BBC article confirms 3rd place for XBox 360

Microsoft will want to beat the performance of its Xbox 360 which was first to market but lowest on the global sales leaderboard.

Why do people look at sales like that. The 360 was massively successful for a console which started off with barely a brand and didn't have Japan.

I don't think anyone in their right minds would scoff at sharing the market so evenly with Sony. Of course they want to do better, that's business. Sony and MS have been great competition keeping each other on their toes and making each other push harder than before and that won't change.

And to be fair, the 360 lead right up until the end when Sony overtook it.

And what DEBUNKS this is the fact its based on figures from IDC. Clearly not accurate because they say the 360 was around 76 million, when in fact it was at 77.2 million exactly LOL

The gen ends when the consoles of that gen are no longer for sale.  The 360 / PS3 are still for sale so the gen is still on.  For that matter last gen is still on because you can still by PS2's.

The worst thing is that the xbox 360 had a whole year on top of the ps3 so the ps3 has done well to catch up and take over sales even when there a year behind. and do these sales match the rate of the 360's that over heated and the consumer had to buy a new one. 

7th gen still has a long way to go.
