Awful story line in a videogame?

I'd also like to add saying that all videogames have horrible story lines is wrong. A story doesnt have to be super deep or complex to be good.Heavenly Sword , God of War, and Heavenly Sword all have great stories but they are fairly shallow

It wasn't that bad. The story was just slow at first, but I still enjoy it.

Heavenly Sword had a great story, but it wasn't that shallow either. There are stories that are much more shallow than that. It was just short, that's all. I just replayed it recently, I love it. Think this is my third playthrough.

Agree, i mean, i love Tales of Symphonia, but the story is far from good, IMO where Colette loose her voice is when the good plot ends, because that's when you say, ohhhhh, i know were this going, and later they fail to make an interesting twist here and there, but overall is decent.

Lame, dull, emotionless characters, an uninteresting plot that never seemed to go anywhere and 3 horrible, abrupt endings that were all basically the same thing.

The Halo series has some of the worst, most pretentious stories I've ever experienced in any entertainment medium. It's a decent series but the story is miles worse than Gears, it's just a mess. The universe as a whole is awful and feels like a rip-off of just about every cliched thing in a Sci-Fi flick or game (someone implied a male version of Samus in a post previously).

Halo 1 was a great game with a decent story, it was confined to a single conflict on the ring Halo and did pretty well. I liked the whole 'one-man army' thing which had a great sense of closure at the end. Halo 2, on the other hand, broadened the series up far too much and promised us battles on Earth but after two missions we were back on a halo playing as a Covenant for some really weird reason. Shortly after we ended up having to take on a giant brute with a giant hammer on a strange platform thing followed by a huge spit-in-your-face cliffhanger. Halo 3... same thing, but even more confusing and more annoying.

Can we agree that every game's storyline sucks? They all have terrible B-movie at best script writing, with awful voice acting. MGS included.

Im sure those of you who know what is going on enjoyed it, but it was a HUUUGE drag to watch the long conversations when you have no idea what is going on.

I thought Mirror's Edge was pretty bad. They could have done such a better job because the concept itself is good.. Just the execution was incredibly pretentious... as is the theme song... as is everything in that game. Ignoring universal critical praise I didn't like MGS4's story either. Kojima tried to do too much and it all turned into a bloated mess. It was so over-the-top as well. Even by Kojima's standards. Weren't too big on the bosses either. In my eyes they were just lazy and they all followed the same formula: random emotion + snake beating them = "I'M SCARED. I DON'T WANT TO FEEL RANDOM EMOTIONANYMOREEEE".

Of the top of my head only storylines i liked this gen are the witcher,Assasins creed and force unleashed except for the endings as sombody already said!

most of the others are cliche already seen...in short they suck donkey balls

Ninja Gaiden 2, if you consider it a story and not an excuse to go around the world and kill stuff.

But their sp campaigns were so action packed that lack of story didnt really bother me and their online was/is amazing :)

1) Gears 2 - The Gears were BA during gameplay, and then softies during a cutscene. They should have added a "hug" melee attack. Lame. 2) Far Cry 2 - this is a game that should NOT let you decide what events happen, too much freedom given to the player, there's no emotional drive. 3) Silent Hill 3 and 4 - I loved playing through 2, but I found 3 and 4 to be very boring. Played both for about an 2-4 hours, then took em back to the store. 4) Metal Gear Solid 2 and 4 - I love the MGS series, but I still pray for the day where I totally understand what the heck happened! 5) GTA Series - GTA is some fun stuff, but basically every GTA starts and ends the same way. Small time guy turns into juggernaut mob king. No surprises here.Jrfanfreak88

It's not that hard to understand. :) I have to play them all twice to understand the story.

wow you people have some high standards when it comes to game stories. If you hate the stories found in Halo, mgs4, bioshock, half life etc. you might as well stop gaming, cause those are some of the only games to offer a decent game story. 99 % of all the games have a crappy story.

So far for me it's Fallout 3. I haven't played it since December, it's story is so stupid. CleanPlayer

I think it is totally out of touch with the other Fallouts but it has quite a good story imo. Beats Oblivion by a long chalk. Also, the characters were quite believable. I can't understand the hate tbh.

I found Halo 3's to be too silly. I mean, it might not be terrible, but it definitely didn't feel as serious as the first game's story.

I thought it was really good, but the actual delivery felt amateurish.

I'm just going to mention my most recent experience... As much as I love this game to death, Killzone 2's story was just weak. But then again, that is easily forgiven. I think anyone can forgive Killzone 2's storyline, because most of us just came for the pure FPS experience that it has to offer.

The campaign is epic, and very cinematic, though. But the story just wasn't really there.

The Ape Escape Series. I know it has it's fanbase, but the story was really....can't say the word here. :lol:

I hated Bioshocks storyline.

Condemened 2's story line sucked compared to Condemned 1.

FF12's was lame.

Mirror's Edge sucks as well.

youve got to be kidding Bioshock has probably one of the best storylines EVER

i wouldnt say ever but easily one of the best in a video game, let alone a flippen FPS. FPS games are about as deep as a puddle with a few exceptions like Half life.
