I suppose if the N64 was your first console ever, I can understand why you'd think that it was the best one ever.
You'd still be wrong, of course, but at least I can understand your bias.

Quality > Quanitity Mario 64 was the equivlant of 100 ps1 games, that's how good it was. Same with GoldeneyeeverquestloveHalf life 1 > Golden eye imo.
SNES/Genesis were the best consoles ever IMO. Then again the ps2 is a close runner... Hmmmm.... I have also enjoyed the PC consistently from 2004 onwards and i think in terms of systems the PC will always win out.I suppose if the N64 was your first console ever, I can understand why you'd think that it was the best one ever.

lol i bought goldeneye and hl1 when they were released, half life 1's deathmatch is far superior.
What sucks is n64 had cooler games but no online support now the games suck, but there's online support LOL.

I see.lol goldeneye was pretty cool, but on half life u could rocket jump and crap and 007 u couldnt even jump :) .
hl1 had more possibilities, 007 was still cool because one of the first 3d fps ever.
I agree, although the SNES isn't too far from it if not better. Those were the days when nintendo owned. Last gen, it was the PC, this gen has to go to PS3.tirralirrareally? I think all 3 failed this gen
See this gen sucks they even made a multiplayer focused turok game for n64 called turok wars.
where's the cool fps now wii? lol reason i say that turok originally was nintendo console game*

i think ps1 had alot more off the wall games than ps2/ps3 sucks it didnt have online play.
it seemed like there was many new franchises from dev's you never even heard the name of.
Agreed TC, but it is of course just opinion. The N64 era was my peak of gaming. I was 12 then, maybe age is a big factor, but goddamn I just know I'm never gonna have the same level of fun out of gaming as I did with the N64. It's definitely my personal favourite console of all time. What really made it stand out were the standard 4 controller ports, 4 player Mario Kart, Goldeneye, WCW/NWO Revenge, Smash Bros.... OMFG. It will never be beaten :(.
That whole gaming era was just unbelievably awesome though man. N64 had all those games, along with Mario64 and Zelda OoT, PS had brought out MGS, RE2, Twisted Metal, Tekken, PC had come out with GTA and Half Life... all truly revolutionary games. What do we have this gen that you could call revolutionary as the aforementioned games? That's right, nothing.

That's because the the PS1's library was full of shovelware. You can say the same thing about the Wii's library.
the ps2/xbox/gamecube era had a few good franchises born but.
i think that's when the industry seemed to start dying truly.
ps1/n64 era seemed alot better

I think all 3 failed this gen Really the PC has failed? :? I'm sat here looking at a stack of original titles, many from small or first time developers, even if the PC has failed at everything else then it has succeeded where the consoles have failed at giving the little man a voice, especially considering the dominance of JP and US on the 360/PS3.

The Z-Button and C Buttons were great for shooters and platformers. And the analog stick had a comfortable texture to it, so you wouldn't slip. The dualshock analogs are too rubberyeverquestlove
It was a great control, hate to use the word again, but it was the definition of revolutionary. However it's certainly not the best ever as the analog stick would seriously wear out. Though it is the father of modern controls, dual analogs do destroy the N64 pad.
[QUOTE="doobie1975"][QUOTE="everquestlove"] 3-6 NES, 7-8 SNES 9-21 N64 Bought DC, Ps2, and 360, but sold em alleverquestlovebut on another of your topics you say you were 21 recently I am
Uh, I don't see what the problem is. I'm 22 and my first console was Atari, but it belonged to my older brother. In order...
Atari 2600 --> NES --> SNES --> Gameboy --> Genesis --> N64 --> PS2 --> PS3
nintendo 64 owns the trash consoles now there's no better third person shooter out now than duke nukem zerohour

gears of war is trash in comparison.
How is 4 Controller Ports not revolutionary?everquestlove
Because multitaps on both the Sega Megadrive/Genesisand SNES were around before N64, as well as the famous J-carts from Codemasters for games like Micro Machines, which had an extra 2 ports built into the game cart to plug in two extra pads with zero expense on extra multitapsfor the buyer. THAT was revolutionary.
4 ports as a standard on the console itself was convenient, but hardly revolutionary.
My favourite console of all time was my Megadrive, easily...
How is 4 Controller Ports not revolutionary?everquestloveBecause it had been done before. It wasn't the fact that the 64 hardware had 4 ports that made it special, it was the software (goldeneye, mario kart and mario party mainly) that brought it above the rest. Otherwise it could simply be said that the PS1 had the multitap, pity that no software really capitalised on it.
