[QUOTE="OGTiago"]Nope, ps3 version seems to be the most buggy.NathanDrake

Dude....I've been reading your posts for a while and you are the biggest fanboy out of any single user on this site. You'r like if I tell you that the sky is blue you'll say it's red just because you hate the sky!!

You have no credibility what so ever!

Its funny because the few posts of yours ive seen have all been very biased.

[QUOTE="Escobahr"]oh hey just thought id mention...most times screen tearing has more to do with your HDTV than it does with your game and system. i have experienced no tearing at all with my PS3 copy of AC. but i also researched my tv before i bought it.x-2tha-z
Sorry, not calling you stupid, but screen tearing occurs when devs don't include v-sync. No v-sync means better frame rate. It has nothing to do with your tv but I also do research on a topic before I speak about it.

you couldnt be more wrong for example....

"Hi guys, I have a question regarding other people's experiences with screen tearing & HD-DVD. I have an Xbox 360 HD-DVD add on and a Sony KDS60A2000 tv. They are connected via component cables using 1080i on the 360. I have never had any problems watching HD-DVD on it and neither has anyone else who has viewed it in my house.

However just recently one of my friends mentioned all he sees is screen tearing. When he mentioned it, I asked other people in the room if they could see it and nobody else says that they can see it. This confuses me. Is it possible for only one person to see screen tearing and nobody else? I haven't seen anybody else report problems like this. He is the only person out of everyone who has seen my HD-DVD setup that has reported seeing this. We were watching the following DVD's while trying to see what he was seeing:

-Serenity
-Chronicles of Riddick
-Bourne Supremacy"

as you can see this gamer is actually having issues with hddvd movies....not games. its his tv. and heres why....

Tearing is a phenomenon that gives a disjointed image. The idea is as if you took a photograph of something, then rotated your vew maybe just 1 degree to the left and took a photograph of that, then cut the two pictures in half and taped the top half of one to the bottom half of the other. The images would be similar but there would be a notable difference in the top half from the bottom half. This is what is called tearing on a visual display. It doesn't always have to be cut right in the middle. It can be near the top or the bottom and the separation point can actually move up or down the screen, or seem to jump back and forth between two points.

Why does this happen? Lets take a specific example. Let's say your monitor is set to a refresh rate of 75Hz. You're playing your favorite game and you're getting 100FPS right now. That means that the mointor is updating itself 75 times per second, but the video card is updating the display 100 times per second, that's 33% faster than the mointor. So that means in the time between screen updates, the video card has drawn one frame and a third of another one. That third of the next frame will overwrite the top third of the previous frame and then get drawn on the screen. The video card then finishes the last 2 thirds of that frame, and renders the next 2 thirds of the next frame and then the screen updates again. As you can see this would cause this tearing effect as 2 out of every 3 times the screen updates, either the top third or bottom third is disjointed from the rest of the display. This won't really be noticeable if what is on the screen isn't changing much, but if you're looking around quickly or what not this effect will be very apparant.

as you can see its an issue between a video source and the crt/monitors refresh rate. alot of the samsung flat panels had to be recalled due to refresh issues.

so, no...its not a code problem in the game

yes it is.. if a developer varies with those settings, it will allow them to keep a more steady framerate.. but because your tv has a steady refreshrate, screentearing will occur.

what your doing is called conflating....your associating a solution to a problem.

let me explain. the more on screen detail, color and resolution you display the more chance you stand to suffer from sync/refresh issues if you have a tv that cannot properly support 720p/1080i/1080p

this is a fact.

now, if a dev decides to lower the demands o his game, by lowering the resources it takes to display the game....this will take stress off of the HDTV and eliviate refresh issues

there is a series of samsung tvs that work great as regular hdtv (movies,tv) but when a game is ran through them tearing occurs

not to say this is 100% the reason AC is tearing, but it would explain why your not seeing this issue across the board with the game

food for thought

there is screen tearing in heavenly sword, dirt, and some other games. it's the same for everyone.

