Great move by Namco.
The Xbox360 has already proven it can sell software.:)

[QUOTE="Bansheesdie"][QUOTE="Timstuff"]This game will sell like crap on Xbox 360, and no-one is going to buy an Xbox to play it. Namco just cut themselves out of a potential market.DSgamer64
I bet this will help Msoft in Japan though. Beautiful Katamari, Blue Dragon, Lost Odyessey and multiplats like DMC 4 deffiantly will not hurt.
I highly doubt that, Blue Dragon did not help the 360's market share at all there, I dont even think the console has passed 1 million units sold there, Eternal Sonata has not helped either considering it has not even broken 100k yet and its been out for almost a month. The fact is that games made in that region have sold terribly compared to what they would on the PS3 or Wii, because its brand loyalty and lemmings need to accept that. Katamari wasn't that huge of a seller last gen either on the PS2, it was popular but not like 5 million in Japan popular so to speak.
And there you have it ladies and gentlemen. People somehow think that Japanese devs are making a huge profit from releasing their 360 games in Japan.Blue Dragon sold poorly,Eternal Sonata is selling poorly, and the only chance of success for Lost Odyssey is if it launches in NA first. Let's see if Katamari will push 360s.Wow, that really sucks. I hope it comes back to bite Namco in the ass later.Timstuff
Namco probably has already seen low sales in Japan for this title. As far as I'm concerned, it doesn't matter what the game sells or if it remains exclusive. Beautiful Katamari and the Katamari series in general does not interest me in the slightest.
I never played the previous games, but I'm definately picking this one up.
ReverseCycology
I bet that even if this was a crappy game, you'd buy it anyway just because you want anything that got moved from Playstation to Xbox. For people like you, it's like voting with dollars.
[QUOTE="Timstuff"]no-one in Japan is going to buy this for Xbox 360.
Forza_2
Why are you so sure of that ? According to Sakaguchi Blue Dragon already sold 300k copies.
Psh, thats crap for sales, the game has been out for 30 weeks in Japan and its only sold that much is completely abysmal. According to vgchartz, it has only sold 210,000 copies in Japan, however either way, 300k is crap compared to other JRPG games.
[QUOTE="Bansheesdie"][QUOTE="foxhound_fox"]Where in that article does it say "officially 360 exclusive?" I cannot find it. One link leads to a forum the other to an article that states the following: "work has stopped on the PS3 version and those resources are being channeled into a version of the quirky rolling game for the Wii."Michael85
"the latest issue of Famitsu states that Beautiful Katamari is no longer coming to the PS3. 360 yes, PS3, no. No reason was given for the cancellation, so your guess is as good as mine. Providing your guesses involve either moderate sums of MS cash or the tricky nature of the PS3's architecture."

That doesn't mention the rumored Wii version, nor does it state that the 360 has the title exclusively. TC made that part up.
I didnt make anything up, I said officially its 360 Exclusive, with the Wii version being a rumor, thats 100% true
Psh, thats crap for sales, the game has been out for 30 weeks in Japan and its only sold that much is completely abysmal.

300k is not abysmal by any means. Keep in mind this is just from one country. I was just proving a point that 360 owners in Japan do buy games.
I bet that even if this was a crappy game, you'd buy it anyway just because you want anything that got moved from Playstation to Xbox. For people like you, it's like voting with dollars. Timstuff
Why the hell do you want this to fail so bad? Plus, if you have seen any of the videos more effort is being put in to this Katamari then either of the others.
[QUOTE="Homesrfan"][QUOTE="Timstuff"][QUOTE="supermechakirby"][QUOTE="Timstuff"]Wow, that really sucks. I hope it comes back to bite Namco in the ass later.Timstuff
what comes back to bite them in the ass? Profit?
LOL, who are you kidding? Half of Katimari's money comes from Japan, and no-one in Japan is going to buy this for Xbox 360. More profit across two systems > supporting MS's garbage agenda.
I'm pretty sure Katamari sells better in America than Japan.
PS2 has 100 million users. Xbox 360 has 10 million. Anyone else see the logical fallacy here?
What did the best selling ps2 game sell?[QUOTE="DSgamer64"][QUOTE="Bansheesdie"][QUOTE="Timstuff"]This game will sell like crap on Xbox 360, and no-one is going to buy an Xbox to play it. Namco just cut themselves out of a potential market.Dualshockin

Let's see if Katamari will push 360s.Katamari won't though, it was never a proven franchise on an Xbox console since last gen the PS2 was the leader in Japan, what is Namco smoking if they think the game is going to sell on the 360 in Japan where the console is failing? Xbox failed there and the 360 is failing there, thus Katamari will fail as well. Not to mention there are far more advantages to the game being on the Wii and PS3, what with having tilt/motion support which would make moving the ball so much more fluid.

