Even the Playstation brand is the salvaged remains of a CD add-on for the SNES.

WiiCubeM1

True, but thats because Nintendo tried to screw them over on all the development cost after they turned it down. The result? Sony released the PS1 which utterly stomped the N64 into Oblivion.

They've kinda always been that kind of company when they entered the market. However, competition generally 'copies' each other. It's not a bad thing if it's done well.

they owned the 2 previous generations and they fumbled this gen and now they always been horrible? okay then

Chris_Williams
Well the PS1 was a "me too" idea taken from the SNES.... therefore the gaming portion of Sony has always been a 'me too' company.

Sony and Microsoft are copying Nintendo because they use controllers.

Nintendo copied Atari because Atari used a controller.

Atari copied computers because they use a power outlet.

Power outlets copied Benjamin Franklin because he discovered electricity.

Benjamin Franklin copied other people who read books because he had to read books to become as intelligent as he was.

Everyone copies everyone, and you can just go down the chain as far as you want.

[QUOTE="carljohnson3456"]Give me a break, Nintendo is the only original out of the big three. MS copies Nintendo as bad as Sony. Avatars = Mii. Kinect = Wii Mote. Mario1331

Oh give me a break. People forget that the EyeToy and Singstar on the PS2 brought demographics that usually wouldn't play games into our medium, justl ike the Wii

MS made a great online console experience that the other 2 are still struggling to defeat despite it's subscription fee.

how is the eye toy anything like the wiimote?

You'd have to be the worlds biggest sheep to deny the PS2's singstar games and Eyetoy's influence on the Wii.

The target demographic that EyeToy and Singstar brought was similair to what the Wii did. People who normally didn't play games started to play. Alternate control schemes, party based games etc.

Outside of gaming, Sony has always innovated and dominated throughout the late 70s-90s. Those that say otherwise are complete idiots who weren't even born during those times

It wasn't till the late 1990s-present they've taken a hit and have not pushed forward in innovations.

[QUOTE="Chris_Williams"][QUOTE="mems_1224"]yall must be stupid then because ive never had a disc scratched by a 360 or my ps3. Ps2 just did it on its own. Halfway through the gen and the blue discs were pretty much unplayable mems_1224
put a game in your 360, turn it on, while your in the game, pick up your 360 and sit it back down. You know damn well the 360 has a problem with scratching discs

why the f*** would anyone be stupid enough to pick up any console with a disc spinning in it? :|

Why not? Pretty much every Console that uses discs does not scratch the disc when you move it...apart from the 360.

For the most part, I think the people who complain about copying are just trolling for system wars like most, but I feel sorry for the people actually bothered by it.

Thats my thinking on the matter. You can never take away what Sony did the last two gens. This gen? Yea they messed up a lot but I love me some PS3 exclusives this gen.

Going their own way is part of the reason they're struggling now. They were trying to be Apple but didn't have the polish or ecosystem.

How is trying to be Apple "going their own way"? I think they're struggling now because they've been betting on the wrong horses and making bad investments. Like their TVs.

i said how is it SIMILAR, who the hell cares what influenced what, besides if were going back nintendo and the pc had motion control patents for a while way before PS2 but thats not what im even arguing. reading is fundamental....

The Walkman, Discman, Handycam, Trinitron and PS1 Sony was the best Sony. They have always been kinda oblivious towards usability in modern devices (bloatware and complicated processes) and their obsession with proprietary formats hurt them more than it did good.

Sony just never understood the markets after. TVs got behind, camcorders too, PS3 had a slow start, their cellphones were lackluster...

Dude, Sony in the 80's and 90's was like Apple today, minus the hipster smugness.