The screen will perform constant so it's performance will be the same on all games. It's what on the DISC that causes the screen tearing.

the most probable reason for people not experiencing it, is because they don't know what it really is.

Escobahr give it up man. If it was my tv then all my games would have screen tearing. Not just some. Bioshock on 360 has an option to turn v-sync on or off so people can choose between better framerate and screen tearing. It would solve a lot of problems if this option was included in more console games. It's been in pc games for years.

OK. For some reason I decided to get the PS3 version of AC. It has horrible screen tearing and there's a topic on Ubisofts forums about 30 pages long of people saying AC is locking up their PS3. It hasn't locked up my PS3 yet but I'm only a few hours in. Does the 360 version suffer from really bad screen tearing and lock-ups too? I'm thinking about returning the PS3 version and getting the 360 version instead. Thanks. x-2tha-z

Yeah the 360 does it too. It's horrible. You might as well stay with the PS3 version because it doesn't get any better on the 360.

http://www.diggingtheweb.com/Video/Game/news07novdec/111807.html

These videos where taken from a 360 version of AC. Now tell me...is your PS3 copy that bad??

I think you made the right choice!!

NathanDrake

I think you're a fanboy. And seriously, did you read the site? The second one was from the PS3 versian. See how the site labeled that as the "Serious stuff" not just a random glitch? I just had a good LOL at you.

I did say that the second video is from the PS3 version....read above. Also the 360 has far bigger problems than the PS3 version! And as far as freezing up goes....you 360 owners have no ground to stand on. Thousands of RROD. So that's a small problem that they show on the PS3 version. But the 360 one is horrible.

PS: it's spelled versION not versIAN !:D

I'm still loling. Read the quote. You edited that after you saw your mistake. Secondly, my 360 has never froze and I beleive we are talking about assasins creed not about consoles. The mere fact you bring in a console argument is sheer evidence you are a fanboy. Secondly, I can guarentee you havn't played both versians. The only videos I've seen of a 360 glitch/screen tear is that one you posted from a nobody site, showing one glitch. Compared to thousands of complaints on the PS3 version.

Lastly your spelling truly is awful, so I suggest you don't even try to lecture me on that unless you want me to scrutenise every single post in this thread and pull up all your terrible mistakes.

"well it's clearly wors.....way wors!!"

I mean, seriously man. What the hell is that meant to say? Secondly you over-use the exclamtion mark and elipses. Making your posts sound like 11 year olds ramblings and shoutings. You really should re-take your english or not critisise others when you are far, far worse.

for someone who came here looking for help it seems your pretty close minded....perfect mindest for SW...

anyhow...hey you may wanna explain your theories to these people as well..

"To: Samsung Electronics USA

We, the undersigned, are either owners or soon-to-be owners of your latest generation of HDTV LCD Screens (LN-Txx42H/53H).

We have discovered an issue with your screens which is referred to as video "tearing". This defect is best described as a "thin line" or "ripple" across the screen, where the image above and below it are refreshing at different points.

This problem is seen at 480p, 720p, and 1080i from different sources (HD Satellite, HD Cable, DVD, Xbox, PS3, Wii) and with both HDMI and Component connections. The problem is worst at 480p and 720p, which are both resolutions your screens are claimed to handle.

We know for a fact that these problems have been brought to the attention of your Tier1 and Tier2 customer services representatives. We also know that a nearly identical problem was reported 2 years ago in the UK for the LExxR41/51, a set made by Samsung UK, and that eventually a firmware update was released which eliminated the tearing. We would like to know exactly what Samsung's view is on this problem, and how it is going to be rectified, for current, and future owners of this set! "

or this guy
"Samsung LCDs are known to do this. This type of tearing is different from those game specific tearing. I've tried multiple component devices on my Samsung LCD TV and the same type of tearing occurs in the bottom third of the screen. I then took my component devices and tested them on OTHER HDTVs, no tearing whatsoever. I was sure that my TV was having problems before I complained to Samsung and requested help."

heres another guy whos taken vids of his issues
"

Examples of the Video Tearing Problem with Samsung LN-T3242H

Look along the bottom quarter of the image for a horizontal line that rises from the bottom, then disappears. These videos/stills were taken with a digicam pointed at the TV. The Xbox 360 was connected to the TV via its component cables and was running at 720p resolution."
http://www.rnrh.net/video/samsung_tearing/

yet another

"I currently have a 32" Samsung LCD TV, LN-S3251D. It has tearing issues, and because nothing can be done, they will replace my model with a newer version, a LN-T.

