This is the first attack of the mods thread to showcase some mods from the PC version of multiplat games to show what consolites are missing out on.
In this thread, it is all about Oblivion mods and feel free to post some that you find, but I'll get it started

Midas Magic of Aurum

Description: This mod adds over 290 new and unique spell types. It adds beam, spray and projectile attacks. Turn bodies to gold, summon your own magic carpet, or dwemer transformer, or protect yourself with a ring of fire. This mod has several goals...

- Extend the Magic system of Oblivion without disturbing the current spell system
- Maintain the balance of the combat system
- Add a completely different way to obtain these spells from the normal system
- Add exciting quests and new worlds that make obtaining these spells fun

Link: http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=9562

Deadly Reflex

Description: Deadly Reflex - Combat Moves is combat enhacing mod for Oblivion, which adds new dimension, tactics and violent action to the Oblivion Combat by adding new combat moves for both the Player AND the NPCs.

Version 5 is a total rewrite with enchanced NPC interactions, new total STABILITY, determistic stat based success system and of course, new moves, finishers and blood system with upgrades like new animations to older features.

Link: http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=8273

MALEVOLENT

Description: Malevolent is a complex, multi-pathed, story-driven quest MOD revolving around the Player's relationship (be it good or bad) with a sentient suit of armour called "The Armour of Malevolence." The Armour himself is a charismatic, manipulative and deceptive personality who likes to consider himself "Articulate Evil" and -after the Player dons the Armour for the first time- decides to invade a quiet corner of the Player's mind and call it his home. The story that evolves from that point changes depending on the relationship the player has with the Armour, and whether or not you choose to resist the Armour's whims, or submit to them (or any combination of the two.)

Link: http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=17781

Qarls Texture Pack 3

Description:
* Most textures are 4 times the size of the originals. Some, even more. This makes things seem much clearer and sharper in-game.
* A large number of meshes have been altered to take advantage of the game engine's parallax shader.
* Only parts of the mesh which NEED parallaxing have the parallax flag enabled. This removes unwanted artifacts parallaxing can cause around corners.
* Textures which use the parallax shader have been altered at the mipmap level so that things look very 3D from a distance but do not get the soupy artifacts associated with the parallax effect when viewed close-up.
* Advanced normal map techniques used to make landscape textures seem very 3D.
* Landscape color maps and normal maps edited at the mipmap level to reduce the tiling effect in the distance.
* Mesh fixes from the Unofficial Oblivion Patch are included.

Now go, post your own and i'll post more soon.

I don't know if you should attack the Mods, you could get banned if you aren't careful.

That picture up there with a Rainbow shooting from a Mod is funny, but becareful, because the mods might not like being associated with Rainbows, if you know what I mean.

Good luck with your campaign.

A combination of mods. The main ones are Ren's Beauty Pack which includes a new custom race Mystic Elf and adds ~19 hair sty.les (for all races) and HGEC female body replacer.

*really? sty.le is a filtered word on this website?

Ok, here's some more:

Unecessary Violence

Description:Welcome to Unnecessary Violence. This mod sets a new bar for oblivion's combat system. It offers true dual wielding with any weapon from vanilla or any mod, throwing objects (literally any object) and throwing people (judo ****, the ability to change your grip on a weapon, the ability to kick in combat, melee with bows and staffs, hand to hand attacks with your weapon sheathed, exploding potions, soul gems that show and can release the spirits of what you trapped, the ability to manufacture weapon duplicates, taunting, the ability to sheath OH weapons on your back, fumbling, location damage, unique locational injuries and effects, the ability to knock opponents unconscious and tons more.

At any given time you can now perform twenty four different melee attacks instead of the vanilla six, each with a different animation and different possible effects. But beware, you're not the only one with new abilities. NPCs have access to all the moves you do as well as the ability to dodge, counter and block your attacks. You will have to think strategically, as different moves do different things and have different associated risks. Hit location is as important to you as it is to your opponent.

All this is done without in any way touching the vanilla combat system, because UV provides its own combat engine - meaning you can use it alongside any other one of the great combat mods out there. This is a very different kind of mod, with a strong emphasis on compatibility and general applicability.

Combat in oblivion will never be the same again.

Unique Landscapes Complination

Description: A compliantion of all the unique landscapes mods.

Link: http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=19370

FCOM Convergence

Description: FCOM: Convergence shatters previous barriers in the Oblivion mod community by letting you play four of the largest Oblivion "overhaul" mods at the same time -- Oscuro's Oblivion Overhaul, Martigen's Monster Mod, Oblivion WarCry, and Francesco's Leveled Creatures-Items. It also seeks to show how new item and/or creature expansion mods can be added directly to this environment, and thus includes direct support for Bob's Armory, Loth's Blunt Weapons, Cobl, Tamrielic Ingredients, Knights of the Nine, and many other popular mods.

FCOM provides complete unification of MMM and OOO. It brings all of the numerous new creatures, NPCs, and items added by those mods into a consistent and balanced structure. It also integrates Francesco's vast collection of items and named NPC bosses, as well as items and creatures from WarCry.

To make all these great mods work together, FCOM provides a common infrastructure for a series of patches, rebalancers, and relevelers that work with the Bashed Patch feature of Wrye Bash. FCOM also provides many other compatibility patches for a wide range of other popular mods.

Link: http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=12249

Hilarity

Description: This is a mod that adds a bunch of hilarious spells to amuse the player. Spells to create a riot, to make someone eat a poisoned apple, to give someone the urge to hunt for Calipers, and of course, a spell to drop a ton of boulders on the targets head, and many more.

