Um most fighting game franchises are older then Smash Brothers.

1. Street Fighter
2. King of Fighters
3. Tekken
4. DOA
5. Soul Edge (Soul Calibur)
6. Guilty Gear

Sorry about your damn luck. But by your logic you don't like fighters period.

Its really not a purefighting game, its basically just Mario,Link,Samus then the roster is filled with characters who havent had a game come out in the last 10-15 years (and none of them where in a fighting game what so ever).

Its like Mario comes out with a Football game, people wouldnt dare call it a actuall sport/football game.

First off wtf is a pure fighter and secondly I had no problems with Marvel vs Capcom or The King of Fighters which are games filled with characters who haven't had a came come out in a long time or have no games at all.

A pure fighting game is a fighting game that if ever need be you can easily port to or port from a arcade (where the fighter genre started)

Examples since you have a hard time knowing a real fighting game Tekken,Street Fighter,Guilty Gear ect ect are fighting games which SSB is NOT A FIGHTING GAME, throwing poke balls at someone is not a fighing game, a game that has majority of the roster (in fact EVERYONE) has never been in a game thats even close to a fighting game.

Like I said earlier SSB is basically a mario golf version of a fighting game, no one in their right mind would list mario golf as an actuall golf game and it should be the same for SSB, dont get me wrong SSB has its moments of fun but tell hell freezes over I will never call SSB a fighting game.

Just got SC IV yesterday, so I need more time before i can comment, but SCIV looks like a solid fighting game (as always been in the series)... However VF5 is still my fav this gen, thats probably until Tekken 6 is released....

SSBB is the clear winner for me... Not to say that I'm not enjoying SC4.

Too all who don't consider SSB a fighter... You only make yourselves look like morons with your elitist statements and you end up being taken less seriously.

both VF5 and DOA4 are excellent imo. but DOA4 online gets laggy sometimes

havent played SCIV yet though, but I heard it's great too

Soul Calibur 4 is the best fighter so far, but i guess TEKKEN 6 will be better...

First of all you are making crap up and making laughable exuses. You don't ever port to the arcade so your first point is meaningless. Who in their right mind would port to the arcade? Which would also mean that games such as DOA4 and SCIV are not pure fighters or whatever the hell you are calling them.

I'm not listening to your opinion as it is just plain wrong. Melee is a part of EVO and Brawl is not a part of EVO. If you don't believe that Smash is a fighter then you are just being ignorant. Its is played by most major fighting ciricles and is recognized by all major fighting circles.

1. Your logic ensues that SCIV and DOA4 are not true fighters do to the arcade comment.
2. Your logic ensues that The King of Fighters isn't a real fighting game due to its Dream Match up Cross over roster
3. Your logic ensuse that Marvel vs Capcom isn't a real fighter due to its Dream Match up Cross over roster.

Iits getting old its getting tiresome and its just down right lame. But its time for you to come to gripes with reality. Fighting Communities around the world recognize this game as a legit fighter, Period.

For the ones that came out right now, I would say soul calibur 4 and then virtua fighter 5. Dead or alive 4 surprisingly got old very fast. The gameplay to me wasn't that great.

But the best fighter imo has to be tekken 6. King of fighters is up there too.

i live near richmond hill buddy. Toronto. We have tekken 6 arcades there.

Actually, I dont miss out on any games. I buy them all, if they look good and trade them in if I dont like them. I bought SMG,SSBB, and mario kart wii . I still have SMG. I didnt mean every single game I played as a kid. You people read way to much in to this ****. Sorry, I didnt know I had to explain my life story.

if its not a real fighter then 3D fighters like all the ones in the poll are not seeing as how 2d fighters came first and braw is more like street fighter type of games then any listed in the poll