Yeah it is crap, Dragon Quest games sell more then that in a single day, same with most Final Fantasy games.

Just because a game is not a huge hit like those two, it doesn't mean it's crap. How old are you ? 10 ?
Either that or an angry fanboy.

No I'm getting it because it's a unique game and I just never had the chance to play it. Now I get a chance to. It's as simple as that really. It's just like Ninja Gaiden Sigma. I bet most PS3 owners never tried the Xbox version, now they got the chance to play such a great game.
Namco's been jumping around with this game that it's become ridiculous.
First it was PS3+360, then its PS3+360+Wii, then 360+Wii, now just 360. Then a few days later, it will be back on the PS3, on the PSP and Ngage. God knows what Namco is doing with their PR.
The Katamari developer already hates Namco since they are forcing him to make more of it when he wanted to stop.

Officially Beautiful Katamari is XBox 360 exclusive
supermechakirby
You stated that the Wii version was, and I quote, "NOTHING but a rumor", which means that it's was a rumor and only a rumor, and that an actual game never existed. This is exactly what you said.
The link you provided made NO mention, good or bad, on the Wii version. Not only that, but the link that YOU provided did NOT confirm exclusivity of the game to the Xbox 360, NOR did it debunk the rumored Wii version as just a rumor.
As I said, you made that part up.
This move by Namco baffles me. Paid exclusive?Ibacai
Probably. Remember what Microsoft said about family oriented games ?
I bet they are gonna show it at E3. "We have hardcore games like Halo 3, Mass Effect, blah blah... and we have games for everybody. Like Banjo, Katamari..."
This game will sell like crap on Xbox 360, and no-one is going to buy an Xbox to play it. Namco just cut themselves out of a potential market.Timstuff
I agree. This was one of the games I was expecting to play after selling my 360 for my PS3.
Darn it.........

Have fun with those abysmal sales.

I took a chance on KD for the PS2 and LOVED it. Ended up getting We Love Katamari, and I'll most DEFINITELY be getting Beautiful Katamari. More than likely, you'll find something awesomely addictive about the KD series.
ive never heard of that game.....
If its so wonderful how come ive never heard of it?? What do you do in it???

is that a compliment?
and thats lemming to you
but the game has a dedicated following here, not to mention the PS3 isnt that far ahead of the 360 in japan, and Blue dragon did just reach 300,000 sold, so the attach rate is high
I liked Katimari, but not enough to buy an Xbox for. I can't think of anyone who likes Katimari enough to switch systems. Namco screwed themselves and katimari fans overwit this BS descision. I hope they ride to the wall for it.
Damn you must be really angry. This really sucks for PS3 owners but that doesn't mean you should bash Microsoft or Namco or their business strategies. There must have been a good reason to cancel it. They aren't just doing it to piss off fans you know. Their sales may suffer, then again they may do well, depending on where most of the market is (U.S. or Japan). Regardless, you can't do anything about it, so there is no need to bust a nut over it. You obviously prefer your PS3, so why don't you just go back to looking forward to the other PS3 games coming out this year and not worry about Katamari... Unless... you really do want to play it and that is why you are so pissed off about it? I can understand your frustration then. I mean, no one in their right mind would want to buy a console, to play just one game, even if it is a game you really want, unless the console is dirt cheap. It just doesn't make sense, but at the same time you know you are going to be missing out. It is a pain, but those things happen. Of course, there are other games out there too...so well... just think about it okay?[QUOTE="ReverseCycology"]I never played the previous games, but I'm definately picking this one up.

Yep. I always wanted to play the previous ones, just never had a chance. I think I read somewhere that the previous Katamari games would be on xbla, not sure though. But that would be awesome too.
I didn't see anything in that article about the Wii version as a rumour.
"On July 5, 2007 Namco revealed their E3 2007 lineup, listing Beautiful Katamari as Xbox 360 only. On the same day, Famitsu reported that Beautiful Katamari has been cancelled for the PS3 and is currently in development for the Wii and Xbox 360."
