Interesting: Whatever happens, the customer will most likely win in this scenario. As of right now, Bestbuy is testing this in a few retail locations. Will have to wait and see if this becomes nationwide policy.

Gamestop is great though how you can return any used game for refund even if the only reason is you did not like the game.

O well I will still use Gamestop and Gamecrazy. Mainly because in the town I live there is a Gamecrazy and I can do Gamestop online. The nearest Best Buy is an hour drive away.

We'll see how Gamestop responds. If they shrug this off, Bestbuy probably ahs more to gain from this then lose.

Kill the devil Gamestop. That place is ruining the industry, IMHO. They price gouge to hell and back on their used games, the only reason most people buy them is for the aforementioned warranty.

Gamestop won't respond. Mark my words. By the way, Gamestop only discounts $5 off of every new game traded in. Always. On $20 games they only discount 2 dollars.

Best Buy won't even feel it.

I honestly never understood all the hate against Gamestop.I have all the big American stores close to me Wal-Mart, Target, Best Buy and so on. Gamestop always has the lowest or equal new prices and the used ones are of course even lower. Also like I said no matter what they will take a used game back within 7 days.

Baloney. Their new games are always at least MSRP and they have extremely inflexible prices. Sales almost never happen and they're related to trade ins or reservations almost all of the time. I've seriously seen sales like "trade in games towards the reservation of X game, and get 20% extra trade in value!" Look at the Wii Motion Plus, everywhere else it's $20, at Gamestop its $25. They ONLY discount roughly 10% off of their used games. That's all. That's all you get. Most of the time that means $2-$5 maximum. Their only true "sales" are like "buy 2 get 1 free" on used games.

I know I'd rather buy New than used.

The only reason why Gamestop might not be affected dramatically is that most people trade in games to buy new games. But Best Buy is looking into that as well...

there is nothing wrong with gamestop/eb games/gamecrazy except when it comes to the used games, systems, accesories side of the story. buying stuff new is the same there or at bb or target or walmart. the differences might be things like preorder specials.

This is true, they had a good sale though last weekend for 25 percent off all used games. Also if you know some discount codes you can get some good deals online. I never buy from Gamestop online without using the CAG16 code and the Saver coupon code. 16 percent off used games + free shipping combined add's up fast.

lol and what store is that. I work at best buy, and those kind of things are completely at manager discretion. If they want they can say yes or no to price matching used games, they will most likely not agree to it, but for things like PS2 games or if the difference is a few dollars, they most likely won't care, so I see it happening though.

Thats why I get all my used games resurfaced. I get it done at Gamecrazy for free(and they will do it for games bought anywhere) and the games come out looking brand new.

One time I went to Gamestop and bought Geist they asked me if I wanted it used for only $1 cheaper (It was $7 new) I said no I prefer New games I need everything to be perfect. I only bought one used game from Gamestop and it was F-Zero GX and it was the best condition I saw a Used game and the manual was bent (Most used games I see because my sister she mainly buys used games they have no cover image, no manual, and the game is still playable but has alot of scratches but they don't harm the way the game plays.)

Best Buy only sells extremely popular games, gamespot has some not popular games for a few games before they disappear.

Thus, I like gamespot more.

The box arts have does ANNOYING stickers. And most of the PS2 games I get from there have no manuals, and I have to buy the manual....but the best condition used games I have got are gamefly's. Their cases look brand new (since they never rent with the cases), and the games have good looking discs too.

Best Buy DOES NOT have a LARGE AMOUNT of RARE games that can support this new offer. That's the Big Difference.

I don't see how this works, since Best Buy is basically catered to the average everyday consumer, not gamers. Gamers, many of which, are still buying USED games that are hard to find.

Where can i find a used copy of Twisted Metal Black? or Star Wars Jedi Knight 2 Jedi Outcast? or Gran Turismo 3? orL oZ WW? or Wipeout Fusion? All this can be found at Gamestop. I'm not saying I'm a huge fan of Gamestop, but they do offer variety.

If BB are gonna compete, they've better damn well have a LARGE SELECTION of used games to choose from.

Here's how it works. If you don't believe me, get up, go to your local Gamestop, buy any used game you please, ask them how the 7 day used warranty works, then return it within 7 days with your receipt and you will get a full refund, in dollars, in whatever payment method you used. You buy a used game and you have 7 days to return it for a full refund. Period.

And this is why I don't understand the opposition to digital distribution. All of those games would be available online whenever you wanted them and they would never deteriorate or be ruined if publishers simply released their games via digital distribution. And this is why consoles suck, because you have to wait for each individual manufacturer to create a proprietary distribution service.... whereas if you go on the PC you've got an enormous back catalog of games on Steam.

[QUOTE="Brownesque"] There is a seven day return policy on used games, meaning you can play them for 7 days, and if you don't like them, you can return them. Are you following now? But, yes, hail Best Buy. Hail Best Buy. Kill the devil Gamestop. That place is ruining the industry, IMHO. They price gouge to hell and back on their used games, the only reason most people buy them is for the aforementioned warranty.Brownesque

Did I say I didn't understand anything? No?

Since you couldn't follow, I'll explain it to you. I was referring to the popular opinion that gamestop sucks.

All caught up now?

I didn't quote you and I wasn't responding to you. I can even cut your response from my quote log because it's not pertinent to the thing I was responding to.

You quoted and responded directly to me, at least the first portion.

Edit: I hate when I'm rude to people even if I feel they deserved it, so I deleted that post lol.

I hope people actually make use of this. :|

Most people won't. The difference in price is usually $5 at most. And I doubt anyone will wait in the long customer service line, and make a douche out of themselves to get $5 off a game. You will most likely get it, but you will leave emotionally scarred.

Honest to God, first time I've ever heard anyone utter gamespot and something positive in the same sentence lol.

I am pretty sure that return policy is you can return it within 7 days and get a NEW used copy of the same game. They don't say "Yeah, try the game, bring it back in 7 days if you don't like it and we will let you choose a game of equal price to replace it with and rinse and repeat"

the gamestop I used to go to would allow you to return a used game if you did not like it for another used game of your choosing

You dare question the power of the customer? They do anything to get the lowest possible prices. I know, my parents do it all the time.

It's a corporation-wide policy, meaning it does not matter what Gamestop you go to, they will give you cash if you paid cash if you say "I didn't like the game, I want my money back" within seven days with a receipt.

I actually did, excuse me. I can't remember why I did, though. Sorry for the confusion. I forgive you for being rude :/
