The demo they had the public play at EA Play during E3 didn't include loot crates, and it looks like they showed that stuff off in doors for the insiders. I did walk by that Angry Dude gamer guy, I couldn't figure out his name but my bro told me lol. Anyway, I like the feel for the gameplay in this one better than the first. During our multiplayer match, you do unlock the special characters like Solo, Maul, etc. by getting kills/points, so I'm not too sure how this loot crate thing get mixed in. Maybe it depends on the game mode. But I'll probably wait for this game to be free or discounted thru EA Access. I mean the first one got added there only like a year after. I bought it cheap thanks to EA Access and haven't really spent time on it due to backlog but if I knew it was getting added, I would have waited and just be fine with it being in the vault.

Seriously, who cares? It's not some hyper competitive multiplayer game like Rainbow Six, Overwatch or Halo 5. It's a fucking super casualized multiplayer game for star wars fans who don't play video games.

I'll still buy it like the consumer and Star Wars whore I am.

This is why. (Not getting at you Wasdie, just using your comment to state a fact)

It all started with the morons paying real money for "Ultimate Team" cards in the EA Sports franchises. None of this has ever made any sense to me. Fortunately in those games it has always seemed like a totally separate "game within a game", not something I was forced to do. Something totally irrational I wanted absolutely no part of.

I too will probably buy the game, but I will never participate in microtransactions to buy upgrades. NEVER on a full price game. If I feel it impacts the game too much, then EA is at risk of losing the next sale from me or perhaps all future sales if the experience is further ruined.

Na, Team Fortress 2 was doing it. But Team Fortress 2 is a free2play game that doesn't cost half a hundred quid.

If you buy or don't buy, or regardless of any people complaining on the internet means probably -1. It will sell like gang busters, others will do it, it's ferocity will increase while Gamespot punts out articles with "we promise it's optional" in bold lettering, to emphasize everything is ok, to help usher in this glorious new era.

On the plus side, something.

People seemed fine with Halo 5's model

@carlquincy: halo 5 arena multiplayer isn't affected by the weapon changes. It's only cosmetics. The weapon changes work only in warzone. Arena is where you go to play competitively as everyone starts with the same weapon. In warzone the weapon changes don't feel game changing to me. All they do is give you a new scope or ability to shoot different bullets, etc.

stopped buying battlefield after 3, when premium model started.

instead of paying 50 bucks for the full game, now you got to pay then 120 for the full game, with dlc passes and premium it just became a utter joke.

Clearly the company didn't wanted me as consumer bad luck for them,

I was hyped for this game 'cause it looked like they learned a lot of lessons from BF1. Well... maybe they did not.

This is why my Star Wars games are all going to be from LEGO, as I don't like EA's current control on the franchise.

Well i was hoping it was just cosmetic stuff but I will take this over having the game sold to me thru DLC and never getting to play the new maps because only 10% of the player base have the DLC

Heroes sound less OP than in BF1.

But I dunno, I kinda like heroes being OP and disliked it :P

EA Hasn't made any Good Star Wars game So Far. I also have no hope for Visceral's SW game .

Disney shouldn't have shut down Lucasarts.(Even Lucasarts First Assault Game and Version 2 Looked more Hardcore than EA Battlefront)

Lucasarts died a long time ago, officially before they died. They were making crap for a while before they went kaput.

Actually they had the Talent to make Good Games but The Sh*tty Management was the main reason they barely made any good game in PS3,360 Era.

Monkey Island 5 and the first 2 Monkey Island Remakes were the only great games that Slipped from the Management. Other Games like Forced Unleashed were bad due to this fact that they were forced to work on that Sh*tty Euphoria Engine than to make a Good Hack'n Slash Star Wars Game. They were also making Games with a tech that consoles couldn't handle at that time(Free Radical's Battlefront 3).The Management wasn't also allowing the other projects to go smoothly(Star Wars Underworld).

Even at that Dark Time Lucasarts Had more Interesting Projects Compare to What EA Does these days.(They also wanted to make a Darth Maul Game but the management Cancelled it for some unknown reason)

Yea, Lucasarts even at their worst generally produced new and original content. Even Forced Unleashed.

And there goes my interest. No need to even try the beta. Its just disgusting to see p2w in a full priced game. Overwatch is the only shooter that gets it right. You sell loot boxes that only contain cosmetics and have everyone on a level playing field. Even R6 Siege doesn't handle it great because you have to grind to unlock operators or you can buy a season pass and have them unlocked instantly.

