Because some people won't believe this game would be awesome, I have decided to make a hype thread, something that I usually don't do unless it's like uber-ultra-mega-super-omg-theres-a-bear-playing-hendrix-guitar-on-fire-scale awesome game such as Valkyria Chronicles 2 (by the way, which is, like, uber-ultra-mega-super-omg-theres-a-bear-playing-hendrix-guitar-on-fire-scale awesome). Quick Overview Publisher: Ubisoft Developer: Ubisoft Montreal (and 4 other Ubisoft development studios across the globe doing various parts) Genre: Historical Open World Action Adventure Release Date: November 16th 2010, February 22nd 2011 (PC) Platform: Playstation 3, XBOX 360, PC What is it? It's an uber-ultra-mega-sup... anyways, you get the idea. A third main entry to the series, even though Brotherhood is not a numbered entry, it is more than just an expansion with throw-in Call-of-Duty-style 4 hour single player campaign and a focus on multiplayer; it's a full-fledged Assassin's Creed game that fans will expect from a main entry. Perhaps packing even more baddassery than its predecessor (I mean, the game starts out when you get your intimate bed time with your lady interrupted by a canon ball crushing into your bedroom, which then translates into "omg, you are gonna all die" with your character kicking some serious asses in a hulk-like rampage in basically what is a pyjama. Try beating that), Brotherhood puts the players right after the events of Assassin's Creed II (which needed some serious explaining to do with its endings anyway), and let them control the beloved Renaissance character Ezio to once again bastardize the human history and kill some Templars on the way with uber-ultra-mega-sup...(shortened for convenience) dual hidden blades. If you for some weird reason did not see why it is so effing awesome already due to your supposed lack of insight in how our video gaming industry relates with the contemporary (and historical) examples of badassery, let's look at the facts: you, as an assassin, kill bunch of dudes who were supposedly killed by some other dudes, but in reality you killed them with your hidden blades, built by Leonardo Da Vinci (... plus with a tank, a Gatling gun, missiles, and flying bombers designed by the same guy) Clearly, his biggest contribution to mankind isn't Mona Lisa, The Last Supper, or Da Vinci Code, but the tool that made killing politicians officially badass On top of that, you are now able to build and manage your own Assassin Order (I know how much you guys craved this when you killed that a-hole of a teacher in Assassin's Creed 1), from recruiting poor souls in Rome's dark corners to sending them to missions in Spain, England, France (like, if they needed one, but still), or Germany, equipping them with weapons of your choice, leveling them up, and ultimately aiding you in missions. Oh and did I mention how freaking large Rome is? It's the only main city, sadly, but it's 3 times the size of Florence in Assassin's Creed II. And Florence in that game was big, as in badass big. And since Venice was smaller than Florence, if you do the math, we are actually getting a bigger map than Assassin's Creed II. I know. It's crazy. In Brotherhood, you will now face Cesare Borgia, the official badass of Ezio's era (You know, considering Ezio isn't.... well.... real), not some sissy old obese pope who was so physically impossible to swing his sword anyway (my only gripe with Assassin's Creed II, really). I mean, Rodrigo Borgia, or Pope Alexander VI, was not a "bad" bad guy to kill, but his son is just simply better. To start with, he was the model of Machiavelli's The Prince. You know, that book saying if you wanna run a country you gotta kick some asses to get things straight? Yeah, that's a story about Cesare Borgia. And not to mention he conquered tons of land and dubbed as one of the most celebrated Renaissance generals, until his father died and the French (I know, he had to see it coming) turned against him, and was killed in 1507 during a siege of a Spanish castle called Viana. For a guy who lived 31 years, that's pretty impressive resume. And the best thing is, of course, you get to kill him. Oh and did I mention you can do that while looking like a 21st century Gekko-killing cyborg ninja? Because awesome characters deserve to assassinate awesome characters And there is the entire multiplayer aspect that is being developed by the same guys (Ubisoft Annecy) who also made multiplayer component for Splinter Cell Chaos Theory, which everyone seems to like. If you didn't like the entire run-and-gun-no-skill-involved-why-the-heck-are-newbs-getting-more-killstreaks-than-me-(rage)-gar in Call of Duty, Brotherhood sets you up as a Templar (that is, the enemy of Assassins) trainee in Animi to train for the impending war against the Assassins. You will have to be smart and use some head (yes, this is a revolutionary M-rated game that finally lets you tell your parents that it's educational) to out-smart your foes to strike them before they know you are there -- you know, in Assassin style. So far, the Beta is getting some very good reactions, and since this is finally a multiplayer that doesn't involve either 1) running (for the most part) or, 2) gunning, it's going to be a nice fresh treat for some of you who will be too tired of pwning noobs in Black Ops. aside: I vote this guy for the main target in Assassin's Creed III, and the contemporary leader of the Templar Order. He probably is anyway. Oh and there is this entire Desmond the Bartender part but no one cares about that anyway, so I will save it for now. Screenshots Videos E3 2010 TrailerE3 2010 DemoStory trailerRome TrailerMultiplayer TrailerGiantBomb Quick Look: Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood Multiplayer Beta ps. I'm sorry for over-use of the term "badass", I have been obviously reading Cracked.com too much.

