AC1 was a terrible repetitive borefest. Thign only thing that was mildly entertaining in the game was the swordplay, which got old after a 20 minutes.

ACII improved on AC in basically every meaningful way. The only aspect about ACII that is genuinely dislikable compared to the first is the story and ending. It definitely can be a "love/hate" situation with regards to the ACII ending... but calling AC the "better" game when clearly ACII annihilates it in every possible way? That is... wow.

I loved AC as well... but that doesn't make it a "better" game than ACII.

Assassin's Creed was so much better then AS2. AC was fun throughout the whole game. Yeah the 3 missions before you kill a boss got a little repetive but I'd rather do them then go on random assassination missions where I kill people for basically no reason. It took the fun out of the game. The boss fights in AC were just EPIC not so much in AC2. I thought each and every boss fight in AC2 was just weak. I hate how they made the game easier to. The only time I died in AC2 was when I fell off a building that was too high for me to land. The story was also another weak point well at least until the VERY end. In AC the story was just more dramatic. I didn't know if I was doing the right thing or if I was the bad guy. Adding armor and weapon upgrades just seemed needless.

Did anyone solve all 21 hidden puzzles in the game?

Sorry to sound harsh, but I think only someone who has never played ACII would make a statement like that. Yes, it was THAT much better than the repetitive snooze-fest that was AC1.

I heartily agree with that one. The final fisticuffs were a bit exciting due to the dialogue, but it was basically square, square, square, square, square, R1, square, square, square, square...

Does AC even have bosses?

If you like mind-numbingly tedious boredom, that is.

AC2 >>> AC1.

Desmond is a lame character in both.

Well i just got the game today, so i will play a couple of hours and decide. As long as they got rid of the repetitive nature (that is the same things done before an assassination) then it will be better :P

I couldn't disagree with you more TC. I though AC1 was very overated and was a 7/10 game imo. AC2 on the other hand really surprised me and was an exceptionally good game.

Assassin's Creed is enjoyable. I'm playing it now.

Assassin's Creed 2 however is AWESOME. I haven't played it but from what I've seen from my cousin playing the game it looks great!

Disagree AC2 is far superior in nearly everyway Unless you call "the crappy forced mini missions" as found in AC1 superior

I haven't played the first game, but I agree on the bosses (boss, really) in ACII to be a bit boring. Basically, it was just a stronger normal enemy, nothing else.

i agree about the bosses. AC2 doesn't really even have them. There are these punching bags at the ends of plot threads of course, but no epic fight like in AC1 final bosses. Also, I really liked those countryside areas in AC1, and their replacement in AC2 of just surrounding huts and stuff is almost as good but missing that little something extra. Playing AC1 I thought they had the seeds of a great idea with stealth but the game wasn't difficult enough for you to really respect your enemies so you didn't have to use these stealth elements at all. I though AC2 would solve that but they just made it worse. I don't respect any level of intimidation the game has to offer. AC2 better than AC1 but I was hoping for a little more

Well assassins creed 1 felt like they just finished 1/3 of the game and were like, Oh crap! this game needs to come out now! What do we do?!?! OH why don't we just copy and paste the first 1/3 two times? There we go!

...Wow. I'm going to have to respectfully disagree.

AC1 was way too repetitive.

Silverbond
Agreed. While I did love the original Assassin's Creed, the game was way too repetitive. Not only did they remedy that in the sequel, but they added so much more...

I enjoyed AC, in fact I didn't even find it repetitive but AC2 was much better. But there're a few things that I didn't like about AC2. First of all it was a piece of cake, it was so easy, and I agree with you the boss fights suck in AC2. Also you can't replay the main missions :/

PostNothing
Yeah I wanted to do the last mission over but I don't want to have to play through the whole game again just to see the ending.

Do you have annoying stealth missions in AC2 where if you get seen you fail? and all you have to do to get seen is walk faster then like a saint... because that really pissed me off in AC1
I personally dont believe that anyone could say that the original Assassin's Creed was better than the second, however AC2 is far from "the best sequal to a game this gen".

- Being able to use healing items in this game completely negates any incentive to avoid combat, making this game way too easy. The only moments where you will probably die are during mandatory stealth segments(the lack of stealth elements are to blame) and falling to your death.