The only thing is I'm reading that some of these are also having tearing issues!

Does anyone know of a comparable Samsung model I could get as a replacement that DOESN'T have tearing? It's really annoying seeing that tear whenever I want to play games!

I've read that the LN-T3253H has a firmware upgrade that is supposed to fix tearing. Can anyone verify that the upgrade actually fixes the solution? If not I'll see if I can manage a refund with Samsung. If all their TVs have this problem, I don't want one."

i really think this tearing, glitches and other issues AC may be having are so in the minority, but being blown out of proportion by fanboys from both sides.....have fun

Thanks. I should've expected the tearing though. Most of Ubisofts games I've played this gen have screen tearing. I think I'll stick with the PS3 version and send Ubisoft an e-mail and ask them to start using v-sync. Assasins Creed is still an awesome game even with the lack of v-sync. I'd recommend it to anyone who hasn't played it yet.

Well I'm calm in a sence...just getting old seeing fanboys bash the PS3....when clearly AC is better on the PS3. It was even stated by GameSpot...(wow)...so why?? Why keep on bashing it??? Let's go and bash the 360...or better yet...the Wii! Wii deservs all the bashing it can get....95% medicore games or wors!

And yea....I do love the Playstation.....since 1997 I've been playing on Playstation consoles....I grown attached to it.

Always-Honest

do you also read other reviews?... cause it lookes like you just want to read the positive parts... sorry, not to bash. Again, this is about the game disc,.. not the PS3...

And why do you want to bash other systems... you are just as worse...

In any other topic it would be said that gamespot's review is all that counts, and it is in this topic aswell. Gamespot's word is final, no other reviewer has any credibility in these system wars on GAMESPOT. Since gamespot says PS3 has a better Framerate, IT DOES INDEED have a better framerate, gamespot's reviews on gamespot's forums.

OFC, fanboys will do that.

TBH, from what i'm hearing on gaming sites, and on ubis forums. THe PS3 is experiencing screen tearing and alot of glitchs. The 360 is having mild glitchs accustomed to usual games. If you search any game vids on google you'll find glitchs. Unfortunatly fanboys are trying to bash a game as usual which is a shame since it's a great game on both consoles.

Still hopefully ubi will get this patch out so we can all get back to enjoying it. And quit all this whining about which version is better.

u call us blind fanboys? I have never seen a cow admit that a 360 game is superior, oh and gamespot never said that the ps3 version was better, heres proof

There are few differences between the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions. PS3 owners are blessed with a slightly more solid frame rate, although the 360 version features a little more contrast in the lighting, so it's pretty much a wash.

Quote from the review,

They says its equal but i suppose you really could say that the 360 version is superior to the ps3 because of the lighting, Oops i ust took that out of context like every post you have posted in this thread.

I was near the end of Ac (360 version) when I encountered the mother of all glitches. I fell through the level to my doom, but when the game reloaded there were two Altair's. And they both followed my commands simultaneously. It was kinda annoying the first time. I'd leave one Altair stuck in a corner and take the othe rone off to get down to business, but then when I got into a fight the camera flew back to the other Altair and left my other guy to get butchered, resulting in a desync and a restart. However once I worked out ways to keep the two together I became an unstoppable force. I was mowing down knight by the dozens in under a minute. And these are the pretty smart endgame knights that can counter, and guard break. It was a pretty fun glitch to play with, but thats still no excuse for sloppy programming.

I have the 360 version and I have yet to see any problems with screen tearing.

