After reading that some of my faith has been restored. I only hope they seriously overhaul the free running mechanics. I'm playing Assassin's Creed 2 right now and far too often Ezio just does whatever the hell he wants (as well as the camera). It's not broken but certain jumps and movements that require you to be precise are needlessly frustrating. And please just completely ditch the old combat system. It's seriously lame.

Haha, Assassins' Scrolls: Skyrim confirmed.

Actually the game sounds a lot like Red Dead too. Seems cool.

Cherokee_Jack

the emphasis on countryside and similarities to RDR actually kinda worry me. but tree climbing sounds like a cool enough reason to enjoy the wilderness.

and how often do you guys think the seasons will change? the game's probably going to last 20-something hours, so how can they handle that without separating the seasons by chapters?

[QUOTE="BrunoBRS"]it seems like the hatchet (or tomahawk, if you feel like calling it that) has replaced my dear hidden blade. i'm basing that on its unique design (blade shaped like the assassin's emblem) and the fact that it's shown as the execution weapon on the cover of the game (i.e. there's a lot of emphasis on it and connor is on the traditional leap kill pose, but holding the hatchet instead of the hidden blade). i'll miss the SHWINGs that they did when used.

A hatchet and tomahawk are not the same thing per se. The former is usually just a hand axe, while the latter can be a hand axe, throwing axe and tobacco pipe all in one. And the way in which the other major assassins have been depicted in the series (such as Caesar and Genghis Khan's assassins), they all had their own unique weapons, and the hidden blade seemed to be a weapon unique to the hashashin in the Middle East and was bright back to Europe after the Crusades. I like the fact they want to change it up. If Connor "Rahtonhaketon" (I would hope there is some decent background behind this name) focuses on bow/tomahawk combat, it could make for some really fantastic gameplay (especially if he doesn't have a gun himself, and focuses on silent takedowns and proper stealth/stalking). And he probably won't be encountering as many swords either, as muskets and bayonets were far more common, and sabres tended to only be fielded by officers.

It has been completely reworked. Lock on had been done away with entirely.

It'd be really hard to keep the old system considering the time period. If I'm not mistaken, guns were more common back in the Revolution. There will probably be a greater focus on ranged combat, with the bow and tomahawk that is. In order to do that though, they would have to change things up if they wanted something at least half way decent because the previous games can't stand alone at all in terms of ranged combat. I can imagine there being an aiming mode in a TPS fasion. Maybe even a cover system (more similar to Deus Ex stealth type rather than Uncharted and Gears).

The first Assassins creed is my favorite. Until now.

Can't wait. The only AC game i played was ACII. I'm not interested in trying out BH or Rev.

There is clearly a hidden blade on the inside of Connor's glove, just like usual, as made clear by the concept art. If you read the Game Informer article Ubisoft even confirms the hidden blade returning.

I did the right thing, i skipped AC Brotherhood and revelations, Assassins Creed had to go straight from 2 to 3, there was no need to make ACII spin offs. This is the real deal. The setting and the seasons alone got me interested in this game, sold.

honestly, so much has happened plotwise in AC:B and AC:R, theyre pretty much essential to the series' storyline.

one of the promo arts has him holding a flintlock.

I don't see how anyone can be disappointed by any of this. I went from being like 'Yeah I'll get it because I like Assassin's Creed' to 'OMG I WANT IT NOW'. It's now my most anticipated title of 2012. So excite.

i'm not THAT excited, but i definitely changed from "yeah i'll get it because i like AC" to hype mode :P again, the opposite reaction i got from revelations. when i saw the E3 demo i was so disappointed... "they just grabbed all the stealth improvements from brotherhood and threw it off the window, and instead gave him grenades, C4 and a flamethrower"

get it on the ps3 for free goodies, better graphics and performance, as well as a sturdier disc, better online community and a funner overall experience with a less chance of it being ruined due to RROD.

the hell are you talking about? where in my post did i mention different versions?

Very much looking forward to this game. So glad they decided to leave the den defense out of the game. It worried me that it would be popular and included in every AC forward. It took away from my Revelations experience so much. I spent way too much time chasing after things to keep my notoriety down just so I didn't have to play the stupid mini game.

- Fighting and stealth will be completely redesigned, with Connor being compared to a "predator". The player will be able to climb trees and other natural elements, and dual-wielding weapons such as a dagger and a tomahawk is now also an option.

- Animals will be present in the woods, like deer and bears. The player will be able to kill them and pelt their skins, to sell them later with the reformed economic system of the game.

YYYYYEEEEAAAAAHHHHHHH BABY!!

the emphasis on countryside and similarities to RDR actually kinda worry me. but tree climbing sounds like a cool enough reason to enjoy the wilderness.

I thought that was more for if you played the game more then once. I thought the seasons changed in real time. So if you were playing in Winter then it would be Winter in the game, If you were playing in Spring it would be Spring in game, if you were playing in Summer it would be Summer in game, and if you were playing in Fall it would be Fall in game.

I think it will be like Mafia 2 or Bully. The seasons change automatically depending on your progress.