Well, that's the same problem EA has, really. There's a lot of talent from EA studios such as DICE, but EA management has them by the balls quite a bit.

Well they did. All of the gameplay issues are fixed.

This whole loot box thing is a way for them to do post-launch DLC without charging thus splitting the community.

the first game has this, you can get those same power-ups by purchasing them with credits you earn in the game itself

seems like nearly every game these days that's worth playing online does something like this, it's not necessary but it's an option and I choose not to use it, still allows me to enjoy the online all the same, still, it's EA, so yeah it's going to get hell for it, make a bunch of whiny man-children go "durr, not buying it now, durr"

Gamer's will cry over everything. I welcome the loot box if it saves me having to spend $50 on the DLC let other people fund the DLC that are into loot box opening. Thank you EA keep up the good work.

Of course gamers will "cry", it's a £50 game with pay2win mechanics. Was this suppose to be demeaning? Because it literally just came across as borderline insane.

You're willing to have deliberately convoluted unlock systems, with grind walls like a mobile game, because you don't want to pay a few bucks for expansion packs anymore?

A solution for this already existed, it's called "free2play".

@uninspiredcup: It's not as pay to win as you're making it out to be. The gambling nature of the lootboxes make them very unpredictable. You'll have to drop literally hundreds to unlock everything you want. So few people will do that and since it's only 20 vs 20, the amount of times you're going to run into somebody who's dropped hundreds into the game to get all of the unlocks faster than those who started playing from day one is going to be a tiny low percentage.

The only thing I'm really upset about is how fractured and inconsistent the progression will be because of this system. Running into somebody who's bought their way there is going to be extremely rare. By the time I notice one, I'll probably have unlocked most of the stuff I wanted anyways.

I really wish people would take a step back and examine all of the variables rather than just getting their panties in a knot immediately.

I'll buy the game, gonna be outrageous on both PS4 Pro and XBoneX. I will not spend a dime on that stuff though. I wish people wouldn't, but we all know they will :(

Look. That sounds a lot better when you put it like that. Did they ever officially confirm this? Because I heard nothing about them not splitting the community. If that is the case I can kind of overlook this box stuff, because that would be a step in the right direction. I mean, I still think it's bad but I'd consider it better than a $120 premium edition which separates the player base into like 5 chunks.

I see they did state that there won't be a season pass... Hmm.

I mean, the upgrade system in-game is all loot box tied. So that sucks. I guess it's give and take.

Never was a big fan of unlock systems for mechanics in games. And it doesn't help that I found Battlefront 1 way too shallow, so I'm full on skip territory. My star wars fix is just watching the movie, between PUBG, and the upcoming Lawbreakers, Quake Champions, n Spla2n, I'll have enough of a mp fix this year. Plus when in doubt, go back to Overwatch.

Maybe I'm just desensitised from Team Fortress 2 doing the same thing. And yea, I dont like the practice.

But Star Wars Battlefront is a casual series.. a pretty poorly designed one too, its casual fan service... in no way were they ever designed to be good MP games... far before this.

If you get all content for free, then whatever ... honestly, I'd only pick this up for fan service

But there is no reason we can't have both fan service AND a solid game... see: Jedi Knight series

And when is the last time you see games come out like that?

I don't disagree, it just aint gonna happen.

besides, ive just started playing Battlefield 1 ... this pretty much has ALL that crap in here... and its a good game.

Again, if you can unlock them for free... I'd rather have all the DLCs for free and put up with slower progress

Lawbreakers and Fortnite look to be surprisingly good. I had pretty much written off both at some point.

It doesn't though:

Some of the best weapons for Battlefield 1 are unlocked at the start.

It doesn't have BS like Battlefield 4 that you need to unlock armor for your soldier. Everyone has the same amount of HP or armor: Wether you are level 1 or level 99

It doesn't have BS like Battlefield 3 where you need to unlock essential stuff like a defib. Everyone has the revive needle from the start.

Battlefield 1 is not unfair like you put it.

I didn't say it was unfair, I said you can buy progress.

Your idea of best weapons from the start differes from other peoples. ( I cant even remember having to unlock Defib on BF4... probably because you get it so early anyway).

SW:BF2 sounds pretty much like BF1 ... get random crates, keep the items or break them down into currency. Can also unlock by other methods. But people who pay will likely get it faster.

This is the current and future state of gaming and it's not changing anytim soon, especially with the comments i'm reading here "yeah, I don't like the pay to win but I'm stil going to buy!"

what kind of utter idiocy is that? Especially considering the shambles the last game was. Sheep.
