Why nawt? I doubt this is the absolute best the Wii can do. Even if itonly looks slightly worse. It'd be a big improvement. :3

No excuses for PS2 quality graphics when we can have something like Galaxy. Game looks amazing.

you shouldnt say that with a no more heroes sig ;)

You got me there.

True that No More Heroes don't look very impressive on a technical level but it's art makes up for it atleast. So yeah it would've been great if it looked better but considering it's a sandbox kind of game, I think it looks fine.

I still maintain what I said in my previous post. Some of the stuff we've seen on Wii looks like early ps2 games and some even almost goes into Dreamcast territory which is just wrong.

The textures are some of the best I've ever seen, especially on Captain Olimar's ship. While this game looks incredible, isn't only 6 worlds a little bit to small? I mean Mario 64 had what, 20 levels or something alog those lines?

That's what I call pulling a "Sonic 3" move...

Either way, it doesn't take away from the fact that this shoots down some arguments involving the Wii's graphical capabilities.

Well if there are 120 stars that would 20 stars perwortld and so far every star seems to have it's own planet so that would be quite a bit of content in the game.:)

I don't get that. Are you saying that SM64 was one world as a whole, with only 15 levels?

By the way, I'm not trying to bash the game.

Well I guess you could call it that. Though I thought of the castle as a hub area, and the portals lead you to other "worlds".

Worlds = levels, I think.

anyway, gonintendo.com has translated info from the mag.....

- 6 worlds, 120 stars reconfirmed, multiple planets in each world

- Planets of water, ice, sand, and more

- Planet size varies wildly, as we have seen

- Bee Mario has the ability to use his stinger

- Boo Mario will be left alone by other boos

- The "butt stomp" has returned. You can see it about to happen in the second scan

- As we've seen, the multi-colored stars will gain you an extra man if you collect 100. They can also be used for special attacks other than shooting them.

Only 6 worlds?  I'm a bit let down.  I know Sunshine only had about 6 but Mario 64 seemed like it had 30 or more.

Do you guys think we will see even prettier games down the road or is this the Wii's limit?

I still remember the first time I laid eyes on Mario 64, when it was demo'ing at a Best Buy back in like 1996. I've never been more impressed and amazed with a game at first sight than it. I was seriously awe-struck. I was like 12, but still.Zeliard9
Dude, I remember that day too! I was at a demo station in some Toy Store, and was also around 12 or 13. I remember seeing it and thinking about how it looked like you could get lost in it's 3D world and getting so excited I was about to piss my pants at the thought of that.

There might be only six worlds but there is also like 20 huge planets in each world and how many smaller planets, also Sunshine only had8 worlds but there where 8 Acts to all but the last World, the last world only had one act.

i going to guess that mario galaxy been in work since a year, if i remember. right now we dont know the status of the game, if its finished or not, but im sure its been in development for about a year and some months now, kind of similar to metroid prime corruption. i know for sure that what we've seen of galaxy in 2006 was basically running on gamecube dev kits. maybe they've carried what they developed so far of galaxy on the gamecube over to wii dev kit, or build the game from the ground up on the wii dev kit.

personally speaking... i would say its build from the wii dev kit, but i could be wrong. i remember the wii dev kit being finalized around september 2006, so chances are they carried the project over to the wii kit. god knows how long this game been in development, but one thing for sure is that, to get the best out of a wii game, it would take 1 year development time.

games like farcry, splinter cell, spiderman, even red steel on the wii didnt go through the 1 year development process.

Maybe the worlds are just really big

Quality over quantity

TheOneMan

That's what I call pulling a "Sonic 3" move...

Either way, it doesn't take away from the fact that this shoots down some arguments involving the Wii's graphical capabilities.

I remember gears360 claiming that it was weaker than the dreamcast

Don't get my hopes up that high.

its coming from nintendo, why shouldnt he?

anyway, gonintendo.com has translated info from the mag.....

There might be only six worlds but there is also like 20 huge planets in each world and how many smaller planets, also Sunshine only had8 worlds but there where 8 Acts to all but the last World, the last world only had one act.

But I was really into the nuber of worlds in Mario 64.  There was so much variety.  Underwater levels, flying levels, they had everything!  Hopefully those 6 worlds will stay interesting.  Mario 64 really benefited from the number of levels.  Maybe I wasn't as into Sunshine's levels.  Hopefully Galaxy's will be large and interesting.

Graphics are really good for a wii. Too bad devs don't exploit its hardware a bit more.