- Assassinations in AC2 arent as thrilling as they were compared to it's predecessor. You actually chase your target down, but in AC2 they go down within seconds.

- Side missions are still crap

- New addtions in the game(like being able to throw sand on your enemies, and other hardly effective moves etc.) are pretty pointless, not to mention that the lackluster combat system is still relatively intact form AC1, hopefully Ubi will revamp the whole combat system for the inevitable AC3.

Ninten007

I dont think you get the concept of Assassin's Creed. The point is not to chase down your target but to kill them stealthily and quietly.

Yeah but in part one it was way more fun to chase them down and kill them.

Ninten007

Well, there is hardly this emphasis as compared to the original AC, in one asassination, the game acually suggests you to use your "gun" then going in for the kill >_>.

There was a big chase to kill Franceso De Pazzi in part 2. Unlike the targets of the first Creed, he was able to run up buildings and scale them as good as Ezio.

But for a Assassin's Creed nut like me I find it more satisfying to kill with stealth instead of causing all that ruckus that sends everyone after you. With practice and learning new routes I was able to kill near every target with stealth in both games. Of course the game has to allow it, but when there is a key piece where you have to fight a horde, it is no problem for me.

My favorites in Creed 2 are boat kills, where you go to a big ship with small boats having guards. It is so satisfying to swim to the ship and climb it and wait til the target is nearby and throw him in the water and no one knows where their master has gone to. It is better than getting caught and having everyone fight you and shoot arrows at you.

To me that would have been lame. You do it quickly and then your done off to the next mission. BOOOORING.

Dude are you crazy?! AC1 put me to sleep! That game was so dry, so boring, I tried very hard to play through the game on numerous occasions but eventually said Blank this and moved onto something else. I just got AC2 for Christmas and it's the complete opposite. The setting is WAY more interesting, better weapons, better A.I., TONS more to do now that you have currency, many more ways to mess with guards, and the story is also far better. It feels like you have so much more purpose now, instead of "we hate these dudes and want their stuff, go kill them for it". And what are you talking about random assassination missions? You are killing the people that killed your family! That's the least amount of random there is! On top of that the side assassination missions are to take out guards/people that are hurting your allies. I died a few times but yeah this game isn't that hard when you have like 15 health potions but I don't see how that's a bad thing, it's still difficult to figure out everything. Plus you are Ezio not some dweebo guard. You kill people for breakfast! I solved all 20 puzzles (I solved over half without the internet, but some of them are just insane). The truth is pretty cool, and it ties into the end of the game. I don't mean to sound harsh but I haven't been this addicted to a game in quite some time. Uncharted 2 had me this addicted but it was only half as long too, and I got though half of AC2 and then my PS3 phat died so I lost my game save and had to start all over again on my new slim. In other words, this game has had me playing non stop for nearly 3 weeks. In short, AC2 is miles ahead of AC1.Phazevariance

I felt the exact same way about AC2.

I don't think you've played AC2 after reading your post. Sorry, but EVERYone who played both says AC2 is better, and it is. It's identical to AC1 but with tonnes of additions and improvements to both gameplay mechanics, storyline, characters, weapons... there's no question abou tit, AC2 > AC1

I wouldn't have made this topic if I had not played it. There are a few people here that agree with me. Alot of the extras in AC2 were totally unnecessary and useless. They dumbed down the difficulty in the game which totally killed it for me. It's like it was designed for 5 year olds.(not trying to insult anyone) "EVERYONE" did not say it was better. There's tons of additions but like I said most of them are useless. Improvements? The first game was not bad to begin with they just needed to get of the repetition which I didn't mind at all. Story was just weak to me and felt so cliche. "Someone killed my parents now I must get revenge"...

I don't get it. Game wasn't boring at all to me but I found part 2 to be just that. I loved the guys in the city yelling about how the kings were destroying their people. The guys in AC2 were to soft for me to hear anything they said unless I walked right up on them.

I loved assassins creed 2. Assassins creed 1 got quite repetetive and everyone I know who played it got bored out of their mind halfway through, but they all loved Assassins creed 2. I just really disliked the ending to 2. hmm.

I have to agree and disagree I liked the old method of pick pocketing it took more skill, I liked listening in on conversations to get clues, and I have to agree I have currently been playing AC2 for about 10 hours and only died twice and once was on purpose.

