What powers the graphics for Wii, Xbox 360 & PS3? Either an ATi or nVidia GPU.
Microsoft: ATi
Nintendo: ATi
Sony: nVidia
I think ATi are the real winners the gen for consoles, i know ppl bash ATi in favor of nVidia for pc graphics cards, but how many of these ppl own xbox 360's?
everyone knows 360 has the best GPU in a console, where as ps3 has the best CPU, but really when u play games im pretty sure the GRAPHICS processing unit has a larger factor than the cpu for games.
I know from experience: 3 years ago i had a top of the line 3.0Ghz Intel pentium 4 hyperthreading CPU and a weak official brand ATi x800 card which was a bit dated even then at the time, My friend had a single core 1.8Ghz amd processor but still managed to pull off oblivion smoothly on high settings because he had the latest nVidia Geforce card of the day, Howcome I was struggling on low/medium settings for oblivion while my friend with nearly half the cpu speed could pull off better quality and higher framerates? BECAUSE IT WAS THE GPU!
The GPU does processing independent of the processor as well, some believe it's th cpu crunching the numbers and the gpu just interpreting them, no, not at all, the cpu does send instructions for the gpu, but also crunches all the numbers and processes a vast amount of the processing for 3d applications.
I'd have a better gpu than cpu any day.
