Just vote! my personal favourite was BC2 but they should keep the old 50.Cal sniper the auto one and they should make a map pack 4 which you can play some old maps on BC2 :)

I like BC1's story more (Yes i only played that game for SP, i realize i am the absolute minority) than BC2. I liked the humour of the first and didn't like the ultra serious tone of the second. So BC1 for me
I honestly prefered Bad Company 1, it emphasised on Rush only and had more (good)maps, yes BFBC2 did improve on BFBC1 in almost every way possible. But there is only 6 rush maps currently playable and to be frank they are getting old fast. I also personnally feel that M-coms in buildings that can be collasped is pretty cheap, sure these bases are always in the 1st or 2nd phase of the map, but the defending team cant do much to prevent a group of recons to spam mortar the building down. Only a few complaints for BFBC2 and some of them have already been addressed by the recent patch(blackhawks can now be tagged much more easily...phew), but again I have to emphasise, Rush is the only mode that matters in BFBC and there should be MORE than 5 rush maps at launch, DICE could have had more DLC coming later but please give us at least 8 maps to satisfy everyone first.
But to be fair to BFBC2, I was expecting much more from the sequel, hence the preference to BFBC1.
On the topic of single player though, storywise BFBC1 wins by a landslide due to the generic "save the world plot" in BFBC2, why the storyboard writers at DICE ditched the mercenary plot is beyond me. Both have an equally sub-par campaign but it has some moments of brilliance.
They're better and worse than each other in a bunch of ways, but I guess BC2 is mostly an improvement.
The biggest issue I have with it is the map situation. Only five out of eight maps available on release. Almost two months later and we're only at six. It's not like eight maps is a particularly high number to begin with.
And the heelacopters need a nerf already. Or they need to supply the attackers with some proper offensive capabilities. The mobile AA is basically the only real offensive you have against an attack chopper. Even if you do manage to nail it with a dart and send a rocket after it, that's not a guaranteed kill. After all that ****ing work to dart that mother****er and we finally do, and I lock on and fire and he just flies away to repair. God damn it.
And the knife... If the guy moves even an inch, you will miss. You'll get the animation and the sound and it'll look like you should have hit him and did, but he will turn around and shoot you in the face.
Where's my humour?

Bad Company 2 is a more polished game but for some reason i had more fun with the first one. Dont get me wrong, overall Bad Company 2 is my favourite mp game this gen but i loved the slower paced gameplay of the first and, while less detailed, i prefer the more open mp maps of the first one aswell.
Vehicles tend to be funneled down bottlenecks, valleys and narrow paths = tanks staying back and camping with an engineer gunner is the only real tactic, unless you wanna die. The first part of Arica is really the only place where you can properly attack with a tank and have real battles. Haven't played the new watchamacallit map much though. End of the Line and Harvest Day > all BC2 maps. And yes I agree, Nelson Bay is dumb.BC2 is better, but I really preferred the maps in the first one. They had some great vehicle combat and huge maps. I love Bad Company for the vehicles and the destruction and too often, the vehicles have no impact on the map, if they're there at all.

BC1 had actual sandbox levels where you could decide on different routes to take towards objectives and the vehicle placement was top notch, it allowed most maps to have multiple Tank on Tank battles and/or Heli on Heli battles. BC2 maps were designed with the COD muppet's general lack of intelligence and short attention span in mind. That's why the maps in BC2 are so short, linear and barely have any vehicles.Rockman999Yeah, that's pretty much spot on. Which is why you'll have people sitting next to stations with the alarms going off, but they make absolutely no effort to ever try to disarm it. Wouldn't want to hurt their K/D ratio.
I like the Rush maps in Bad Company 1 a lot better, but other than that Bad Company 2 is superior in every way.
I'll put my flame shield on, but I had more fun with the first! The campaign was more open, lengthy, and unique. The second ditched the open structure altogether in favor of a very linear campaign with the humor all but sucked out of it (save for random conversations that only popped up when I would stand around and wait for them).
As for multiplayer, I enjoyed the maps better in the first game, and my roommates and I played the game MUCH longer. Over a year solid. We already don't play the second anymore. It just feels overly similar I guess and we preferred the first game's map selection. Sorry everyone!!! :P

P.S. - Am I the only one who is wondering what happened to the GOLD?? How about the Legionare? It seemed sort of cheap to just rip the characters out of the story they already had and drop them in to the more generic one on BC2. Maybe it's just me though.

Yeah, I pretty much agree with all you posted, most notably the maps. There were a lot more maps in the first one that I enjoyed compared to only a few in the second one.
They shrunk the maps because they thought COD muppet's = all console gamers. The multiplayer in BFBC1 felt much more...free...
Not sure why, it felt more open.

I'm playing the PC, and helicopters generally get swatted out of the sky moments showing themselves, dart or no dart. The tracer dart buff from a few weeks ago just accelerated their demise to seconds after liftoff.
Bad company 1. I liked the single player much more than in it than the second(2nds single player was total garbage) And if I wanted a great multiplayer I'd play MW2, and MAG (which are slightly better than BC2's multiplayer)

I can't believe how wrong this sentence is.
Let me guess, you bought both MW2 map packs too?

The tracer dart buff from a few weeks ago just accelerated their demise to seconds after liftoff. Yeah I've heard the choppers are more timid on PC. On consoles they spin around you like a hurricane while throwing rockets and 30mm at you. Nearly impossible to hit with rockets and tracers if the pilot's decent. The mobile AA has a chance against it if it's placed strategically so the pilot can't circle, otherwise you might hurt it but you'll eventually get blown up. You kind of have to ambush it, but of course you can't hide since you get that big orange target box around you. I really don't understand why pilots get that visual aid/cheat.
But what really needs to be changed is the speed/maneuverability. Or add more AA weapons. I know there are flak cannons in the game but in Rush they don't exist for some reason. I guess because the attackers aren't supposed to sit and defend their base(?) Well, since the defenders get a friggin attack helicopter you kind of have to. You can't just ignore it. And on Port Valdez it doesn't help that it happens at that ridiculous bottleneck. Has got to be the most easily defendable spot in the entire game. A Bradley with an engineer gunner by itself is almost enough to hold back the entire enemy team.
As many said, pretty much everything has improved from BC1 to BC2. However, i feel that there were some really good maps in Bad Company 1, and a lot of them were bigger than the maps in BC2.