A well modded oblivion or morrowind is a game with much more replayability, especially if you add in extra creatures, random spells which are funny the possibilites are endless, you just need to tailor the mod's you download to your taste.

On that has anyone tried making a VATS system for Morrowind or Oblivion, cause that could be fun in the imperial city xD.

Was there a mod that gave you a flying mount, anyone recall the name? I'd like to try that. But tbh I thought Oblivion was pretty poor even with mods, it's just not very immersive, horrible dialogue and voice acting, bad story line, sucky hell dimensions, most boring NPCs ever created and so on ..I don't think any amount of mods can save it, you can't polish a turd.

Ask and you shall receive

Akatosh Mount by SaidenStorm

Featuring

1) New Animations for ground travel with semi-folded wings to allow better views.

2) New AI Commands
- Summon, Summon your prefered Drake to your side.
- Follow, Your Drake will follow you anywhere he can normally go.
- Stay, Your Drake will stay in the area you told him to.
- Calm, De-Aggro your drake for 20 seconds he will not attack anything
- Rest, Your Drake will lay down and rest his health back - Stay's until you "Wake" him.
- Wake, To wake you Drake from "Rest" State.
- Saddlebags, A container assigned to all the Drake's for storage.
- Return Home, Your Drake will return to his home worldspace.

3) Rest Command - Drake becomes destroyed so you cant mount or even interact with him while he is resting, this is nessessary, because if you try to mount him while he is resting bad things happen.

4) Saddlebags - You must be within 150 units of your drake for this command to function.

5) All 5 Drakes are now supported in the package, no need to toy with the textures

6) All 5 Drakes now support custom particle systems I created them to be interchangeable within the animations so I can easily alter any one I need to or add or remove systems at will with just a re-export of the calling animation.

7) Akatosh models will for now on, until I give each one a real name, be named Fire Drake, Frost Drake, Shadow Drake, Earth Drake, Storm Drake. Graded Cheese Drake not supported. :)

8) Updated skin info yet again to help support the new animations better.

9) There has been some confusion concerning when they die - they respawn in 3 game days time - they do not respawn at thier spawn point they respawn where they died !!! they are persistant and there for do not have a spawn point to respawn at. you can ofcourse call any of them to you, even if they are dead the move to the player still works thier corpse will get moved to your location.

If one dies you can just change to a different Drake until the dead one re-spawns and is ready for use again. I tested this within an oblivion gate killed 3 of the 5 dragons summoned the 4th left him there then finished the place off. On the Outside I was able to call any of the Drakes I wanted to the dead ones just dropped on me still dead :) and the living ones were good to go.

And guys, this thread isn't to debate about Oblivion, it's all about the mods you can get for the PC version and to rub it in the face of consolites.

Ok, then and i'll post more :)

Oscuro's Oblivion Overhaul 1.33-final release

Description: Oscuro's Oblivion Overhaul aims to make Oblivion a much more interesting, challenging, realistic and dangerous place, and also offers great rewards for the daring adventurer regardless of your level.

You must be prepared to cast aside your previous notions about Cyrodiil. The world no longer revolves around you, the player. Do not expect to be able to beat every monster or NPC you meet. Previously familiar areas may now be much more dangerous and you will frequently be forced to retreat from enemies who are too powerful to beat until you are stronger. You will probably die a lot more often now. However, if you have the ingenuity, skill, and luck to survive the odds stacked against you then you will be justly rewarded for your bravery!

Link: http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=15256

Darnified UI

Description: This mod gives the Oblivion UI the most extensive facelift yet. It's goal is to rid the pc version of the horrid xbox interface. Fonts are smaller, settings can be adjusted in game, user controls are scaled, more info on screen, and the hud is vastly improved.

So most of the mods i've seen beyond making the game unplayable on my current laptop and pc...what do they offer? oh thats it? about the only mods worthwhile is quests and new stories other then that the texture mods seem to mean one thing if i use them then the game that barely manages to play on medium on my desktop wont even play on low settings.....and my laptop as it is only plays it at low settings...

Hermits can be proud of mods when a few things are a fact
1.installing a mod takes 5 seconds and requires no knowledge EVER of how to use a computer beyond point and click.
2.The mod will not change the system requirements.
3.99% of mods don't suck.

Describe some of the mods you've used in the past, and for which games.

Why is this ridiculous requirement even on here?

If you don't know to use a computer beyond pointing and clicking, and you only have 5 minutes spare, not only are you not suited to PC gaming, you're not suited to console gaming.

My 360 updated a few games I played the other day, which took longer than 5 seconds to install, and required more know-how than point and click.

Does that mean Lemmings can no longer be proud of their console?

2.The mod will not change the system requirements.WilliamRLBaker

Yes, many do. Have you not noticed the ones which give you increased power over graphical options?

3.99% of mods don't suck.WilliamRLBaker

86% of statistics are totally false.

1. Most people would rather spend a few minutes reading instructions on a free mod than having to pay for dlc. I could probably install one of these mods quicker than I could enter credit card info with a controller to buy 500 points for a 400 point dlc.

2. Imagine your favorite last gen game with updated graphics that runs well on your current gen system. I can think of a ton of old games that I'd like to see get graphical overhauls.

3. The percentage isnt that high. Word of mouth and sites with ratings and number of downloads sorting makes it easy to find good mods.
