[QUOTE="Badosh"]Let the milkage begin!Stevo_the_gamerThe milkage of Battlefield started long ago, don't be a twit.
More or less what he said.
There hasn't been an outright bad Battlefield game either and all of them have had some significant changes over predecessors.
Since it looks like a winter 2013 launch and that DICE has said that the Frostbite 2 engine was built for the next gen, maybe we'll see it on the next gen consoles instead? I guess that will depend on Sony and Microsoft.
I would prefer a 2014 release to make sure that both Sony and Microsoft have their next gen consoles out so that BF4 doesn't have to be scaled down for 24 players again. That was probably the biggest factor in terms of design. I know that they'll never have 100% massive maps again because of how popular the smaller maps were in BF3, but things like squad size, squad communication tools, and even a commander mode all cut because they had to build the game with 24 players in mind.
I have no problem with a new game every 2 years. Why bother beating around the bush and taking 5 years for a sequel when development teams are massive now and they can pump out quality games in half the time they used to be able to.

I agree..
if the BETA is available towards the end of 2013 then the game will probably be released early 2014, so as long as DICE will make sure they release an AAA title and futher improve the game I'll be more than happy to buy BF4..

I think Battlefield 3 is as streamlined as the series is going to go. It's by far the most selling Battlefield game to date. They have no reason to change the formula any more to try to expand the audience. They were successful in that. If anything, I can see them improving on stuff that was lacking BF3. I know it will launch in a better state than BF3 becuase the engine will be much more mature and they've learned a lot from their current audience.
One can only be hopeful that it is on the next gen console and they drop that silly 24 player limit. At the least, I want every map to be design with 64 players in mind. Maps like Sharaqi and Back to Karkand prove that you can have urban experiances without all of the obvious chokepoints that they had in their latest maps.
Though I have to admit, the CQ pack was great for what it is. Also I really hope that Armor Kill is a massive success.
Pretty sure they are gonna relese Battlefield and Medal of Honor in opposite years and try to take away from Call of Duty sales. Smart strategy but we will see if they can keep the quality up.
Milkage. But then again if you want to dethrone the Beasty COD then you need yearly release, otherwise the gap year would be Cod stealing your fanbase and thats why they have yearly releases now (MOH and BF are the same engine, just 1 is on a smaller scale). In terms of business, it makes sense and I just hope they don't talk too much like they did before BF3 release and end up looking like fools. Remember when BF3 come out they apologiesed for their comments of cod, since they noticed that their sales were no where near COD and didn't even let Cod come out before they apologiesed. But hey nothing like getting the fanboys bashing Cod to buy your game as a way to express their hate for Cod.
I did end up buying BF3 on PC thanks to a sale, but cod still carries water. imo But hey BF can never be milkage right? only cod can be classed as milking. It's funny how when EA copies cod's yearly release it's not called milking. Why? because they named the titles different(MOH and BF) they are apart, although they use the same engine and the same mechanics.

i think you are wrong on that, cod is the same ip with two different developers which follow thier own stories, but in all its the same gameplay. MOH and BF are two completely different ips, like you said MOH is a small map mp while BF is a large scale MP. thier smallest maps are the size of MOH's biggest maps and dont forget that one has more vehicles than the other along with jet and chopper battles. i believe that ea release them that way so they dont loose sales on both. better to spread the release dates on them than having your own two games battle each other out.Milkage. One has an MP with vehicles and big maps and the other one doesn't. That's the only real difference I see so far. Guarantee you the SP will be another 6 hour movie. Oh lets forget you also need a cheap co-op mode to compete with CoD.BF4 Beta, One month before release confirmed. EA will be fools to ignore the November and December buying rush.

considering how ea put another bull talk press release sayign that moh and bf appeal to diffirent audiences, id say know, they still milk, they just feed off by cod haters who seek another shooter to play as long as it is not cod its good to them. The way ea sees it, they make profit without having to release annually, they just release 2 games. All they care is the money coming in, so its basicly the same thing to them.i think you are wrong on that, cod is the same ip with two different developers which follow thier own stories, but in all its the same gameplay. Different IPs but same devs and engine. It's not like MOH is any different to BF gameplaywise, like I said before MOH is just just BF with less features. Don't get confused because of the different name, Dice are the ones working on the multiplayer for both, at least Cod rotates the devs in terms of Multiplayer. And how can you say Cod is the same when BO2 has proven otherwise, come on fanboys you need a different excuse for hating the Beast COD. What did BF3 add that was revolutionary? Vehicles, jets and tanks have been done in every BF, so what was new? except clustered maps like operation metro, grand bazzar and the close quarters DLC trying to mimic COD. Its funny you hate Cod when it has influenced a lot of features for BF3 like the weapon customization, perks and maps. MOH has killstreaks lol and yet you guys don't complain. So is this going to be on Xbox 720 and PS4? I bet it has 64 players since the next gen systems are going to be really powerful.
Bring back the Commander so I can use Artilery and supply drops.

It would insulting to give 360/PS3 players beta codes for unreleased console versions of the game.
If anything this means we may not see new consoles next year

No it doesn't. The BF3 beta was fall 2011 and the game launched fall 2011.[QUOTE="Badosh"]Let the milkage begin!CranlerHow is this milkage and previous installments not? BF 1942, BF Vietnam, BF 2 and BF 2142 all released within a 4 year period.

From 6 years to barely 2 years. I'm angry: BF3 was not only worse than Bad Company 2, but now instead of releasing BF 2143 or a Bad Company 3 game saving BF4 to the next gen of consoles they will release a BF3 mod called "Battlefield 4" aiming to prehistoric consoles with a collapsing cycle of sales as the main focus od the development.
Good luck with that EA: I fell in BF3 but mercifully avoided the DLCs and will not purchase your new Medal of Horror or new Battlefiled rehas; please call again when a new BC of BF 214X game would be ready, due are at most your obly franchises I could remotely care from you at this moment. BF 2142 came out in 2006 and Bad Company came out in 2008. BC is a Battlefield game regardless of whether Dice or fans consider it to be. How different do you think BC 3 would be from BF 4? BC 2 has as much in common with BF 2 as BC 2 does with BF 3.They were right. Battlefield has become the new CoD.shogundukHow so? COD releases every year. This would be 2 years between BF games. BTW, a lot of games release on 2 year dev cycles, uncharted 2007, uncharted 2, 2009, uncharted 3, 2011 just as an example. Yet, no one calls them the new 'COD'. COD is the same franchise every single year even though it has 2 year dev cycle it still releases every year.

Wow really? What's the difference between waiting 6 years and waiting 2 years? Do you really think they worked on BF3 for 6 years?
They didn't start working on the meat of BF3 until they were done with BC2 which gave them a bit under 2 years to make the game.
