Because I played it at my friends house for about 15 minutes, And I lost because I killed to many people :evil:USSJAndrew
There are plenty of guards and baddies to kill, Why ya wanna run around killing the civilians? I agree, this was a great game. Beat it yesterday (didn't find all the templars, and missed about half the flags, but finished every other memory strand).
Beat it, AWESOME, Ending was kinda lame, can't wait for AC2, Will Buy Again! It might be a little repetative, but I liked how you get to save citizens and fight, and the fighting counters never got boring for me, no matter how many times I see myself brake his elbow and slashing him :p
Anyways, love it. But once I finished it I see no need to go back, only for achievements, and then again, I just got Mass Effect and CoD4 so those are taking up my time :) But I would definetly go back and try to get 100% memory glitches.
Yeah the A.I. might be prett dumb (just walk around 'praying' over some guy you killed, and other guards would've never even thought it was you), there should've been more speech for guards and pedestrians (they always say the same things) and the missions really are repetetive.
But seriously, I'm enjoying this game so much. I can understand that people might be complaining about some of the game's not-so-great aspects, but the game in general is just plain fun. 8.5 from me as well.
So ibought it played it for three hours and i was saving citizens , interrogating people, stealing wallets , riding my horsey, and oh assasinating well only one assasination in my three hour playtime. but this game is awesome and the combat is also awesome. ubisoft is the best.deavincalhoun
Just got the game, and i must say this one has by miles the most spectacular graphics i have ever seen, it might not have Crysis detail, but since the art is vastly better to me, and the towns so HUGE, is far better for my tastes, and definatgly miles better looking than any other game i have set eyes on until today, including Mass Effect and Drake
A major reason is compared to Mass Effect and Uncharted, AC comes up short, at least IMO. The game is repetitive, some of the challenges are pointless (why did they even bother putting in the eavesdropping minigame?), its short (about 9-12 hours) and the ending is weak, especially considering how well the game was shaping up at the beginning. Thats not to say AC is a bad game (I'd personally rate it an 8.0) but there are games that are much more deserving of AAA.PBSnipes
Comparing to Mass Effect is a joke in gameplay IMO, but Drake is nothing special in its shooting really
you will see when you get to the end, the game is awesome for the first 5 hours and then the ending just ruins it
Other than the story it is the worst game I have played all year. My review will be going up giving it a 3 out of 10.VelricFunny you say that and your gamercard doesn't even have any achievements from the game, nor does it say that you even ahd the disk in the drive.

GTA? Saints Row? Crackdown? Short answer No, No and No They base the reviews off what the genre has to offer, AsC has set the standard for AI in the sandbox genre
You can use 3 buttons for combat... Plus all the types of counters, combos, defense breaks, dodging, parrying At least they didn't sink to other games buy putting in button pressing sequences (ala Resident Evil/God of War) Really your in the crusader times... how many more different kinds of moves are there that you cant do already? For everyone complaining about combat of Sandbox games... look at GTA and Crackdown oh what? Thats one button as well? Oh wait.. you can only shoot a gun/swing a melee weapon? Is there any depth to the system? For you guys complaining about the AI of the game, yea it isn't perfect and since it isn't XBL enabled your not gonna get a patch, but at this moment it is the best AI for the Sandbox genre. For those of you that have just played the beginning and are judging the AI pre the first 5 assassinations please finish the game... the guards get much more suspicious/harder when the game goes on. If you don't counter you don't stand a chance when your fighting 10 enemies. AsC has done a lot for the Sandbox Genre and if GTA4 doesnt pass the landmarks posted by it I don't see it getting a higher score than AsC.mastariflaI agree. later on the game, everysingle oneofthe15-20 guards that surround you have a chance to kill you. I kinda wish you can button mash ,but i guess that's keeping you from being too over-powered.
Than you for agreeing, I have posted this twice and people just seem to ignore it... They judge the AI off the first couple of assasinations and the story even says that the guards have "become more aware that your in town." When I was in Acre mid district saving citizens I fended myself off about 7 of them and as soon as I talked to the lady a guard was already there and engaged me in battle. If that would have happened 3 assassinations earlier it would have taken them twice as long.I agree. later on the game, everysingle oneofthe15-20 guards that surround you have a chance to kill you. I dont mind the combat system, its cool, but if you actually learn the combat system and use the counters and combos, which is not hard imo, then you are like superman. You can just kill your way through the whole game no problem. I dont mind that much, but you dont really feel like an assasin, more like a one man killing machine.[QUOTE="mastarifla"]You can use 3 buttons for combat... For example, it is like playing counter strike months on end training to hit only in the head, eventually it will seem easy and only certain people will become a challenge. In GTA I had the same feelings that you have...
Just finished it today looking forward to AC2, combat was meh after awhile, but as someone said counters never get old. good story presentation as well. Also i'd like to know where your getting these buggy copies of AC from?hellsingfan666Everyone who has said it, in the thread, apparently has the PS3 version :/

