People are going to disagree, but screw it. Mario Kart 8. Game was amazing. Never thought that a RACING game of all things could be so darn good.
Remasters don't count, BTW.

Have to go with Witcher 3... with games like Arkham Knight, Wolfenstein and Rise of the Tomb Raider close behind. (Although I'm definitely missing a few).
@Bigboi500: after beating fallout 4 im truly dissapointed. And im a HUGE fallout fan. Its just so last gen to me. The choices sucked. Voice acting was a bore. Characters sucked, boss fights sucked. Missions sucked. The only cool sequence I think was the search for Kellog, that was the high point of the game for me. I havent played witcher 3 but people say the combat is trash.
After playing fallout 4 I can honestly say that Deus Ex last gen was a WAY better game. And im really looking forward to the new one.
@harrygooch: if you go into any Bethesda game expecting some world shattering story with amazing writing and voice acting then you're playing the wrong game. Those games are about exploration and filling their worlds with tons and tons of detail. Some of the quests are good but the best parts of that game have been exploring everything I can find and just running into random shit.
@harrygooch: Seems like you rushed through the game, and probably didn't see a fraction of the wasteland. I'm 30 hours in and have barely scratched the surface.
I love the randomness of the game, like I was doing some recon on a facility at night, and a BoS bird landed close by and engaged a fortress of super mutants. They destroyed the BoS easily as I watched, hidden in the night and waited until the fire fight was over, then crept in close and pillaged the corpses of both sides and nabbed some sweet gear.
I love that kind of atmosphere and it happens all the time out in the wild. Surprisingly unscripted moments like that really immerse me in the world.
There's just so much to see and do beside the main story, and so many different way to play the game. I've had a blast just building up the Minute Men and the settlements. Building bases, searching for parts, growing food, modding weapons and armor and developing resources.
And then you can get to know your companions. I've only found a few of them so far, and I'm not using guides or watching youtube vids to help me, and I've upped the difficulty so that it's not easy to just stumble forward like rambo and mindlessly destroy the enemy with little resistance.
Obviously I'm playing as a good guy this time. The game is going to have a ton of replay ability, because I don't think I can see and do everything my first time around.
It's gotta be Halo 5: Guardians. The multiplayer is absolutely unreal. I don't know when I'll be done playing that.
These would be the hard hitters for Me. All of which have excellent, design, satisfying challenge, and enormous amounts of content.
-Pikmin 3
-Bloodborne
-Bayonetta 2
-Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze
-Super Smash Bros. for Wii U
-Super Mario 3D World
-New Super Mario Bros. U
Of what I've played more than 30 minutes worth so far?
MGSV
Rocket League
Second Son
Destiny (after TTK)
@Bigboi500: im 60 hours in. I seen it all. I did all that and more. Trust me theres not much more than what you described left. Emptying out abandoned buildings is 90% of the game.
