^ Topic. In your own opinion what videogame titles had to havean awfulstory line?

Here is my list:

 1. Rascal (PSX)
 2. Star Ocean 3 (PS2)
 3. Final Fantasy X (PS2) it had a great sound track though
 4. Final Fantasy X-2 (PS2) pretty sweet ATB based Battle system though
 5. Grandia 3 (PS2)
 6. Minority Report (PS2)
 7. Final Fantasy 5 (SNES)
 8. Final Fantasy 3 (I'm not talking about the US version of FF6. Original and DS remake)
 9. Every Tales of title I have got to play
 10. Niga Gaiden 1 & 2
 11. Halo 1 & 2 (never played PT.3)
 12. Soul Calibur 4 (I love the game but the story is really bad)
 13. Street Fighter 4 (same as SC4)

Thats all I can think of at the moment

I hated Bioshocks storyline.

Condemened 2's story line sucked compared to Condemned 1.

FF12's was lame.

Mirror's Edge sucks as well.

Can't think of anymore right now.

I loved GeoW2, I have 1125 Gamerscore in it, but I thought the story was pretty dumb.

Giant Worms sinking cities, Helicopter rescue ending sequence AGAIN, the DOM Wife storyline...but, I loved the gameplay.

Perfect Dark Zero, I had to replay the campaign more than once to get the plot. Plus we don't really know much about Joanna Dark even though it's a prequel.

Dark Sector had a pretty bad story. The game was a lot of fun but I never really knew why I was doing anything or even where I was going.

1) Gears 2 - The Gears were BA during gameplay, and then softies during a cutscene. They should have added a "hug" melee attack. Lame. 2) Far Cry 2 - this is a game that should NOT let you decide what events happen, too much freedom given to the player, there's no emotional drive. 3) Silent Hill 3 and 4 - I loved playing through 2, but I found 3 and 4 to be very boring. Played both for about an 2-4 hours, then took em back to the store. 4) Metal Gear Solid 2 and 4 - I love the MGS series, but I still pray for the day where I totally understand what the heck happened! 5) GTA Series - GTA is some fun stuff, but basically every GTA starts and ends the same way. Small time guy turns into juggernaut mob king. No surprises here.

I thought SH 3&4 had really good stories, though they were a little slow to start. SH3 was a great continuation of the cult story from SH1 and SH4 had a unique serial killer angle running through it. You just had to persevere with them a little ;).

SH2's was definitely the best though, if only because of the huge amount of symbolism. SH3's was good too. SH4's... was good until the last hour or so, if you ask me. The whole thing with
the multiple versions of Walter, Eileen being possessed, the ghosts, etc.
kinda bugged me. It just didn't feel right in a Silent Hill game (and yes I realize SH4 was originally not supposed to be a SH game). But eh, whatever. They're both better than Homecoming. At least SH3 and SH4 didn't noncanonically throw in Pyramid Head as fan service :|

I know I'm going to be hated by the fanboys, but Halo (1 and 3) and Gears 1 (still haven't played the second one) had pretty lame story lines.

It's impossible to connect with the main character (was Dominic his name?), and in Halo... horrible ripoff of Samus.

I could never swallow the characters on those games... I respect the ones who like them though.

Yeah Homecoming felt like it was going through the motions a little. I still liked Homecoming's story and it did have some pretty cool ideas
like the idea of a splinter religion of The Order and that the cult was kidnapping people to perform ritual sacrifices
but as you said, there was too much unnecessary fan service. It felt like an extended piece of fan fiction at times but I suppose that's what you get when you hand over your creation to another development team.

Crappy characters, crappy storytelling, and one of the worst endings in a game ever.

But good thing that the gameplay was...

At the very least, it isn't considered canon, or so I would assume. On the subject of SH4 though, I will say the endings amused me. They were basically "Great", "Good", "Okay", and "Jesus christ you screwed up"

I hated that you could get all the endings just by reloading from the final savepoint and completing the specific tasks just before the final boss. In SH2 it was absolutely required to start the game over to get a different ending. I actually thought the "Jesus Christ you screwed up" one was the most interesting :P, all the others were fairly bland and cliche.

The other three were basically the same its all this:
Great ending: Eileen lives, Walter gets pwned, the apartment is cleansed. everyone is happy. Woo hoo. Good Ending: Eileen lives, Walter gets pwned, the apartment is haunted, but everyone is still happy anyway. Woo hoo Okay Ending: Eileen gets obliterated, Walter gets pwned, the apartment is cleansed. The world is safe, but Henry is teh sad. Oh well. You Messed Up Ending: Eileen got ground up, Walter completes the 21 Sacraments, Henry dies, the apartment is still haunted, and Walter is immortal. God damn, you really screwed up good.
But yes, SH2 was the best for endings. I almost cried when I got the "In Water" ending. Almost.

...what?

A bounty hunter killing off nearly an entire species against space pirates versus a bio-enhanced human fighting in the human race's survival. Yeah, I can see Halo was a huge rip-off of Samus. /sarcasm.

As for my own, Gears 2 tops the list. Epic just added in random crap to justify a sequal rather than actually really build on those elements already in the game. however, the part with Dom and Maria was just golden though.

Just because it's fresh in my mind, KZ2 has some of the worst writing I've seen in any medium. Gears 2 was slightly better, but only slightly. Mostly because it was actually laugh inducing, and some of the characters were funny.

Super Mario Galaxy never had much of a story, but then again, it's one of those games where it can get away with a story being non-factor.

Vice City was much better, especially with the ability to buy property/businesses. I still argue that each GTA starts and ends in nearly the same manner.

Drawing from recent memory, Fallout 3 has an intriguing general premise, but its main plot is disappointing, and has one of the worst endings you could have for that type of game since, well, it ends.

Assassins Creed and Left 4 Dead. I know Left 4 Dead isn't really suppose to have a story, but in the only cutsceneBill says something like "They're changing" and then its leftblank. It could have had a really epic storyline is all I'm gettingat...

MGS 1 -4 (Convoluted melodramatic borefest with terrible characters and dragged out cutscenes) Gears Of war series. "A giant snake is sinking the cities" If that is the best epic's writing team can do then  Perfect dark 0 - Wtf was that ??

Dark Sector had a pretty bad story. The game was a lot of fun but I never really knew why I was doing anything or even where I was going.
Shadow of the Colossus. I mean all you do is run around an empty place and stab some giant rock beasts that just wanted to live in peace. talk about drab.Silent-Hal
Wow. Did you even play the game to the end?

The man is a master comedian, you need to check your sarcasm detector.

On topic: Chaos Wars has a terrible story and just laughable voice acting.
