yeah , you dissed one of the best game of this generation hands down. 94/100 metacritic // 10/10 Gamespot. ZERO mixed/negative reviews out of how many reviews ? This game will win many GOTY and Industry awards no doubt , we gonna count them in the end of the year ... and he you are , praising a TF2 clone with a Blizzard logo , defending missing modes and its price considering what is offering ... and dissing one of the best games of the year , let alone this generations.

I prefer to pay a full price for a game that will make me WoW and give me a jaw dropping experience than pay 60$ for a game that offers NOTHING new , NOTHING better and NOTHING that i havent seen before , specially vs similar F2P games. The boredom i had with it after 2 hours wont justify even 15$. So you pay for UC4 , i pay nothing for that game. Ill consider play it if it goes F2P and IF , i repeat , IF many of my friends decide to play with it under F2P model . Because literally noone liked it that much to pay 60$ and im talking about more than 10 in real life friends.

So you pay 60$ for a Multiplayer ARENA based game that lacks modes and maps let alone provides nothing new and let me pay 60$ for a 10/10 - 94/100 game that will make me shit my pants for 10 hours straight with its single player and have some fun with its multiplayer ( a god knows how many more hours ). You guys get really bummed out when someone doesn't like a game you intend on playing huh? UC4 will end up being an enjoyable experience. ND has done a good job with creating games that keep you wanting to know what happens next. TLOU is easily one of my favorite games and UC2 is also pretty awesome. However, if we know anything about Blizzard, it is that they will support Overwatch for years to come. I mean look at the disaster launch of Diablo 3. Yet a few years later and the game is still being updated. I feel Overwatch has a fair bit of content in its character selection and map variety. The game play is solid even if it lacks variety in game modes. I trust that blizzard will fix that with time. In other words, I bought both lol.

Although I guess this topic is suppose to be about Battleborn. I tried the beta and it felt like an FPS with the hit detection of TPS MOBA (Smite, Paragon). Complete turnoff sadly.

I believe Battleborne and Overwatch are the first 2 games to be in the MOBA FPS genre. The free games are birdseye view and made exclusively on PC (minus Smite which is 3rd person)

And by the looks of it, Overwatch isn't going to bomb.

Battleborn - Hybrid MOBA/FPS/Borderlands cross over with many ideas.

Overwatch - Blizzards spin on a FPS sub genre which only has 1 game from 9 years ago as its competitor ... full of interesting ideas and excellent art style.... and lasts more than 10 hours.

The game is being sold for a whopping 44 quid here, and does it have a sp? How many maps does it launch with? 3-6?

yeah. after reading a lot of reviews I'm starting to get the picture that this is the primary reason battleborn is getting so much hate when mechanically and content wise its a good game.

The art direction is a dividing line for a lot of people in comments I've read.

People that love borderlands think its great, people that dont often hate the game based primarily on how it looks since many havent even tried it. I've also seen a lot of people complaining they cant tell whats going on because of how 'colorful' it is. Not an issue for me and just seems like what someone that's not experienced with moba/arena combat games would say.

I dunno the more i play it the better it gets. the production and attention to detail with the gearbox humor is great. I just started noticing when you play thru the missions with different characters the dialogue changes based on group composition. Some heroes like each other some dont so their background chatter changes its pretty fun.

On PC you can actually get it for $40 off Blizzard's store. That's a large reason I even considered playing the beta to begin with honestly.

wELL , 40$ is still a high price for this game imho but better than 60$ ofc. With 40$ though you can have so many great games for PC thru sales etc . For PC standards 40$ is not that low of a price as it sounds.

Name me a single game that offers as a pack , everything UC4 does.

Apparel cinematic exprerience , overall technical and graphical detail out of this world , story like few , memorable characters like few , action scenes like no other game out there , animations top notch , physics top notch , blends gameplay elements like very few games do ( from stealth to shooting to puzzles to platforming etc not necessarily breakthrough but theres variety in there for its genre ) and the list goes on and on.

Add on all this its fun MP , not necessarily top notch but not bad either. And what else do you want from an Action/Adventure 3rd person shooter ? Theres literally nothing more to ask for.

Its for a reason why DF praising it and for a reason GS scored it 10/10 ( if you follow GS score ) , let alone stands at 94/100 on Metacritic with zero mixed review out of 80?! Whys that ? Then if its the game that once again will win many GOTY and industry awards like few others will this generation ( it will mark my words ) , whys that if its not one of a kind of a game ?

If this game is not one of a kind of experience ( by experience i mean the whole package ) like very few games out there overall , let alone for ITS GENRE and then OVERWATCH is that ... then i should say WHAT? instead.

So , im waiting to name me a single game this generation that can stand next to UC4 , that offers what UC4 does or more and then we can debate further. IF there isnt such game , then you got your answer to your "what?" question.

If you're ignorant to better story telling mediums, yeah I guess, but I don't exactly subscribe to "for a game" defense for mediocrity. The banter is fun, and the characters are mostly well executed in the Uncharted series, but it's fucking generic to anyone that's seen an adventure movie or read an adventure book before, and wildly outclassed in that department as well.

Additionally, it's a sequel. A prettier version of the previous 3 games with some adjustments made to its mechanics, and yes a "new" plot. This time they are exploring if Nate's adventurous lifestyle can be a bit destructive; oh wait that was basically the thematic point of his last outing.

Rather play Quake than Uncharted.

If thats mediocrity to you fine , to me and for all industry , media etc .. is a fantastic , one of a kind game. I didn't say the whole game was mediocre, but it's story? Yeah historically it's never been good, and yeah generic has always been an issue for Uncharted. Since its inception it's been a very derivative ip, shit The Last of Us is a generic ip. Naughty Dog isn't exactly a studio built innovation or creativity, their strengths are that they take a lot of existing concepts, and they just execute at a pretty high level. Which is what makes Uncharted 2 a blast to play, and The Last of Us terrific.

And as far as game critics gassing it up? They gas up a lot of shitty things, game critics have awful taste for stories, not the least of which is because they are gamers.

I strongly disagree because creativity wise they offered some of the most memorable moments in gaming and that counts as creativity to me . UC4 continue this trend and yes , they doing this in a unique fashion like no other game ... Theres literally no other game to do so in that fashion .

To be fair, we're playing a little fast and loose with "dies off", do these games last for years ala Counterstrike, no, but lots of games don't, and that has as much to do with sequels or the studio doing something new that is a comparable replacement. Otherwise I played UC2's mp a year after that game came out on and off, hell I was still able to get into consistent matches even for the run up for UC3. The Last of Us mp on PS4 still does reasonably well.

I'll agree that they aren't great multiplayer games, but they are for the most part well done and enjoyable. What they lack in skill ceiling they make up for in just being enjoyable for their simplicity, various modes, and an enjoyable set of mechanics (well UC2 in the context of that multiplayer, UC3's mp was butthole). In the case of the Last of Us, that mp had the benefit of actually not playing like every other third person shooter/console shooter mp. It's mechanics forced more teams to cooperate, and that makes it pretty enjoyable.

The twitch stream rankings are about as lame as gassing up something for its metascore.

Battleborn may be my favorite pvp game this Gen, I have uncharted 4 but I haven't even gotten around to playing it yet. Community for the game is decent too so people like joining others and having the option to play tough pve content after tense pvp matches. I may go for this games platinum :o

Really well said and true. None of us need to play a game because critics love it or it has a high meta/GS score. That said, U4 is my most anticipated this year, I am very happy for the devs that they received the praise they did. Let's be honest. Who doesnt want to be recognized for their work in the entertainment field?
