If the game did the same thing as the past 2 banjo games, here would be the reactions.

1. The reviews would slam it

2. everyone will say RARE has lost its spark and call the game crap

Looks familiar? Yeah, PDZ. If RARE didn't change the game up they would be slammed from left and right, but they are now anyways. Truth: RARE hasn't made a bad game this generation, they know what they're doing.

banjo 3 will be different though .. i'm not keen on the artstyle, but the gameplay will hopefully be fun

If anything this is even worse than the wind waker incident when it comes to alienating their fanbase.

Well fans wanted another game. It's up to rare to decide how to make it innovative and exciting. A straight platformer would have been total pants and you know it.

A game can still be innovative while sticking to it's platforming roots. SMG for example was a pure platformer at heard, but innovated with it's trippy level designs.

EDIT: Though, even Sunshine was a platformer first and foremost, and everything else second.

What fanbase of Banjo Kazooie is everyone talking about? Lets look into this, the Banjo Kazooie games released 10 years ago on a nintendo system. The Banjo Kazooie franchise has been gone for a whole generation and the new one is being made on a microsoft console. All the Banjo fans or fanbase are the people who probably own wiis right now. Which makes this the perfect time to change the Banjo formula.

Yet everyone begs for them to bring it back. Banjo Kazooie will be just fine, but it will be different. Think of Banjo Kazooie as a new franchise now, because the old franchise died 10 years ago.

the only thing that worries me aboiut this game will be its length and variety.

How much levels could they fit into a game where the main mantra is "built a machine to accomplish this objective". How creative can they get with these objectives and how long before it gets old?

Well the way I look at it, Rare have stated they wanted to do this with Banjo in Tooie but the technology limited them. So really, Tooie was the spinoof and this is the definitive sequel. This is a proper Banjo game, stop QQing.
