The DS is king of 2d games: Henry Hatsworth, all 3 castlevanias (the DS castlevanias are the greatest castlevanias made to date, hands down), the new super mario game, Bangai-o Spirits, etc...

The Wii has Muramasa, which is beautiful, and Cave Story Wii, which is epic.

Then there's Castle Crashers, a game that dominated my life for a month straight.

It's really hard to pick one and say it's the best.

2D: Odin Sphere (hands down, for story alone)
2.5D: Shadow Complex

(the DS castlevanias are the greatest castlevanias made to date, hands down)MangaJ

Haha... no. Symphony of the Night is. And Curse of Darkness and Lament of Innocence are up there as well. Only Aria of Sorrow and Dawn of Sorrow are even worth mentioning in the same sentence as Symphony of the Night.

False. The GBA games took everything about Symphony of the Night and made it better. Which is a good thing. It's progress.

Order of Ecclesia was worse than both Dawn of Sorrow and Aria of Sorrow. And Circle of the Moon isn't even in the same styIe.

Midi music doesn't even compare to fully orchestrated mp3 tracks. Everything about Symphony of the Night defined what Castlevania "is". From music, to gameplay, to atmosphere, to characters to story. I have yet to play a game that captures the essence of "Castlevania" more directly than SOTN. Dawn of Sorrow and Aria of Sorrow are great games, but they aren't on the same level as SOTN. The only thing bad about SOTN was its difficulty (or lack thereof).

You can yell and scream all you like, but SOTN remains the greatest Castlevania game to ever be released. And don't pull the "its all nostalgia" card on me either... I first played SOTN seriously two years ago a decade after its initial release. And don't even get me started on what Curse of Darkness has brought to the Metroivania/Castleroid genre to move it "forward". It is easily better than Aria of Sorrow, Dawn of Sorrow and any other Castleroid CV made... and its in 3D with clunky combat.

SOTN being the best is one of the only cases where I will claim that my opinion = fact. Every other Castlevania is merely a lesser imitation of its greatness.

I've been wondering how Circle of the Moon stacks up compared to the DS Castlevanias, all of which I have. I recently picked it up on impulse along with Aria of Sorrow.

SF4! But I say this with caution. It looks to be bested by SSF4 so... It's only got 2 weeks left to hold the spot.

YEah, circle of the moon isn't that great. But I don't know what the hell this guy is talking about saying that SotN is better than the DS Castlevanias. It's not like I haven't played Symphony of the Night, man. I just think you're totally wrong.

Hmm I'd say LittleBigPlanet for full games, I liked it more than what I played of NSMB. I played some of that Cliffy B XBL Metroid-esque game umm... Shadow Complex, that's the one. It rocked pretty hard too.
