I don't buy many games when they come out, just only my most anticipated ones. For others, i wait until the price is reasonable and/or i have enough to get it.
I'm already not buying games over 60$,PC\Wii ftw.MonsieurX

damn what part of canada you from? I just purchased MW 2 for 59.99 at BB it should come in the mail tomorrow. Its strange though because all the previous games are still 69.99 but most new ones are 59.99.Rza_rectah

If the price got any higher, I wouldn't even buy new for my favorite franchises. I would buy completely used. Right now, I shell out 60 bucks on rare occasions, so if it went higher, it just wouldn't happen. But like I said, I'd still buy games. A price increase is no reason to stop buying games all together. Just find cheaper ways to buy them.
So now 360/ps3 games are pretty much 70-80$ here in Canada with tax and all that, for me its pretty much borderline now, I will only get games I am really hyping. Big titles like FF13, etc. But when will you stop buying games all together, or at least buy very very little?
I think the big theme next gen should not be hardware improvement, and should be cost reduction. Nintendo already saw this coming and stood back and let the Wii be cheaper than the rest, and its payed off big time.

I live in Canada too and feel the same way. $69.99 + 12% tax = about $78 per game. That's too much.
And it's only happened over the last year or so. I was ok with $60, but still had a bit of a hard time swallowing that. Then out of no where we get hit over the head with a $10 per title incease? What the hell man? I demand an explanation. I've been so curious as to why this came out of nowhere.
It can't be the exchange rate because we're almost at par with the American dollar. So what is it?
Are we paying extra for thefriggin french instructions that everybody wipes their ass's with and throws in the trash anyway?
If that's the case then I'd be pretty pissed. Let's face it: NOBODY needs the french instructions.
I won't spend over $60. I refuse to buy any of that Limited Edition, exclusive crap like the DJ Hero Collectors Edition.$200 for a game?!! No thanks. It also gets me a little upset when a game comes out and not too soon after, DLC is released for some additional $$. I know some people will say its to expand upon the game, and if you don't like it don't buy it. Some games, if you purchase all the DLC, you end up spending close to $80. Big business I guess.

If the quality kept climbing while the price did, the sky's the limit. I wouldn't buy many, but I'd still buy some.
Actually, it was at $70 again around the time the 360 came out. Then it went down to $60 after the dollar crawled up over $1.00 USD and then when the recession hit and it dropped to about $0.75, they again went back up to $70.
What it has to do is with the exchange rate and what retailers have to make on returns when getting stock from the US. However, now that the exchange rate is almost equal, they should be going back down to $60 again... but they aren't. The main reason? It's almost Christmas, and that extra $10 on each game sold means tons of profit.
It ****ing sucks, but we can't do anything about it. Even going down to the US involves paying duty at the border.foxhound_fox
That does make sense. See, I figured it was based on exchange, but what threw me off is that we're just as high as we were before but the prices are still sky-high.
But the christmas hypothesis of yours definately made my ears perk up. I just hope they do the honest thing and bring it back down to $60 soon.
If they think they're increasing profits by jacking the price by $10, they're wrong. I've bought probably less than half the amount of games over the last year than I normally would have.
I'm very deep into gaming but 60 is my limit. Why is 60 not an option on the poll?
I'd think it's a very common limit.
60$ is already pushing it, but I wouldn't be surprised if it jumped 10$ next gen... That seems to be the trend with the last few generations
£40 is about my limit. i did just pay £50 for the Forza 3 special edition but il be playing that game for years so its WELL worth it imo. the SNES/N64 just to have the most expensive games ive ever come across, but i guess that was due to the cost of the cartridges. i remember paying £69 for street fighter 2
