What do you think is the best FPS of all time? Will it be the old-school Doom? The high-instence lighting fast gameplay Halo? Multiplayer goodness of CounterStrike? Or something else?
My vote goes to Halo CE as the best FPS of all time simply because it was extremely fast paced, beautiful music and it had a kick-ass story to go along with it.
Combat Evolved, but its too hard to just pick one for most people. Because of the quality between games like Half-Life, Goldeneye, Halo: Combat Evolved, Perfect Dark, Doom is too damn high!

You forgot Thief: The Dark Project by Looking Glass Studios. That game was amazing and very forward thinking for its time. Also the main character, Garret, was bad a$$.

AH! I was young and my parents used to never let me get it because of the Teen rating...but I finally layed my hands on a copy of GOLDENEYE 007. Excellent game...many first person shooters followed a similar style.... Loved this game.

First FPS to let you dual wield, Marathon. First FPS to add NPC allies, Marathon. First FPS to add a "shield" over your life, Marathon.