Also, towards the end, simply attacking repeatedly gets you killed. The guards block well, and by the time you can get a good combo in, the other guards are hitting you in the back. You either get good at using counters and grab-breaks, or you die. It sucks to have full health and get thrown off a dock because you weren't quick enough to break their grab. And many enemies at the end don't die in one counter, you just knock them down. I'm not saying there are any places that are incredibly hard, like Ninja Gaiden or something, but please, finish the game before you say it's too easy and poor ai. And if you think the combat mechanics are too simplistic, you're missing the point. Combat is not the point of the game; you're an assassin, not a gladiator.
As for the glitches, my system froze a few time during the course of the game. I could see taking points off for that. But I'd still call it an 8.5-9.0 game.
This game Is awesome. I can't believe how many people are complaining about the repetition I know THERE'S A LOT OF REPETITION.I figured many people would see beyond that and find that it's not what you have to do that matters, but HOW YOU DO IT.Even then i know the game's mission could use a little more variety. What I love about this game is ridiculous amount of detail in the game and no i don't mean graphics. If you want to know what I'm talking, about beat the game, let the credits roll, walk around the lab, and ...............press (Y), you'll choose what to do after that. If you do this you will understand the ending and plot a little better and you will see the FUTURE. Nothing Is True, Everything Is Permitted.
....In other words I love this game and IMO it deserves the 9.0. Now I have to go back to my RESEARCH.
Safety and Peace my brothers...

i haven't noticed any major glitches when I have played that I can remember. I have the 360 version. I have a ps3 as well, but I get all multi plats on the 360 because of the controller. Maybe there is some issues with the ps3 version or something.

I wont try to raise any spoilers but the one fight near the end... heh took me a few tries before they would all go down. Exactly what you is what happened, I would counter one and three guys would power hit me in the back, it was rough.[QUOTE="mastarifla"][QUOTE="tonyleo01"]Than you for agreeing, I have posted this twice and people just seem to ignore it... If you get the grab breaks and counters down though you can play like you are a gladiator. I mix it up actually when I play, alot of the times I will run and hide just because its quicker, but sometimes its fun to just massacre a mountain of troops.Everyone who has said it, in the thread, apparently has the PS3 version :/[QUOTE="mastarifla"][QUOTE="hellsingfan666"]Just finished it today looking forward to AC2, combat was meh after awhile, but as someone said counters never get old. good story presentation as well. I think my game froze twice, but my console was on for 8 hours that day lol, stupid achievementsI'd say the game is good, not awesome. I'll finish it when I'm done playing better games like Super Mario Galaxy and Mass Effect, but from what I've played, the first four missions, I don't know, I just can't get into this game as much as I thought I would.Gamer46It should be getting better soon, the assassinations will turn out to be a little bit more fun ;)

Sounds good. I should have Mass Effect completed in the next day or two so I'll get back to AC then. Like I said, not a bad game, but nothing mind blowing either. To be fair, I think my expectations may have been a little too high also.

Just like you can do block-breaking moves, the enemies can too, and they hurt. The only difference is there's one of you, and usually 5-10 of them, plus a few more shooting arrows at you for good measure. The AI is not bad just beacuase you can kill people in one hit, it's actually fairly realistic, I thought.

Yea I am taking my time with Mass Effect right now, I am only at the beginning but I really haven't been "Grabbed" into playing it nonstop yet, maybe I have to get past the second mission.Well when I am playing I keep my attacks very minimal,I heavily rely on counters. Usually my attacks are more stealth oriented, if I am in a big battle I will back into a corner and let the soldiers attack me, and just counter them all day with grab breaks and etc. Its all timing, once you get into a rythm its over. I am not done with the game, I have like 3 more assasinations to go, but unless the difficulty steps up a lot then I am going to breeze through the last three. tylerdurden2621Oh I thought you were done with the game haha, no the AI is about to take another step up, watch your back when you counter ;) They will power you the instant after the counter is done.

The game does get better as you go along though, obviously. Kind of like I'm sure AC does, I want to finish it because I don't want to judge the game on only 4 missions. Maybe when all is said and done, I'll realize why GS gave it a 9.
it's a good game though it's not the best and doesn't deserve a 9PS360Fanboy
yes, anyone doubting this read gamespot's review and then read 1up's review, you'll see what we mean.
