I ask b/c there seems to be this general idea that A) it is in fact dying, and B) console players more or less hate PC gaming. I know for the most part a lot of those who do think it should just go away probably will not post, but I want to know. It doesn't seem like it's dying, just that there are less PC to console ports and more games that are made for both platforms in mind.

I've been here for a couple of months and it really seems that theres a lot of animosity towards PC gaming when there shouldn't be.

I don't care what others game on, what is exclusive, or not. It just isn't that important. I game on 360 and PS3, both are BC so I can play last gen games I like or missed. I have a basic PC, that is shared and I play Hitman 47, and Fallout 1, 2 as well as Deus Ex on it. But it isn't mine alone so, it is easier using the consoles, and I just plain like them more. Preference doesn't have to be logical or defended, just respected. I hope and believe PC gaming will last for those that love it.

No I don't want pc gaming dead, just wish the generalization that those who play on colsoles do so because they can't figure out how to on a pc. The smug attitudes are really annoying.

I don't want it dead. Millions of people enjoy gaming on a PC. It doesn't affect me negatively. Why take it away from them?

No way, i enjoy both console and PC gaming and i want to keep them both, maybe i'm just selfish but i want them both to stay.

And do you really want all PC gamers to come to consoles and moan that PC gaming died? I hardly think so, which is also why i don't like elitists always pushing people to buy a gaming PC instead of a console, leave the kids on their console i say, let the mature players have a haven where there aren't as many screamers or racist hate when you headshot someone.

You seem to have it backwards TC. Most PC players want console gaming to die so they can go back to having every game released on PC and devs closing down from piracy

I don't really care about PC gaming. I don't care what happens to it really, but I think it would be stupid to wish it to end. And I don't think PC gaming is dying, I just think it's changed alot. Alot of the focus is on free to play games and micro transactions.

PC made up 51 percent of the gaming market last year, thats all i have to say, consoles lost 29 percent of sales last year compared to the year before. PC when up across the board.

If console players think it should be dead, ill bookmark this thread, and when development costs get too high for consoles and dev's resort to small indie games i shall repost and act superior!

On a serious note, if pc gaming died, so would mmo's, rts, and no new developers would really come about because alot of dev's start of with indie games or mods.

If gaming lost 50 percent of their market share, alot of people would be hurt and the gaming idustury would colapse.

There would be less devs, less new developers and so much talent that would never be found becuase of the lack of pc. Large studios would cut back even more.

You have a ton of great little studios that just couldn't make console games. Do to the price. The profit margin for games is higher on pc vs consoles.

It's not like it's easy going to consoles, some simply don't have the money or resources. If PC gaming dies so would those developers. The PC platform is a launch pad, without it many developers would simply die out, developers that could become the next Epic or Bungie. And there's more than a handful, there are more PC exclusive developers than there are individual console exclusive developers. PC has by far the largest developers support than any system.

How does that affect a company like Nintendo, a company/developer/publisher that largely creates their own software? You act like if PC gaming dies than all the developer would just cease to exist, they would go up in a puff of smoke. Why would Epic Games go away if PC gaming dies? Naughty Dog? Microsoft Games? SCEA? Guerrilla Games? Bungie? Nintendo? Konami? EA Sports? EA? Would Activision stop producing games all of a sudden even though consoles still exist?

Edit: And your "a ton" doesn't represent the major players in the video game world.

You may still have some companies but gaming will take a huge hit if pc gaming dies. Activision has 30 percent of rev in wow. Companies will even be less willing take any chance, how many little games have come out on pc first than came to consoles, alot.

i have no reason for wanting the PC gaming dead... it really never affected my experience as a console gamer. >.> in fact, i play some RTSs on my PC every now and then, the reason i prefer consoles its because iv had terrible experiences trying to run games on PCs... lol but it was mainly because of my lack of knowledge about hardware and stuff.

You act like the video game industry has never endured a humongous and detrimental strike to its infrastructure (not that PC gaming ceasing to exist would be that). Just look at what happened in, when was it, the late 1980s early 1990s? When video games nearly died as an entertainment media form.

I'm not saying its not possible but the gaming market would loose 50 percent of sales, the number of new ips would drop, the number of new games would drop. Look at the online fps market, would have consoles tried so hard, probley not.

I game on both and I don't want either to die. I get good ports of console games and I always buy the pc version. I really don't want pc to die as the tech has been driving devs to make games better and the hardware drives the console market. I also like steam it is the greatest gaming service bar none.