More of the same. I want to see a sort of leap in the series like Bioshock Infinite is doing. I might rent it.

This game is shaping up to be very close to perfect. The only potential problem I forsee is a problem I have had with the previous games....the combat is just way, way too easy. There is almost no need for stealth. That said, I used stealth anyway like a true assassin but I would prefer a tougher combat system so that you would really try hard to avoid a battle (at least against multiple guards).

That said, the series has just enough conspiracy, secret treasure, hidden passages, and all that glorious stuff to have me addicted through and through. The story isfascinating. It isprettyaccurate historically, with their own story that tiestogether major events of the past. Pretty damn good overall. I also like thelittledab of science fiction, whichadds to the mystery of it all.

And I do care about Desmonds part, OP. Everything I have heard of Brotherhood makes me very interested in playing as Desmond this time around. I love that we will be in modern day Monteriggioni. It will be cool to see the differences.

I am going to go with 9.0 on this one. I loved AC II, but Brotherhood looks superior in every way to me. It is not just some add-on quality game at full price, that much is clear. It is a buy for me.

You can't be serious. The MP looks very basic and thrown in for replay value. It looks pretty clear that most of the focus has gone into the single player. The single player is actually bigger than the previous games. Apparently it will take 25 hours to go through, and venture into the 40's if you do all of the side stuff.

One of my main problems with AC2 is that it was to easy, the guards were really stupid, but I read in this Croatian magazine I trust, that the fights will be somewhat harder and that guards are much smarter, like the Papal Swiss Guard.

AAA.

about the combat system and the difficulty..... Ubisoft changed the battle system, made it even bigger leap from AC1 to AC2, so now it's not just L1 and counter-kill all the way (in fact, if you take the initiative and if you are great, you get to kill tons of guys without them laying a hit on you while you are not in defensive mode). And there are more enemy variety too.

Something beyond the new gameplay features that stands out to me is the improvement of the character models. No more cross-eyed, goofy looking faces. A stark improvement in that area.

Very nice thread.

Ah, Assassin's Creed. A fresh-new franchise this gen that I'd love to consider innovative in its own unique way.

Ubisoft's added a lot in Brotherhood. So much that has lefted me thinking, "What more can they add in AC3?"

I'm obvisously getting it. The one franchise the Ubisoft superbly & talently crafted. I love it so super much. The story in Assassin's Creed 2 is the absolute best as of yet. Though, the cutscenes weren't fluidly crafted and fades in comparison to the likes of Uncharted 2 - in pace, reality, depth, cinematic feel....but they did get their message across and get my $60 dollar purchase for their talented effort.

I'm loving everything, I'm seeing so far of Brotherhood. I never got the chance to play the Beta, so I certainlyhope and you'll find me crossing my fingers, that the online component of this game comes out working fantastic. And I'll expect nothing less from the Single player campaign.

Hype is AAA.

No dude altair was like a lone wolf that was awesome and the way he talks was better than ezio, the story is better also it's not just about killing 9 tepmlars play it again, and wasn't predictable like ac2, i mean who would have thought that al mualim was a templer, also al mualim lectures were amazing if you listen to them, and the game nailed it with the arabian feel and how people talk , the only thing that i didn't like was you can't assassinate from above and swim also the final boss battle was better than fighting that old borgia bastard it was boring, all the voice actors were good in ac1( al mualim, malik and altair were amazing and very real), in ac2 it was only ezio his father and and somehow borgia lol, ac1 was diffenetley better story wise and voice acting i loved it, i wish altair would at least be mentioned or at least speaks with desmond in brotherhood, and ac1 assassinations were bad ass, altair is like a dark man .

I can't help but look at the game as a spacefiller between AC2 and AC3 but i'll probably get the game anyway... Looks great and i hope the SP is a full on similar to AC2 one which rocked...

Might rent it on PS3 due to the exclusive DLC. Hope it turns out good. I know Ubi SAYS the port will be good, but I have learned not to listen to devs when they say this.

i don't get why people are treating brotherhood as a spin off rather than AC 3. i mean, they said it would have the longest single player in the franchise, and it finishes the ezio saga. it's not because they added a whole new mode which they're using as the highlight of the game that it's a spin off.
