The 360 controller is better but not to such an extent that I'd consider it an advantage. They're both quite a bit inferior to kb/m as far as accuracy goes however (which means they're still a better fit for many games such as Batman: AA imo)

Very well....DualShock 3. Because of familiarity, it's the same basic design I've used for 11 years.
its not even close. 360 controller beats it hands down. even with a not so good d pad and thats pretty sad.

hip hip, hooray, hip hip hooray!!![QUOTE="3rdbass"][QUOTE="sSubZerOo"] Basically this.. I have to agree. AncientDozer
Yeah, I agree also. Like was mentioned before the triggers are nice to have on the 360 controller and the superior d-pad is nice to have on the DS3. Really it is just preference and I didn't really feel a big difference withe either stick. I do like the feel of the DS3 as it isn't as clunky as the XBOX one though really that is just my preference.
I cannot totally agree with what he said but I can with his sentiment. Neither is better? Come on, that just seems like a copout answer or the safe way out. Where's your sense of adventure? Stand by something. Most people will generally have a preference one way or the other and there's nothing wrong with that. As I said, the sentiment is on target - it comes down to preference and personal taste. We all have biases, each and every one of us.I did pick one if you read my post the DS3 due to it feel less clunky. Just a preference of mine.
i've got both controllers (ps3 controller for my ps3 and wired 360 controller for pc) and imo the ps3 is better for the games that i've played, which includes action/adventure, shooter, and fighting games. the 360 controller just seems too big and the joysticks arent as good as the ps3 controllers and the d-pad isn't as good as the ps3's either for doing combos in fighting games.

I agree with this. I was very dissapointed when i found out Bad Company 2 Beta was only for PS3 because i knew i wouldn't enjoy it with that awful controller. I've only played it a couple of times, and i had a really awful time.
I was playing fifa the other day on 360 and the controller was so much fail it's not even funny. Basically there was no way I could dribble well, the d-pad sucks and you cant dribble well with the analog stick.
The 360 controller is better for racing games and action games and it's also better for long sessions of gaming as the PS3 controller can make my hands stress. However I would still take the PS3 controller as an overall better one simply because it doesnt completely fail in any genre unlike the 360 which is simply full of fail for sports games.

Xbox 360 Controller
The D Pad in the DS3 is much better than the 360's, and the analogue sticks have noticeably less dead space. The Sony controllers also have rechargeable battery packs built in. The 360 has the FAR better trigger buttons.
As far a form factor, analogue placements, ect.., it's gonna come down to personal preference. I prefer the Sony layout most likely because my hands have been using that layout for 15 years. But it doesn't take me long to get used to playing on the MS controller either. Like so many other things between the two systems, there is more in common, than different.
I had a 360 for awhile ( sold it ) and a ps3 since day one, altho i m used to the ps3 controller since ps1, the 360 controller felt a bit more comfy in my hands. So i have to go with the 360 over the ps3 controller, but nothing beats keyboard and mouse :PSolid_Tango:|. yea keyboard and mouse....
DS3
Xbox 360 Controller
ps3 pros
analogs give smoother movments
dpad is better
360 pros

Thats a bit over the top. Its not like its night and day when it comes to shooters.

Nah man, to me FPS are almost unplayable on the PS3. It ruined my Killzone 2 experience too. I dunno, maybe i just need more practice with it but, i can't aim for crap with the DS3, i went something like 3 kills- 11 deaths when playing Bad Company.
I do not like the DS3, honestly. The controller is too small for my hands, and on top of that it feels uncomfortably light-weighted. I don't hate the triggers as much as I do the size/weight, but I prefer the 360 ones to those as well.
As for D-pad, the 360 has an atrocious one. I MUCH prefer the DS3 D-pad, although I play most fighting games with a stick n' buttons gamepad which is superior to either controller when it comes to playability.
the 360s dpad is freaking unfunctional for games like street fighter marvel vs capcom adn tekken but other than that it is a better controller than the ps3 in every other respect.
the ps3 controller feels light and cheap while th e360s controller feels heavy duty and fancy
i own both ps3 and 360 psn hjaber86 xbl hasher86
i found the 360 controller way to clunky and "meh" analog sticks, but the buttons (excluding the D-pad) are really good. dualshock 3 is just a great controller in general. triggers are okay, but not horrible. Thats about it. ReaperV7
for me the anologs of the 360 is what i love about it the analogs are amaing and firm feels good and i like the fact that they are not on the same level.
the ps3 analogs are so loose and annoying to use. alsops3 analogs are concave upward which is not nice
i dont know. there both good. i think the xbox controller looks abit better. but i think ill go with the ps controller. im more used to it and i find it easier to use.
I like the 360 controller more.. Unfortunately, I never play on my 360, only my PS3. :PDragonfireXZ95no offense dragonfire,but seeing your rig,just curious-for such a configuration, (Q9400 - 4GB Corsair Dominator - EVGA 896 MB GTX 260 - Corsair TX650W PSU - Thermaltake Shark Tower - 1TB HDD - T220 22" WS Monitor - Windows XP - Logitech G9 & G11 - Sony Bravia 32" 1080p) why are you using a direct x 9 os like windows xp??you have a gtx 260 and 4gb ram..direct x 10 card..!!!!!WHATS THE POINT F HAVING SUCH A RIG WITH AN OUTDATED OS???its like playing playstation 1 still,on a perhaps full hd led tv..
I would have to say the 360 controller but only just I tend to get cramp with the PS3 controller when playing driving games or intense shooters.
I really dislike the PS3 controller. The analog sticks just feel off, and it doesn't sit very comftorably in my hands. It's not usually a big deal, but playing something like Assassins Creed for an extended period of time gets really uncomftorable.
Xbox 360 controller is the best, it's very comfortable and greatfor FPS, TPS andRacing. PS3's are to small, doesn't feel good when holding it, and crappy triggers, but it's perfect for Fighting and Hack n Slash.
PS3 just because it doesn't have an F'd up D-pad. The freaking D-pad on the 360 messes me up when choosing plays in nba 2k, choosing weapons in any shooter, and just going thru menus of any games. The analog stick doesn't provide the accuracy to scroll thru menus.
The problem with the PS3 controllers are the L2/R2 triggers. But since I don't play racing games, it doesn't matter much.
For FPS & acing games, the 360 controller is better. Everything else is better on the PS3 just because of that god-awful D-pad.