Im probaly gonna trade it in tomorrow. I can probaly get 33 or 35 for it. So that means I have to pay the other 30. I did notice Screen tearing, but only in Cutscenes where you can manipulate the camera. Also, PS3 version looks washed out. Im jsut gonna buy 360 versions of Multiplats from now on untill its confirmed without a shadow of a doubt its the same or better than the 360 version. Best to play it safe.

[QUOTE="x-2tha-z"][QUOTE="highlander0659"]There's no problem with my PS3 version of the game. No screen tearing or freezing. You probably just got a defrctive copy of the game. highlander0659

Yeah, must be. Ubisoft like me so much that they're making a patch just for me. The patch that they're making right now is because I'm having these problem, no-one else in the world. Ubisoft must really like me.

Lets just put it this way. Me, my 60gig PS3, and my specific copy of Assassin's Creed are having no problems to speak of.

My man I second that LoL I have a 60GB PS3 and bought Assassins Creed for it and I've had no problems at all and I just spent the past 2 nights beating the game. I don't doubt people have had problems with it though so who knows maybe I just got lucky.

By the way I'm reading about all these problems on Samsung Displays if I was to hook the Ps3/360 up to my Samsung LCD PC monitor using the HDMI/DVI connection do you think I'll see the screen tearing problems?

Its the Samsung Widescreen 22' LCD I wish I could give you a link but Firefox is gay and won't let me do it. lol

Heard where? In your own wee head? I've had no problem with my copy of AC and neither have any of my friends. I hope Ubi gets out a patch to fix this for PS3 owners because this is seriously a Must Play game. Go PS3 and 360 for having AC :D oh and go Wii for SMG *^^* See? We can all be friends :)

I have the PS3 version and i have experienced no screen tearing at all. The game did freeze on me once and i was only able to move the camera.

If anyone's wondering, my PS3 is hooked to a Sony 1080p SXRD by HDMI.

I bought the 360 version today and also kept the PS3 version so I could compare the two. The 360 version DOES have screen tearing although it is nowhere near as bad or happen as often as in the PS3 version. Those of you who said it doesn't are either lying or don't know what to look for. The 360 version locked up on me during one of the "Fast Forward Memory" load screens. The PS3 version has never locked up on me. As for graphics, I'd say the PS3 version looks better and the 360 version has better contrast between light and dark. I love playing AC on PS3 because it means I don't have to listen to the 360's "Jet Engine" fans in the background. I just wish it didn't have screen tearing like it does. Screen tearing is one thing I absolutely hate. The 360 versions tearing is much more manageable so I'm going to stick with the 360 version. I just hope it doesn't continue to freeze on loading screens. Thanks for everyones input. Everyone should buy Assassins Creed. Awesome game

Thanks. x-2tha-z

i have finished the main game and all side quests on 360 and i havent come across anyproblems, no screen tearing, no frmae drops, no locking up....it does have brief have a second freeze after an hour or 2...but its nothing coz its really brief...nothing to ruin the game....so yeh 360 doesnt have problems....at least mine doesnt

what you think about the game?

I've had a close eye on this game since I heard about it at E3 two years ago? Or so and well I can honestly say I was more then satisfied. I expected the ending to leave me saying "Whay?" Considering I knew it was a Trilogy but sigh.. It's such a good game, but thats my opinion.

It's new, It's solid, It's smooth. The AI has it's flaws but what can you expect when cities are overrun with people.

I bought the game at launch for 360 andI think the game is outstanding. I haven't encountered any lock ups or frame rate problems on the 360, but I have experienced some very slight screen tearing. Seems to be strictly limited to eavesdropping scnenes, and obviously isn't a problem if you don't pan (which you don't need to anyway). It's very minor and to be honest I only noticed it because I read about it in an interview. It is so slight, you almost have to be looking for it.

.well it's clearly wors.....way wors!!

Always-Honest

in what way??..i just keep reading about PS3 's freezing and framerate problems...

i agree on this: "It's a great machine and has loads of games".. but this is not about the machine, it's about the game on the disc...

Gamespot has said the 360 had worse framerate issues....
