it's priced as a full game because it IS a full game. sequels are NOT expansion packs. grabbing an old example, there's a difference between diablo 2 lord of destruction and diablo 3.

BrunoBRS

I lol'd. Lord of Destruction is a game released in 2000. Diablo 3 is possibly coming 2011. Not only that, but they are built on entirely different engines and will be addressing completely different stories. This is an addition to Ezio's tale. If anything, its a spinoff. I wanted a full ACIII, not a spinoff expansion pack. I want to see the conclusion of the story with Desmond, not more of Ezio.

The definition of expansion pack is fluid. It isn't a set idea. DLC can technically be defined as an expansion pack. If I define this as an expansion pack, then it is a legitimate proposal. I don't see why this could be anything else. It should be no more than $30. Hell, ACII shouldn't have been more than $40 in my opinion.

so by your definition of "anything goes", sequels are expansion packs. because you know, same main character, similar gameplay and setting, must be an expansion.

20+ SP with importance in the story, bringing in new gameplay mechanics and some from the first game (genres, interrogation, and able to go back to any memory), and an added multiplayer.

Sounds like a full-length game that $60 worthy to me.

[QUOTE="BrunoBRS"]*rushes through OP to stay as ignorant as possible about this game* i've only seen the announcement CGI teaser and gamespot's latest video preview since E3 :D it's assassin's creed. AAA :D ok and what's a "52k" connection? :P

That's Canadian dial up. :P I'm hyping it AAA, I loved both AC games and I'm very sure that I will love Brotherhood.

I'm guessing AA.

I was really hoping the next installment would take another leap in time and tech. This will still be a lot of fun though I'm sure.

[QUOTE="BrunoBRS"]an expansion pack with the size of a brand new game and a whole new multiplayer mode... i wish expansion packs were as big as brotherhood.foxhound_fox

The problem is, this is priced like a full game, when it is essentially an expansion pack. And honestly, I wish games like this were priced like expansion packs, because then I'd be more likely to try it. Given its focus on multiplayer, I have absolutely no interest in it. There are PC standalone expansion packs with tons more content than this, and cost $30 to start. This is going to be $60.

omg, I wrote OP so people can actually read the damn thing, and no one does because it's so badass?? xD btw, Single Player and Multiplayer are designed by two different studios essentially

Haters gonna hate. Probably gonna be my second-favorite game this year next to BB:CS. YEAH!

EDIT: Oh, and I STILL don't understand the mentality behind the "this-game-is-an-expansion" thing. It's literally a totally new game with a 15-hour single player story mode, along with an innovative multiplayer component. Makes me almost want to assassinate myself when I realize that you get a lot less out of every new re-skinned Call of Duty game with 3-hour campaigns and small multiplayer tweaks; yet people still eat that crap up year after year (including myself, so I guess that makes me a hypocrite).

Some people just have different views on matters like these....or it could be that we are on System Wars

Either way, I feel you.
Actually a few posts above you, there was somebody indicating the SP experience is a few more hours than 15 hours on top of the side missions and bam!, you have an "Expansion" that gifts you with about 30-35 fricking hours of mindless fun.

And lets be rational here mate, its Assassin's Creed, we're going to be buying it. Love it or hate it.

Haters are gona get what's comming to em'

Looks like Gameinformer gave it a 9.25!

http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/960189-call-of-duty-black-ops/57053188?page=7

Concept - Return to the Italian Renaissance for the second part of Ezio's story

Graphics - Incredible detail brings the city of Rome to life, and animation work continues to impress

Sound - Excellent voice work and a strong score add drama and excitement.

Playability - Brotherhood refines the existing mechanics and features much improved combat

Entertainment - A thrilling follow-up for series faithful, but new recruits should just start with earlier games

Replay Vaulue - moderately high

For comparison, they gave ACII a 9.5.

Awesome. They rate it higher than ACII. And ACII had different cities and more content onspecific missions, single player wise.

Its looking really good. 9.5 on Gamespot confirmed? :|

Anyway, I'll go with an 8.5. It could squeak a 9.0 and surprise people though.

And they probably gave it a lower score because its NOT AC3.

How is 9.5 higher than 9.25, unless ofcourse that means 9.50? God I hate GI's rating system.

So let me correct what I said, even if this game somehow is still longer than ACII, single player wise and with multiplayer added with several modes, new weapons, new combos, new finishing moves, new gameplay mechnanics...its still lower compared to ACII standards?

Did they deduct points for not being able to travel to different cities or the actual lack of cities in Brotherhood? Because the score should have been the same if not higher, imo.

9.5 For me personally although I'm expecting a 9.0 from GS. I liked AC, and adored AC2 so much I beat it twice and have a platinum trophy. I already ore-ordered it too. hehe

It pretty much is 9.50. It goes like 9, 9.25, 9.5, 9.75, and 10. Not really confusing.

And I guess the standards went up and also because maybe that AC:B isn't that huge of leap ahead of ACII.

This game should have come out next year to early I sense AA with to much focus on multiplayer...

Drakan11

You can't be serious. The MP looks very basic and thrown in for replay value. It looks pretty clear that most of the focus has gone into the single player. The single player is actually bigger than the previous games. Apparently it will take 25 hours to go through, and venture into the 40's if you do all of the side stuff.

But they said 15 hours.... :(

Not many people excited for this game? *sigh* Another overlooked game. ACII was brilliant but had the bad luck of being overshadowed by Uncharted. Personally looking forward to it. Only game I've pre-ordered this year.

A guy who streamed it yesterday finished it in 20 hours. The single player is plenty long enough.

Thank you, i was going to make a hype thread because nobody is doing one until now, this game deserves a hype thread and Im playing Brotherhood right now and I can only say it's an amazing game and it has evolved and there is something so awesome about it and it's a first for any sandbox game, the idea is crazy, Im just going to see how that idea is going to evolve throughout the game.

AAA 9.0.

I just want to add another point for this amazing franchise, I think people should call it the most overlooked franchise in history, it's one of the best franchises ever graced gaming but I don't know why the press can't give it any award, this series deserves more credit but I think Ubisoft doesn't mind since its selling like crazy with every installment and Im happy for the team because of that :)

AAA 9.0.

HAZE-Unit

Thanks for the quick impressions, HAZE. My copy is on the way and I am looking forward to digging into it myself tonight.

Great score, which I predicted :P. Should be fun for those interested. I won't be getting it though. Kevin awarded it with the "Get More Than Your Money's Worth" medal, so that's awesome.
