OMG, lmao sorry lemmings but dang. Don't MS have any confidence in their games at all any more? I went and just saw that new odst trailer, and thats just funny, really. For the average joe blow that goes and watches that and buys the game and starts to play it to only see this, I would be upset.
And I mean highly upset!!!Norule04

You know what's funny, every cow here blames a part of Sony's lack of success on its failure of marketing. And yet, when it's clearly obvious MS's marketing is better, they fail to acknowledge that maybe gamers don't want to see commercials of in game footage, chances are they know what these top tier games look like. So what does MS do? They make commercials that get you excited, interested, and involved in the game's story right away. So far its worked with Halo 3, Gears 2, Fable 2 etc.. so my point? Don't praise trailers because they show in game footage and then turn around and use the excuse "sony doesnt market well", either it works or it doesn't, can't be both. DeadMagazinesyeah ur right about that, the ODST ad gets people pumped up and excited and most importantly curious about the game which is the main reason ads are made. Now take a look at Killzone 2 ad....wow that was horrible :(
You know, if commercials were so dead on ideas, and if those dead ideas always worked, no one would need a marketing team. Even if a game's trailer shows its gameplay, it's been edited for bigger impact, too, it's not exactly the real game. It's common sense that commercials are only worth it when it makes an impact bigger than its competitors, the way of showing a product CAN be different. How can you say that live action has no place, it's a brand new way of showing a product, and obviously its got the attention it wanted, which = success. Don't be so stubborn just because someone else came up with a brilliant idea first. You know what game teasers are for? They are for intriguing audiences, making them curious, and when a teaser is done well, people will be interested in the actual thing. Just look at Bad Company 2's teaser, it's awesome, does it show any gameplay? No. Did it make me want to look this game up? Yes. That is what Halo's commercial has done, and it's done a great job. Don't be jealous. I love it when a company actually puts thoughts into their marketing move, instead of just throwing product pieces together and put it in your face. Lazy effort, and its been done like a billion times, now what era are we in, do something innovative k?U2 trailer was better just because it actually showed the game. Live action has no place in a game trailer.