With AC you really had to take time and plan your assasination if you didnt want a S**t storm to fall around you thats not the case anymore and I feel you find yourself caring less as a result.

But I still cant put the damn game down.

I actually... AGREE. Why? The first one was THE first one. It felt new, it felt fresh. It was something I had never experienced before, so the magic was there. With the second one, it's more or less "more of the same." I never felt Assassin's Creed was repetitive - I played it whenever I was bored and loved every second of it, even going so far as to complete it within a week, something of which cannot be said for the second game (haven't even finished it yet, and haven't bothered to play it for about a month). Plus, I dislike the fast travel system, and I dislike that there isn't a spawling Italian countryside to traverse. The first just felt epic, the scope was far bigger, IMO. In the first, I felt like an Assasin. In the second, I feel like a guy wanting to be an Assassin. I loved Assassin's Creed, and although Assassin's Creed 2 improves upon it in some areas, it has also taken away some of the grandeur and the scope.

The only place that AC1 beat AC2 was the story. The plot in AC2 (especially at the end) got ****ing stupid.
and lol at adam and eve stealing the apple or whatever in that stupid video
Thanks for ruining the story guize!! It's only what I was most looking foward to in the game...

You have very good points!, I'll have to agree with everything said about AC , I loved it , but for some reason AC2 didn't turn me off as it did to you , maybe it's because I wasn't focused on the story ( which was really worse on AC2 ) but yeah something didn't feel right in AC2 but still , I loved it , the pros were so much higher than the cons and overall I'd say AC=AC2 in terms of enjoyment.

Whoa whoa whoa. I'm sorry but that is just crazy talk. Maybe you need to go back to AC1 and remind yourself how everything about that game was lacking and boring. Epic boss battles? Are you kidding me? It was the same. You follow the target, find a way to get around the guards, then take them out. There was nothing epic about it.

More dramatic story? There was no story in AC1. You did missions for your boss then at the end your boss tries to explain everything you've been doing the whole game. That isn't a story at all. And you weren't even a character in AC1. You were just a drone who did what he was told the whole game, until the final mission.

The assasination missions have no point? Did you even read the mission information about why those people were targets? Because they do tie in to the bigger story. And those "random" missions were voluntary. If you didn't like them you didn't have to do them. I understand that everyone has their own opinions...but in this case your opinion is just flat out wrong.

I will agree that AC2 is easier, but it is in a good way if you ask me. It is easier because you can do more, have more weapons and options and can buy health potions. All those things are better.

That's what I liked about the AC1 was the boss battles they were never the same. Now I am questioning did you even play the game. I never found the game to lacking or boring, hell even the running across rooftops was better in AC1. Every time Altair would kill someone they would give you this story of why what they were doing was for a greater cause and then you would question yourself "Am I the good guy or the bad guy."(well I did anyway) The AC2 story, I just didn't like it at all I wanted more mystery like the first game. "Easier in a good way" How? The game felt dumbed down.

Yeah, I played and beat the first game and am currently 20 hours into part 2. I am sucked into part 2 but had to force myself to keep playing the first game. So I stand by my comment that you should really go back and replay the first one to get with it.

Running on rooftops was better? Are you serious? There was tons of problems with having your guy suddenly leaping off in weird directions. You couldn't climb up walls if something was above you even though it looked like something even I could climb on, etc. The climbing of buildings and lookouts was way better in the second game too. It just feels quicker and smoother.

And when I say "easier in a good way" I already explained it. The game seems easier because everything about the game is better. You have more weapons to chose from so you can pick weapons that work best for how you play. You have more fighting moves to take down bad guys. The returning moves like the counter-kill aren't as spotty in their timing as the first game was making it more natural to pull off. You also have a number of special moves you can learn to take down multiple enemies at once. Also, yo have the ability to buy health potions so you can heal yourself on the fly. That means the game is better, not dumbed down.

I posted this in a couple of other threads, but my personal opinion is that AC 2 is an all around better game, but I much preferred AC 1's setting and characters.

I swear it's like we played two different games. What you feel about the first and second games are the exact opposite how I felt about both. I had to make myself finish AC2 it felt like GTA IV to me all over again.... I had no problems climbing buildings or jumping off roofs in the first game but had many of those issues in the second game. And 20 hours? I don't think I could take it if I had played AC2 for 20 hours and still had not manage to beat it.
