different ways and Different techniques can be used to get better performance.

Yes, because I'm sure that he or any other dev cares what scores the game gets.

If you think that scores actually matter to anyone in the industry then you're mistaken about everything. It's nice for the fans to argue about but all the makers care about is that people are buying it and they're enjoying it.

As long as that happens it can score all 1's and they wont bat an eyelash.

... Thats the consumers fault for not buying the game. Yes they care more about sales than scores but they sure as hell do care about scores quite a bit since it gauges how much hype their game is gonna get. If they didnt care their wouldnt be those few developers trying to bribe the press for good scores.

Well MGS 4 does look very good. But he also mentioned they could put MGS4 on the XBOX 360 if they wanted to, does this mean both systems are fairly equal?

MGO trailers looks aweful MASSIVE JAGGIES on the shaddows. But tbh the game is basically perfect from what we've seen, if you are worried about processing power affecting gameplay then why on earth do you have a PS3?

This is hilarious. Suddenly all the fanboys know the full extent of the PS3 power better than someone creating one of the lead games for it.

Maybe to his knowledge they did use all of it's power, but programming techniques are always improving, allowing you to truly maximize performance. His techniques are truly unique though, while they may not be localized in mind blowing textures everywhere, nothing is replicated in his game's world.

All of this is stemming off of the fact that the PS3 hardware was downgraded from what he was building the game around, he really wanted a wider gap between MGS3 and MGS4, just like he did with the original and MGS2, he can't do that with the current hardware, since the gap between PS2 and PS3 is not like PS1 and PS2. His interview doesn't faze me at all, I know the game will live up to my expectations.

I still think he's one of the best director's around and I'm not grinding him. I just doubt that MGS 4 was developed under the PS3 full specs. Theres other titles on the PS3 out now and coming out within a year that look better than MGS4 in some cases and those game don't use the PS3 full spec. BTW I don't own a PS3 and I really don't think he was dissing the PS3 also.

You know he probably meant that if he designed the game the way he had envisioned that the PS3 technical limitations would make the game unplayable. Or that he used the full potiential of the system with his current game. Either way I COULD CARE LESS! MGS FTW!!!

In the Edge UK article where Kojma says all this stuff, its also talked about how fed up he and his team are with MGS4 to Xbox 360 rumors.

You guys have to think that using a system to its full spec doesn't mean it needs to have the best graphics. You have to consider everything that goes on in the game and if the system is capable of running it any better than what it already is.

why is everybody such "graphic ho's" A good game is a good game. I have loved all his games from the first one I played on my Nintendo. I don't think his interview will change my mind on what kind of fun I will have. Only playing the game will allow me to know how much fun it is.

I agree with this guy 100% A.I. takes a nice chunk of processing power alone.
